Thank you very much for your feedback. We do not advertise that the property specifically has WiFi but you can connect to the local hotspot close by. We have completed many updates throughout the property, and invested in the decor, so we are sad to hear that you feel it is dated, however we thank you for your comments and do hope you enjoyed your stay. Welcoming bottle of wine and milk in fridge on arrival. Close to Wishing Well halt if you don’t want to use the car, Liskeard - Looe. Lack of wi-fi became a bit of an issue as we like to plan online for next day, also signal on phone wasn’t too good but if that doesn’t bother you then would recommend a stay here!

Really handy for the branch line between Liskard and Looe so we didn't always need to use the car. Although the cottage is dog friendly we couldn't tell! No lingering doggie smells (our dogs are bad travellers so we leave them in kennels). All in all a great week in a cosy, clean, well equipped cottage, what more do you need!

  • "A quaint magic place, part of an old mill complex."

The abiding memories will last. Wild garlic scented walks in the evening, the East Looe river (with brown trout) gurgling at the edge of the property. A vineyard within an energetic stroll, (a good white wine). Your own very nearly private station halt to take you into Looe and back for an evening meal and drinks, or a days excursion with the dog along the Cornwall Coastal Path. Taking the train was cheaper and much less stress when going into Looe. From May onwards parking in any seaside town in Devon/Cornwall can be a problem. You can abandon your car and 'let the train take the strain' as they say. Clean, tidy and well appointed. The four steps that have to be negotiated to the door could be awkward for some a little less able.

The little cottage was extremely well and thoughtfully equipped and the hosts were on hand if we needed any advice, or just to wave a friendly greeting. It was all so well thought out. We could relax and enjoy the peace, only broken by birdsong. We were lucky with the weather and were able to sit out on the little patio area before or after a trip out. The fact that we were located beside the picturesque Looe Valley railway line was an added bonus. You truly could not hear the trains at other times but it was a delight to be able to travel to Looe for the day and then just step off the train and be home. We had our dog with us and she had her own little fenced area of the garden, as well as being able to walk the little country lanes surrounding the cottage with very rarely a car passing by. We loved our break at the Retreat.

  • "The owners were warm and friendly and we were made to feel most welcome."

Nothing was too much trouble for them. A nice touch was wine and milk in the fridge for our arrival (plus a large Bonio for our dog). The cottage was well appointed and had everything that we needed, all in very good condition. Whilst the cottage is in a very quiet location, both Looe and Liskeard are easy to get to (less than 1/2 an hour by car). We would happily recommend this cottage to family and friends.

  • "The tranquil position of the cottage was great."

It was central for most of the areas that we wanted to visit while we were there. The owners were very friendly and made us feel welcome by chatting to us most days and the bottle of wine they left for us. The property had all mod cons.

A really lovely place to stay. A lovely cottage, great for peace and quiet. A good base for exploring. The 'Music Machine Museum' adds fun to the stay.

If we have an opportunity we will certainly return to the Retreat - certainly several of our friends have placed it on their list! The location was ideal for exploring Cornwall.
