  • "Beautiful house, very high spec."

    Short drive from some stunning beaches. Level access and ground floor bedroom with wet room made it an accessible property for the wheelchair user in our group. The pool was lovely and owners were very helpful beforehand explaining it may be a little chilly given it was the first week of it being turned on. But actually it was very pleasant! Not for publication: Keys and recycling bags mentioned in the welcome book were missing. We informed sykes, but with the bags they sent instructions that differed from the welcome book. They called rather than replied on message, and I was unable to return calls due to signal at the property. We ended up just putting recycling and general waste in 2 different bins. Also, we informed sykes that although surfaces etc at the property were clean, there was lots of deep clean issues. A lot of dog hair, cobwebs and dust. We have photos, but a deep clean is needed. We didn't hear back from sykes during our stay on this issue. The extra keys weren't located where they should've been (in the utility cupboard). We didn't need them, but just for info. Finally apologies but a glass and cafetiere were broken during our stay.

  • "Communication from Sykes was the challenge during the holiday."

    We booked a home with a heated pool to allow children to enjoy it. We queried prior to booking that the pool would be heated and this was confirmed. It didn’t seem heated on arrival so we asked for some support on how to turn on that heating. This return communication never came and the additional expense of booking a house with a pool was almost entirely wasted. We also had to unblock two shows drains due to bad smells and poor drainage. Not great.

    Thank you completing your feedback. The pool is heated and available from May to September. With it being an outdoor pool, if the weather is particularly chilly this can affect the pool temperature. The pool temperature was checked and found to be in the mid- twenties - a little, cooler than normal but it was a particularly cold week. The owner whilst at the property has checked the drains and could not detect any smell. The drainage system has recently been flushed and cleaned and everything is flowing, as it should be. Nestling among the open fields and winding hedgerows of north Cornwall, this tiny village offers a quiet contrast from the summer bustle of nearby Newquay.
