  • "Lovely little property, well maintained and equipped."

Only thing like to have seen would have been a boot tray to out dirty walking boys on rather than standing on a mat by main door.

We knew Alex was away for the weekend but she'd let contact details just incase we needed anything. The cottage itself is cosy, warm & well equipped. The sea is a 5min walk along the road & St.Just is handy to for supplies. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday staying at Cot Valley Cottage.

Alex and Alec have provided all we want. It is easily accessible for our needs and the walk to Porth Nanven Cove is a few minutes away and a wonderful viewpoint for glorious sunsets. This was our second holiday at Cot Valley Cottage and we will be back. The location is perfect, the roads are very narrow and almost isolated from the rest of the world. Thank you Alex and Alec for another wonderful break!

We did not want to return home. A clean and fresh cottage with the lovely sound of the stream to wake up to. Wonderful welcome pack and a lovely owner, Alex. We were very lucky to have such wonderful weather considering how bad it's been. The only downside to that was how hot it was at night. Would definitely return and advise friends and family to go. • "Cot Valley Cottage is a perfect place for exploring the beautiful coast on foot around Land's End."

No need for the car; a footpath just outside the cottage leads to the Coastal Path. Alternatively a short walk to St Just gives access to an excellent hop on hop off bus service that runs around the peninsular from St Ives to Penzance. The cottage itself is in a delightful quiet location with two sets of patio doors leading directly onto a private sunny patio set besides a babbling brook. There is a car parking space next to the cottage. Inside, the cottage is modern, comfortable, warm and cosy. It is very well equipped and has been very tastefully decorated and furnished. The modern kitchen has everything that you would expect to find, likewise the modern bathroom. The owners provided a very generous and thoughtful welcome pack to start your stay; they live close by if you need them but they respect your privacy. To summarise, Cot Valley Cottage is as good as they come and we have visited many excellent Sykes cottages in great locations. John and Linda April 2023

.. it was nicely furnished with excellent quality linens, towels, cutlery and pots etc and we even had a welcome pack with eggs, milk, butter, croissants, jam, biscuits and a nice bottle of NZ Sav Blanc. The owner came down to meet us and ensure everything was OK and explained the best way to get into St Just, about 15 minutes away. The situation of the cottage is rural and superb for peace and quiet but close to the beach and paths/tracks for walking, running etc. A perfect place to stay...

We didn’t use the car all week, walking from the cottage along the coastal path in both directions and up into St Just is delightful. We enjoyed a few lazy afternoons on the beach at Porth Nanven. We also took the circular coaster bus service from St Just, which has amazing views from the open top deck. This was the first time that we have returned to a cottage for a second visit, but this cottage and its location are so perfect we will be booking again.

We were welcomed with perhaps the most impressive basket of goodies I think I have ever seen in a rental. The spec at Cot Valley Cottage is top end and the cottage is very comfortable. The space has been optimised all the way down the line. The gunera provided wonderful shade and the breeze off the stream made for a delightfully cool week amidst the heat of August. The cottage is at the bottom of the owners' graden, but you'd hardly know. And in any case, the owners are so helpful that why wouldn't you want to bump into them? This is five stars plus. The location itself is terrific. Ten minutes to the beach, 15 to the shops... Park the car and don't drive anywhere for a week.

To say that this cottage is situated in paradise is no exaggeration. When sitting outside there is the calming sound of the nearby stream running along side the patio through the valley leading to the sea. The sound of bird song and nature is bountiful. The inside of the cottage is stunningly decorated with a high quality kitchen, bathroom and furnishings throughout the cottage. The owner Alex was lovely, very helpful and provided an excellent supply of equipment for our self catering stay. A wonderful welcome hamper was much appreciated. The decor is contemporary calm, with a pocket sprung memory foam bed, crisp linen, fluffy towels and bathrobes ensuring a restful stay.

Outside is a small patio with garden furniture for relaxing and dining.

The sea is just 10 minutes' walk away so you can enjoy a morning swim followed by breakfast on the sunny terrace beside the stream.

It is easy to understand why it is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and it is also a Site of Special Scentific Interest.

About the location

ST JUST

Penzance 7.2 miles; St Ives 12.9 miles.

St Just is the nearest town to Land’s End and is situated approximately eight miles west of Penzance. The town itself is an ancient settlement that has a strong mining history and there are several monuments and prehistoric antiquities to visit including the Bronze Age settlement at Cape Cornwall. St Just is ideally located for visitors to explore the far west of Cornwall as it is situated on the edge of the moors and close to the beautiful north coast. In the centre of the town is Plain-an-Gwarry, a theatre used for miracle plays in medieval times, and in more recent times for the Lafrowda Festival.
