  • "Just a fabulous cottage that was very well appointed and so comfortable."

The quiet location was perfect for relaxing in front of the log fire and totally unwinding. Having the games room was great but I’m sure the pool table was faulty because my girlfriend kept beating me

Thank you so much for your great feedback. We are so pleased you enjoyed our cottage and Cornwall. Hopefully you will visit Dromore in the future , if only to let your wife beat you at pool again. It would be a pleasure having you stay and for leaving everything so tidy Property Owner

  • "We had a great holiday."

The cottage was so clean and lovely. The added games room was great with lots of choice. The cottage had all the amenities needed and the eggs, biscuits and milk left for us was a lovely touch after a long journey. We had such a nice stay and the cottage was not far from places such as port issac and bodmin. The old inn pub just a walk away has lovely food and the staff are so lovely and friendly. We'd definitely come back to this cottage again in the future. The cottage is very quiet and lovely for a week away with the family. I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone. Thank you for a lovely stay.

  • "Our recent stay at Dromore was lovely."

It was clean and charming accommodation. The owner's instructions regarding arrival and departure were clear, and they lived alongside us if we had any issues, which we did not. We loved the house, particularly the games room, and, more importantly, the milk, eggs, and biscuits left for us when we arrived. The owner told us that the nearby local shop had closed and left us these essentials so we could unwind when we got there. We heartily recommend this property. It is a lovely house in a great, rural location. We enjoyed it, and if we could give it more than five stars, we would. My family and I had a great holiday. Thanks a bunch for a fabulous stay!!

) Very clean, cosy and warm. Unusual "Ventilation system" constant hum is disturbing - drowned out the total silence of the countryside location of the cottage which was a shame. Lovely location, village shop (great pasties!) and pub. Walking straight onto the moor from cottage was great.

The pub is a short walk and food is great, best to book in high season especially the Sunday Carvery. • "It is hard to understand why a self-catering property that accommodates up to 6 people and has so much room, has 2 of the smallest fridge freezers available!"

These are not expensive items and there is ample space in the utility (for example) for a larder fridge and an under counter freezer. Even just two of us in autumnal weather used both fridges to capacity and I wonder how larger groups manage to keep everything cool during hot summer months. There was also only one small, worn out frying pan. The other gripe is with the weird ventilation system which when I asked, was told by Ivor Hemmings that it could not be switched off. If a customer is renting a property they should have control of how they want their ventilation, heating etc - it's not a B&B or hotel. That said, the cottage was really lovely and we would have been happy to thoroughly recommend it, if it wasn't for the abrupt Mr Hemmings. Yes, he did greet us on arrival and reeled off a list of info and said if we needed anything to just ask. Well, I don't think Mr H likes being asked. This is a copy of text messages: From me to Ivor: Good evening, Ivor! Could we please have some more logs for the fire! We're on our way back, so perhaps you could put them outside our door? Sorry, had a look this morning but don't know where to get them from. Thank you, Julie  From Ivor to me in reply: Morning didn't get your txt until late in evening. I was in the middle of trying to locate water leak, which took all evening. We supply logs as a goodwill gesture not as a right. Regards Ivor  From me to Ivor: Sorry, website says fuel and power included in rent and woodburner is mentioned so we thought logs would be provided. Never mind. From Ivor to me: We have provided logs and we told you they were at the back of the shed.  It seems that Ivor told us when we arrived (never met Mrs H, so there was no "we") but after a long journey we just didn't take it in and there is no information about this in the info folder provided (in fact, minor effort has been put into this overall - old wifi connection details, no local walks etc). I did look in the shed but not behind it, so assumed that they were kept on Ivor's property, hence asking him to drop some off. A simple first reply should have been something like "you'll find the logs behind the shed" and not an admonishment on our rights and privileges! There is a hose attached to the front of the cottage which we used briefly to spray some bird poo off the windscreen of the car. Ivor came rushing out to us "what are you doing with my hose??!!" and grabbed it off us. We explained. He reeled it back and stormed off. We were a bit speechless. Why would that be any problem at all, given that it was connected to the property we were renting? What a petty, rude man.

We wouldn’t stay in St Brewards again for the simple reason there is nothing to do there, you need to go out in the car everyday, and the roads are single track most of the way into the village but this could be our fault for not doing our research.

Upon arrival the owner came to greet us and I said how cold it was inside, he said the heating comes on and off during the day and that if I’m cold I could put on a extra jumper,We wasn’t impressed by the remark but thought we just see how it goes. Hence to say the heating went off and we had to use the sofa throws to stay warm. The owner came the next day as I said it too cold and he unlocked a cupboard and changed the settings on the heater unit. I said I’d like it on all night and he told my husband that no one has heating on all night! There also was a ventilation unit blowing cold air into the rooms to which we only realised on Thursday . I would of thought this would of been turned off before our arrival. We contacted Sykes about how we couldn’t put heating on when it was needed and they spoke to the owner. Just make sure you only stay here in the summer months .

There was only one of everything per person ie: 1 knife, 1 fork, 1 plate etc per person, I found this a little frustrating as I can use numerous of these when cooking but that maybe just me. The dishwasher was used alot. I'm not sure if this is the norm in holiday homes as it's only our second time we have booked a holiday home. We did eat out alot and the local pubs food was lovely.

While we had everything we needed we would have liked a few more items in the kitchen. We did a fair bit of cooking but there were no bowls for anything other than cereal/desserts. There was only 6 of all the items, glasses, plates, cutlery and while we were only a party of 6 we did occasionally have need of more. The dishwasher was out of salt and rinse aid but this is not uncommon in rentals, so we topped them up. There were no cleaning products or spare cloths. These are very small things though and in the main we had a great experience at Dromore.

Very spacious and clean with all modern appliances. Bathrooms and showers were really nice. Place was really well maintained. Felt like the well kept home we had left. Really fun to have a games room. Wifi was a bit patchy at the ends of the house. Probably due to the original thick brick walls !! Which was a great authentic feature. Only downside which was small was that there were exactly 6 place settings. So you needed to wash up after every meal. Dishwasher was there so not a big deal but only improvement I could suggest. The property

Perfectly located for touring all of Cornwall and situated right on Bodmin Moor, this really cosy yet spacious old cottage is set in the village of St Breward, well known from the Poldark TV series, 7 miles north of Bodmin. The whole family will delight in the homely feel that exudes throughout from the moment you enter.

Full of character, with its beamed ceilings and large stone fireplaces, Dromore is a relaxing cottage beautifully furnished throughout.

There are three bedrooms on the first floor, all of which offer a comfortable retreat at the end of a busy day.

The children will love the games room with a choice of pool, table tennis, air hockey and darts to occupy them while the adults relax on the massive sofa in the living room.

There is even a handy outdoor shower in the summer season, perfect for cleaning off after a day spent surfing, biking or exploring and a shed which can be used to store bikes, surf boards and wet suits.

Very close by there is a childrenÂ’s playground, one of two in the village.

Also in St Breward are Cornwall's highest church and the highest inn in the county, the welcoming Old Inn and restaurant which dates back to the 11th century and is famous for its delicious home-cooked food.

Even in the colder months a warm and friendly welcome is assured here with huge roaring log fires which will be a pleasing sight after a great walk on the moors or a climb up the two highest tors in the county, both within the parish.

With the starting point of the Camel Trail close by cyclists are well catered for; why not take the beautiful and scenic ride to Padstow for lunch before returning at your leisure where this wonderfully quiet cottage will guarantee a good night's sleep?

Horse riding offering great rides along the stunning moors is available close by and is a good way to see the moorland.

Dromore is a very special cottage in a traditional moorland village to be enjoyed all year round.
