The property

Star of the Sea is a charm-filled, end-terrace cottage situated in the third largest fishing port in England.

This Cornish dwelling, nestled in the heart of Newlyn, is suited to a romantic couple looking to explore the beautiful South West peninsula, hosting Penzance, Mousehole and the notable St. Michael's Mount.

The interior is presented in a country cottage fashion, with flagstone flooring and exposed beams painted a chalky blue.

An upholstered, two-seater sofa and matching armchair crowd around the woodburning stove, where you can curl up after a long walk and warm your toes.

Rustle up something delicious in the well-equipped kitchen to the rear of the cottage, crack open a bottle of fine wine and enjoy a steaming hot meal at the dining table.

Climb the open-tread staircase up to the homely double bedroom, hosting a lovely finish, with ample storage space.

The bathroom next door boasts a bath tub for those well-deserved hot soaks, a hand-held shower and a subtle nautical theme.

Outside you have a little sunny garden, with decking leading across to the patio, hosting a pale blue bistro set - perfect for relaxing with a chilled drink.

Use this as a base to tour all the fine attractions of Cornwall.

Penzance is just a mile away, with winding streets, shops and restaurants.

Discover the South West Coast Path and pay a visit to the enchanting town of Marazion, for water sports and stunning views.

At high tide, colourful boats putter between the bay and St. Michael's Mount or you can follow in pilgrims’ footsteps across the causeway when the water is low.

A romantic retreat to simply get-away-from it-all.

About the location

NEWLYN

Penzance 1 mile.

Nestled next to Penzance, and although still a quaint village in its own right, Newlyn is actually the third largest fishing port in England, and an important Port of Refuge for all sea baring craft. This Cornish village is clustered around the harbour, with its historic 800 year old quay (the Mayflower actually left for America from this quay, not Plymouth) curling around a few small boats on the western side. Famous for the Newlyn school of Art and Newlyn Copper, the Cornwall Coastal Path passes through the village, as does the level Mousehole to Marazion cycle path. An abundance of wildlife and flora can be enjoyed along both, with basking sharks, dolphins and grey seals often seen. The Cornish coast is renowned for surfing, and Penwith offers some splendid beaches on which to enjoy this sport as well as surf fishing for sea bass. Mounts Bay also offers a wealth of opportunity for watersports enthusiasts as well as giving visitors an opportunity to relax and unwind in beautiful surroundings.
