  • "Thankyou for a lovely stay."

Oh Buoy! is a fantastic little cottage. Very well equipped and comfortable. We loved how close the cottage was to the harbour and in walking distance of many pubs/cafes/restaurants. We would love to come back in the future! Thanks again.

  • "We know Charlestown well, one of the best locations in Cornwall, but it’s the first time we’ve stayed there."

And it did not disappoint! Oh Buoy is delightful; clean, well appointed and well equipped, and the parking space is a real bonus! It is set in a quiet courtyard, peaceful and tranquil, but only a few short steps from the hustle and bustle of the harbour familiar to anyone who watched Poldark. Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan and Lanhydrock are all just a few minutes drive away; or relax on the secluded patio, then stroll down to the harbour for lunch. Highly recommended

  • "We had a lovely 2 week stay here."

It has everything you need, is spotlessly clean and in a great location for exploring Cornwall. The facilities in the house were of a very high standard, including cutlery, crockery and pans etc which we have often found to be poor quality in other places we have stayed. Faultless service from the host, we contacted her a couple of times and she was very quick in her response. On arrival we were greeted with homemade scones and clotted cream and a bottle of fizz which was a very nice touch. Would definitely recommend.

  • "‘Oh Buoy!"

’ was a home from home & looked exactly as beautiful as the photos! The decor and attention to detail really makes it a special stay, every time we walked through the door my daughter said ‘Oh wow’ and I think that sums our stay up perfectly. Victoria really went the extra mile by providing a welcome card (with contact details on) scones with clotted cream & jam, Prosecco and milk - we felt so welcome! As we have a toddler, it was also a bonus to have space for the travel cot and we also found a stair gate and high chair there - this made our stay much more comfortable (and safe!). Also the addition of a washing machine when you have little ones and a clothes horse is very beneficial! The weather was amazing which helped too. Overall we had a wonderful week and would love to come back. We’ve always been huge fans of Charlestown too, so the location was perfect for us!

Thank you soooo much for your lovely, kind words it really is appreciated Property Owner

  • "We enjoyed our week at Oh Bouy."

The cottage is beautiful and well situated in Charlestown. It was so well styled and could easily be in the pages of a Glossy magazine. The cream tea was delicious and the Prosecco perfect. If I could make one suggestion it would be a full length mirror. In a light area. It wasnt easy to get ready every day. Even on holiday I like to do my hair and makeup. However, it wouldn’t stop us returning. In fact we are already booked for September. From a personal viewpoint I would give Oh Bouy four stars but thats because I have a mobility problem so stairs are not my favourite but as I said, we are booked for September and looking forward to it. I will take the stairs slowly. Also it would be very mean for me to give four stars so five it is. A big thank you to Victoria. You are a star. See you in September.

It has been thoughtfully decorated, and has everything you need and is really well maintained. Really nice touch with the welcome cream tea and wine. The property is well positioned to visit many areas and sites, as well as being a short stroll from the coast path. Charlestown itself, although small has a good selection of shops and some excellent restaurants.

It is thoughtfully and beautifully decorated throughout, super clean with everything you need to make your stay comfortable and relaxing. The added welcome on arrival of a lovely cream tea from Victoria (the owner) was absolutely delicious and well received after a long drive. We only stayed for two nights as my main reason for visiting was to visit to The Eden Project which was only about 15 mins drive away. We wished we could have stayed for longer next time we will; this cottage is a real gem in the heart of Charlestown!

It was so beautifully decorated, with lots of little special touches to make the place feel like home (games, books, DVDs, beach items). We felt so relaxed in the open-plan room upstairs, with beautiful views over the trees. After a busy day, it was the perfect place to unwind! It’s perfectly situated to explore Charlestown (which is lovely and seems very up-and-coming) and other Cornwall attractions like The Eden Project & The Lost Gardens of Heligan. The only small point we would make is that we forgot to bring along a a baby bath tub for our toddler, which would have been a bit easier come bath time.

A massive bonus ! From the first moment that we saw the property we were thrilled. Immaculate throughout. The comfiest bed, with extremely high quality linen . Fabulous pristine white towels. Great shower and bathroom. The sofa is huge and extremely comfortable. Great for chilling on an evening gazing out at the beautiful trees and greenery and listening to the birds chirruping. Great kitchen , with a very efficient boiler , plenty of storage and fully equipped with a welcome card, fresh flowers , prosecco and basic essentials and scones, jam and cream were all provided as a welcome gift. Lots of storage for clothes and suitcases. Best of all a lovely garden with comfy seating and sat out with a glass of wine in the sunshine and we dried our washing out there on the airer each day . The position of Oh Buoy is brilliant, so close to restaurants and bars and of course the wonderful harbour. Charlestown is perfect for popping to Eden Project and Mevagissy , Fowey , each only 20 minutes away and the roads are great! We walked along to Carlyon Bay one day and what a surprise.. the sandy beach and stalls selling refreshments and pastries, despite it being midweek and early morning. Oh Buoy is such a home from home , perfect. A credit to the owner, Victoria who we met briefly upon our arrival who was. So friendly and helpful . I cannot praise the property enough.

The property

Situated in the heart of one of the most attractive and sought after seaside villages in Cornwall, this beautifully and stylishly furnished stone cottage is set in a small private mews just a short stroll from the harbour of the historic Georgian working port of Charlestown.

As you arrive and enter this delightful cottage you immediately sense the homely feel and character with a nautical influence that carries on throughout.

Designed in an 'upside down' style the two bedrooms are both located on the ground floor along with the bathroom.

On the first floor the open plan living room offers total comfort and relaxation with cosy seating, a country style dining area and a well equipped kitchen.

Outside, the patio area offers a delightful suntrap where you can relax with a refreshing drink and decide whether to dine alfresco or take a short walk to one of the fine choices of restaurants, pubs and cafes.

Charlestown to this day remains unspoilt and full of Georgian character.

Looking at the fleet of magnificent square rigger ships in the harbour you are transported back into a bygone era and it is easy to see why this is such a popular setting for films and TV series such as Poldark.

A wonderful setting in a beautiful cottage for a truly memorable holiday whatever time of year.
