  • "The apartment is lovely, it is sunny and bright because of all the windows which is very welcome in late November!"

There are also lovely views of the sea, the morning sunrise is a treat at this time of year, with some of the trees between the apartment and the sea having shed their leaves there is more of the sea to see! We were rather unlucky during our stay in that the road that runs alongside the apartment was being resurfaced which meant that our cars were trapped behind the road works for literally hours at a time. We couldn’t risk leaving it until the final morning to start our journeys home so we had to leave early unfortunately. When I was about to leave and pulled my car out of the garage I got in trouble with a local resident for choosing to pack the boot of my car outside the garage (it was dark in the garage). I also picked up a few annoyed comments from some of the local residents during our stay, I’m not sure whether they were irritated by tourists staying into the winter or whether they were simply exasperated by the disruption caused by the road resurfacing works. Our cars were appropriately tucked away at all times apart from when we first arrived and when we finally left, and as is always the case when we stay at Sykes Cottages were we very considerate to our neighbours. The unfortunate circumstances of the days in which we stayed aside, I would recommend this apartment as it is very thoughtfully decorated, furnished and fitted out, it is very suitable for two friends, and the cleaners clearly do a very good job, thank you.

Great location with a short walk down to the beach or along the cliff path to Charlestown. The apartment was clean and comfortable. The kitchen was very well equipped, we particularly appreciated the quantity of glasses and mugs so we didn't need to keep washing up! We really enjoyed opening the bifold doors to the balcony and looking at the view. We had 2 cars but had no problem parking the second car on the road right by the apartment building.

It has a sea view and is located in a fabulous quiet location within walking distance of Charlestown where there are lots of places to eat good quality food. There is also a beach which is only accessible to residents which was very quiet. Tesco and Lidl are a very short drive away so easy to obtain supplies. Also close to the Eden Project and other local attractions and coastal walks. The walk back from Charlestown and the beach is quite steep. Would highly recommend this property..

This is the third property we have stayed in at clock tower court but this is the best. The most space, the best views and the best quality equipment in the flat. Even the mugs and cutlery are high quality. This makes the place feel more special. The garage is a nice convenience as it’s massive but I can see some people wouldn’t like the tight reverse through the garage door opening. There’s lots of easy street parking so I don’t think it’s a negative. Also worth mentioning is the whole place was cleaned and disinfected to a very high standard. I expected to re clean at least some of the property but this wasn’t necessary. Top marks to the cleaning crew.

The private beach is clean and we had no problems with social distancing, we even found a small waterfall (be warned it’s a steep slope down but worth it) I will definitely be booking again and recommend to friends and family and for people who find stairs difficult there is a lift!

  • "A very well equipped and comfortable apartment in a delightful position."

Being on the top floor the benefit of a lift was much appreciated at all times adding to the attraction of the apartment. Charlestown being just a short walk away and having a number of eateries to choose from made dining out a car-free pleasure. Extensive building work is going on opposite although in fairness we had been warned of this by the owners and have to say that it did not affect our enjoyment of the holiday though we suspect some people could find the constant workmen activity and number of cars parked on the road a problem finding somewhere to park themselves if they were unable to put their vehicle in the garage which has a very narrow access. Some previous holidaymaker had bent the garage door key making it difficult to use, in fact whilst we were still able to use the garage to park the car we did not lock the door after we had opened it on arrival as we were concerned about unlocking it to get our car out! Access to the beach and the South West Coast Path was good and directions received from the owners could not be faulted. All in all the pluses far outweighed the minuses and we would certainly consider booking again and recommending it to friends.

  • "Sadly the weather was somewhat 'inclement' but no-one has control over that!"

It was nice to know we had somewhere clean and comfortable to return to at the end of the day.The accommodation was excellent. Everything we needed - even a garage to put the car in! The balcony was a real bonus as when the sun did break out it was lovely to have an outside space to sit out. Quiet too. There was building work going on on the other side of the apartment building but I can't say that it bothered us at all except that the roads were a little congested with the works vans but having the garage meant that there was no problem with parking. Restaurants and eating places in Charlestown were excellent - particularly the Pier Head Hotel - wonderful service. Good location to visit lots of the popular sights around Cornwall. Unfortunately no small shop for emergencies so it was a short car journey to Tesco, Asda or Lidl. Weather aside, everything else was excellent.

  • "This apartment is lovely with beautiful views of the sea."

It only has a couple of very minor issues which is why it is not the super smiley face for facilities. In the main bedroom it could do with much thicker curtains as the courtyard is brightly lit at night and so therefore is your bedroom. The second is the washer/dryer is not very good and really needs replacing and the third and last is that the owners have provided lovely plates, glasses and cutlery and then let it down with cheap plastic cooking utensils. Everything else in the apartment is spotlessly clean, bright and airy. The apartment is much bigger than I thought from the photos so that was a very pleasant surprise. There is some building work going on across the way but that did not disturb us in fact it was a lovely distraction for the grown up boys. We had a lovely week and I would not hesitate to recommend.

  • "We were never told that the apartment was immediately opposite a major building site."

The noise from the working was very unfortunate, especially as they started at 7am every day. We would have loved a lie in on at least one of the days, but no. The noise was too great - apart from the Sunday. We also noticed that other guests had experienced the same problem as they wrote so in the visitors book. Apartment would have been great if if wasn't for this. Everything else worked well.

The location was ideal for my aim of enjoying a week of relaxation and some outdoor activity, with my wife readily pulling on her walking shoes. Being just off the South West Coast Path, this was perfect for walks to both eastward and westward locations. If we had wanted an easy outdoor day, there was the opportunity of a stroll on the private beach, just 5 minutes walk from the apartment. The weather, also, played a part with my intention to photograph parts of the area, enjoying relative warmth in the early November sun. After a full day walking / photography it was good to settle down in the apartment, relaxing after dinner then reviewing the images taken during the day. With the benefit of a washer/dryer the clothes could be clean and dry with minimal fuss, ready for another day. After a week, Saturday morning saw the car packed for the journey home, taking with us many wonderful memories.
