"Pirata is a lovely little cottage and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here."

It's cosy, quiet and peaceful and has the benefit of having it's own reserved parking. Upon arrival we found the cottage perfectly clean (no pet hairs) and everything worked (which isn't always the case). The outside seating area has good quality table and 4 chairs and is private being well screened by the hedging. Perfect place to enjoy an outside drink if the weather allows. You first meet the ground floor bedrooms which are both well lit, well serviced by bedside tables, comfy, peaceful and allow a great nights sleep. The bathroom is fully functional with a great adjustable shower. The only issue in the bathroom is, maybe some frosted glass so you don't need the blind down permanently. The light and fan worked faultlessly. Upstairs is a well laid out lounge, kitchen and diner - all good. The only issues might be the lack of a microwave (for convenience) and some info regarding waste disposal and recycling (we couldn't find where to leave recycling). The Broadband works very well, even at the outside seating area. Connection is easy, using the name and password printed on the back of the router (as is always the case). This cottage is only a moments stroll from all the restaurants, bars and amenities Charlestown has to offer so we would highly recommend pirata and would definitely book again.

"The communication was not acceptable from the property owner."

We got there and the bathroom lightI and fan wasnt working. If it wasnt for Ben we would have had to shower and go to the toilet in the dark for 5 days as still i days later and back off our weeks break and we still haven't heard off the owner. He provided us with a couple of camping lights and did eventually get someone out 5 days in. Regarding the house itself it was nice. Could do with a microwave for convenience and a bit of tlc in the front courtyard bit as was getting slightly over grown but other than that nice.

"We picked this cottage due to the proximity to the South West Coastal Path and off road parking."

It is smaller than the photos suggest and we therefore thought overpriced for a 2 bedroom cottage. The living space is lovely but the huge bed in the downstairs bedroom made it feel very cramped. The garden was overgrown, not well maintained as the description suggested, and we got soaked walking up and down the path. In the end we had to trim the branches back ourselves. Unusually there were no oven gloves, kitchen towel or jay cloths and the milk in the fridge had gone off as it was already two days out of date. Having said all that, we had a great week and would book again as the location is great. Worth going over to Eden Project to the do the parkrun.

"We enjoyed everything about our stay at this cottage."

The location was perfect and within walking distance to everything Charlestown offers. The cottage was beautifully presented and well equipped and ticked all the boxes for a nice few days away.

"Lovely cottage in a great location."

Very clean and well-presented throughout with all the facilities you need for a comfortable stay, including a private parking spot. The bathroom light is faulty, but turning it on and off usually works to fix it. It would have been nice to have a welcome package for information on connecting to the wifi, using the heating, oven etc. We found that upstairs was very warm and comfortable during the evenings but it did get quite cold downstairs (though there is a plug-in heater if needed). Overall, we had a great time and would return.

"We stayed at Pirata in September 2024."

We had a very mixed stay with the property. Firstly the plus points - The location is excellent and off road parking in Charlestown is at a premium so it was great that this was included. The kitchen was generally well equipped (however missing the microwave that was advertised) and the beds were comfortable. Unfortunately this was outweighed by the negatives. The cottage had not been cleaned prior to our arrival and we were unable to contact the owners. Sykes were eventually able to contact them the next day, but we had to spend a night in used beds. The bathroom was very dated, smelled damp and had an old flickering halogen light which only turned on intermittently. The bedroom had french doors looking out onto decking, which should have been lovely, however the doors were warped and did not close properly, the week we visited was cold and wet and there was therefore a constant draft from the doors making it impossible to warm the lower portion of the property. We were provided with a nominal refund for the lack of housekeeping on the first day, but this did not cover even 1/10th of the cost of the stay. Overall would not recommend, although as noted above location, parking and nearby Charlestown are fantastic.

    "Nice little place."

Quiet . Spacious . A couple of minutes walk to the harbour. A minutes walk to the closest pub. Only negatives are the bathroom light has a strobe effect if not switched on properly. Can't shut the door in master bedroom. Not a problem for us as it was just two of us Our check in was 3pm, we arrived just after but property wasn't ready. Was a bit confusing with the parking with the van in the way. No problem though... Went to the pub for a while. Other than that we had a great few days

"We knew the property was pet friendly which was not a problem but there were pet hairs everywhere…clumps on the stair carpet…and in corners of the living area…the two sofas and arm chair were covered in pet hair we didn’t think pets would be allowed on the furniture?"

Our mistake should have checked …smaller sofa has stains on it too..we just felt it wasn’t as clean as it could have been … Frosted glass in the bathroom would be nice …the lane was quite busy ! We did leave the blind down most of the time ..The main bedroom has plenty of plug points but needs perhaps a shelf at the back of the door ? Bedside table tops a tad small Apart from that the house is lovely nice kitchen area and eating area …love the location very quiet and great parking space …love the sea view too ! We enjoyed sitting out on the decking at the front

"Pirata is in a great location."

Charlestown is a really pretty small historic port with shingle beaches. It is handy driving distance to Heligan and Eden Project. Pirata was lovely and quiet with very comfy beds. There is nearly everything you might need (except a teapot) to self-cater but the restaurants nearby are very good. It was all very clean and comfortable. We liked the oil painting and pictures. Everything was in good order with just a couple of very minor maintenance issues -the rope bannister (2 brackets have been pulled off the wall), and the spiky plants by the garden gate need cutting back.
