  • "Having no wifi was not an issue for me but for my husband who is not on a contract phone, he found it a bit hard because while out in Pubs, he finds it rude to be checking his tablet while in public."

I did have good phone reception throughout the property with Vodafone. The cottage was lovely, warm and dry after walking through sheets of rain around the scenic country side! We enjoyed our stay for this past week in your lovely cottage. Thank you.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We are delighted to advise that Molly's Cottage has just had WiFi installed! Property Owner

Plus the key to front door and the lock needs attention as sometimes works and other times very difficult to get access. Also the shower was either too hot or too cold. No wifi is a big disadvantage but luckily I have family in St. Just so was able to get access to the internet. Trouble with re-cycling as could not find the correct bin next to the car park. Please can you provide bags for recycling. However we did have a good time and despite the items mentioned the cottage suited us very well.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback, we have taken your comments on board and will look into these issues. As you are aware, the property is not currently advertised with WiFi, but we do plan to install it at the end of this year. We're pleased to hear that you had a good time at Mollys Cottage. Conveniently situated as only short walk into town centre with amenities and to bus services. Mile walk to beech very picturesque and ideal location for series of short walks under 5 miles. Wi-Fi would enhance the cottage especially as phone coverage with some networks is variable at best and several attractions prefer online booking. Parking could be tricky but not an issue as near by car park was free.

  • "Molly's Cottage is a small terraced old miners cottage within easy walking distance of the central square in St Just."

The cottage was sparklingly clean and warm and cosy. The lounge/diner is small but cosy. The TV is ridiculously small. The cottage was sparklingly clean and warm and cosy. The lounge/diner is small but cosy. The TV is ridiculously small. The kitchen is compact but very well equipped - and the fridge is a fridge with an icebox (not a fridge freezer). The washing machine works well and there's both a line outside and an airer for when it rains. The yard at the back catches afternoon sun and has a picnic table. Both bedrooms are a good size with excellent storage space. The electric shower is good and the slightly shorter than normal length bath is deep. There is no wifi at Molly's Cottage, but we had an excellent 4G signal with Vodafone. We had a minor problem with the shower leaking, but house keeping resolved it on the same day that we reported it (and the lockbox for the keys meant that we didn't have to stay in for it to be fixed). Details on how to recycle do need to be updated on the house manual and both the kitchen and the bathroom would benefit from extractor fans - it was relatively warm and dry when we stayed, so opening a window wasn't a problem. Finally, the street is narrow and parking is difficult as there are more houses than parking spaces. We managed to park outside on Friday - handy for packing the car on Saturday morning, but you should expect to park your car in St Just's free car park.

  • "Great location close to the town and local pubs and restaurants, and ideal for walking, lots to see and do."

a very quiet street and area. Parking can be a bit tight, but the main town car park is a short walk and is free, we found that there was a space out side the cottage which was free most of the time. We loved the place and will book again.

.told out side front door. Lucky if you managed it during day as builders in adjoining cottages. Free cark quite near told 3 minute walk. Anyone with walking problems would find it hard as long slow hill. Would have liked bath or shower after travelling. No hot water until next morning as economy 7 heats overnight. Luke warm water then. Mixer on bath doesn't work. About 4inchs of water when bath run. Called person on cottage info , she arranged a plumber but that took a week. He adjusted some thing on hot water tank then wonderful hot water. Tv not reliable suggest ariel adjustment to pick up BBC. Upstairs bedrooms nice but living room could do with up date dark and gloomy. Having said this I would return in summer months not Sept/Oct.

Thank you for your comments. Parking is on a quiet road; which we do say in our website text. The owner has confirmed that the free car park is a 3-5-minute walk from the property, this may vary depending on a person's mobility. It is only the heating which is on Economy 7, the hot water is heated by the immersion heater ... Continue reading Property Owner

Thank you for your comments. Parking is on a quiet road; which we do say in our website text. The owner has confirmed that the free car park is a 3-5-minute walk from the property, this may vary depending on a person's mobility. It is only the heating which is on Economy 7, the hot water is heated by the immersion heater and takes around an hour to heat from switching on. We've not received any previous comments regarding the TV reception and the owners have confirmed that they have not had any problems, possibly it might have been weather related and the atmospherics? We're glad that you would stay at Mollys Cottage again and we look forward to seeing you in the future. Property Owner

Lots of nice coastal walks nearby, however the lack of WiFi and with there being no signal in the property, this was a big disappointment. Also the shower was really poor, if there was WiFi and an electric shower I would come back in a second.

  • "Comfy place."

However, lighting is very poor downstairs as is far too bright- A lamp or two would sort that out. Also, it's just as well that we brought a spare blanket as there was a shortage of blankets.

Thank you for taking the time to complete your feedback following your recent stay at Mollys Cottage. We have spoken with the owner who has asked us to cover the points mentioned. What really let it down was the fact the most important things involving sleeping and personal hygiene were a complete failure. The double bed was a poor quality basic bed which had been easily broken by previous guests a year ago. It was mended using pieces of wood and screws making it look unprofessional in quality. Also there was the likelihood it could be easily broken again with rough activity. The mattress was made of a poor quality memory foam which made it impossible to either get a good nights sleep or to turn over without the bed squeaking and creaking or myself or my wife disturbing each other as the bed sagged rather badly in the middle under our combined weight of 31 stone. Furthermore, being elderly, I am 72 and my wife will soon be 70, we were unable to bath, shower and fulfil basic levels of cleanliness only with extreme difficulty. On the one occasion I tried to have a bath, my wife took about half an hour to get me out. My legs could not allow me to stand up as my feet could not get a grip on the wet and slippery plastic base of the bath, there were no handles to hold on to support my weight and I kept on slipping down. Neither of us wanted to repeat this terrifying experience! The hand held shower mixer was useless as the hot water which had very little pressure was quickly nullified by the overpowering pressure of the cold water, making it impossible to mix the two as soon as the unit was raised above the level of the bottom of the hot water tank. All the windows apart from the front bedroom we were unable to open, until unlocked by the owner.

  • "Lovely little cottage which included all the little things you would not expect to find in a holiday property."

    Would definitely visit again.

  • "This was accommodation for guys working away from home."

The landlord very kindly let us have this cottage for a a number of weeks during the busy holiday season for which we were very grateful as a hotel would have been very expensive. Sykes were very easy to deal with and gave a very efficient service. Staff were always friendly and professional.

The property

This 19th century miners cottage is situated in the small town of St Just, this is England's most westerly town.

It has been beautifully restored to provide a cosy and welcoming base for enjoying all the facilities the town offers and exploring this magical part of the county.

Step up from the front door into the small hall and then into the charming sitting room with its atmospheric beams, squashy sofa and electric fire.

It also has a dining table where you can enjoy meals prepared in the well equipped kitchen.

Head upstairs at the end of the day to two comfortable bedrooms, with glimpses of the sea from the single room.

Outside you have a neat enclosed patio which can be accessed from the kitchen, making it an ideal space to eat alfresco.

If you don't feel like cooking yourself, wander to the friendly pubs and cafes on the doorstep.

The town is interesting, with a range of good galleries and little shops, and all around is spectacular scenery to walk and admire.

Cape Cornwall, Cot Valley and Porth Nanven cove with its strange dinosaur eggs are stunning places to visit, or walk the South West Coast Path to observe prehistoric remains and dramatic mine ruins.

For surfers, Sennen Cove is famous for its waves.

Land's End, Pendeen Lighthouse, Geevor Mine, St Ives and the Minack Theatre should all be on your itinerary too, meaning Molly's Cottage will be a restful and welcome base at the end of action-packed days.

About the location

ST JUST

Penzance 7.2 miles; St Ives 12.9 miles.

St Just is the nearest town to Land’s End and is situated approximately eight miles west of Penzance. The town itself is an ancient settlement that has a strong mining history and there are several monuments and prehistoric antiquities to visit including the Bronze Age settlement at Cape Cornwall. St Just is ideally located for visitors to explore the far west of Cornwall as it is situated on the edge of the moors and close to the beautiful north coast. In the centre of the town is Plain-an-Gwarry, a theatre used for miracle plays in medieval times, and in more recent times for the Lafrowda Festival.
