It is very unlikely that you will find a space on the very tight windy roads near to the cottage. There is a car park very close to the cottage you can pay hourly or it's £5.80 per day, but if you go out in your car during that day you will be unlikely to find a free space when you return. You can also pay for a week which is just over £40 but this again does not guarantee you a space. Newlyn is a fantastic fishing port, fantastic fresh fish shops, very friendly locals & fantastic Restaurants & Pubs. The Red Lion pub which is approx 3 mins walk from the cottage has breathtaking views of the busy Harbour, great beer garden & fab food and a good team spirit.

The property

Star of the Sea is a charming, traditional Cornish cottage, situated in the quaint seaside village of Newlyn, with it's tiny winding streets and alleyways. Tucked away at the end of a short cobbled path, the cottage has a bright double bedroom with lovely view of Mounts Bay, Newlyn Lighthouse and St Michael's Mount, so you can watch the sunrise over the bay as you make plans for the day ahead. The comfortable sitting room has a wood burning stove and there is a fitted kitchen with a washing machine and a bathroom, with bath tub.

There is an enclosed courtyard garden to the rear. The cottage is ideal for couples (and their pets) and is a perfect base from which to explore the beautiful South West peninsular and beyond. Most of old Newlyn is pedestrianised, but there is a public car park close to the cottage.

As with most of Cornwall, parking can a problem in Newlyn, so we would suggest buying a Rover Ticket which you can purchase on line. A rover ticket costs £47 per week and can be used in most Cornwall Council owned long stay car parks and can be used whether at the cottage, the beach, or for town visits.

About the location

NEWLYN

Penzance 1 mile.

Nestled next to Penzance, and although still a quaint village in its own right, Newlyn is actually the third largest fishing port in England, and an important Port of Refuge for all seafaring craft. This Cornish village is clustered around the harbour, with its historic 800 year old quay (the Mayflower actually left for America from this quay, not Plymouth) curling around a few small boats on the western side. Famous for the Newlyn school of Art and Newlyn Copper, the Cornwall Coastal Path passes through the village, as does the level Mousehole to Marazion cycle path. An abundance of wildlife and flora can be enjoyed along both, with basking sharks, dolphins and grey seals often seen. The Cornish coast is renowned for surfing, and Penwith offers some splendid beaches on which to enjoy this sport as well as surf fishing for sea bass. Mounts Bay also offers a wealth of opportunity for watersports enthusiasts as well as giving visitors an opportunity to relax and unwind in beautiful surroundings.
