  • "We had a lovely stay."

Meadow cottage was well maintained with everything we could wish for ( except perhaps an extra tea towel as there was no dishwasher). Golant is a small village with an interesting history and welcoming locals. The Fisherman's Arms is still a proper pub with great local ales and friendly bar staff. Fantastic area for walks, easy drives to all the local attractions - eg Eden Project, Lost Garden of Heligan etc. There is also a good bus service to and from Fowey after a 3/4 mile walk to the bus stop.

  • "A beautiful cottage, set in a picturesque location!"

Our dog loved the meadow just outside the front gate. We holiday in Cornwall every year, the first year with our dog, and we couldn’t have chosen a better place to stay. Plenty of room for 4 adults and an 8yr old! Terry and Sarah Jayne were both friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend and have already told friends about Meadow Cottage!

  • "Two weeks of bliss with our two border collies."

Ideally located property in beautiful surroundings. Accommodation is spacious and has everything you need and accommodates all your needs. The views are great as the living accommodation is upstairs and benefits from the main bedroom downstairs as cooler with the lovely hot weather. Bed was really comfy. Great shower and bath to soak your muscles from walking. Additional separate toilet from main bathroom is ideal. Loved walking in the meadow opposite the enclosed garden and seating area. 10 minute walk to the estuary and the Fisherman's arms so great to have a meal and a pint without using the car. Fowey short drive away for lovely for places to eat, quirky shops and views. Terry and Sarah Jayne great hosts as well as mum (thanks for the mop bucket as bit of a clean freak) The only thing I can say to improve the experience would be an upgrade to the corner leather settee but functional. We would definitely stay again as so peaceful.

So clean and comfortable. Peace and quiet. The dogs were well catered for as well. The owners were lovely and friendly and were there when we arrived and left and were honestly the loveliest people. Their dogs were gorgeous!! Golant has a lovely pub with outstanding food and the walks around there are lovely. We used the cottage as a base and visited Fowey as well. Will definitely be back here to stay.

It provided many walks and beaches close by. Some walks you can do from the cottage. The massive field opposite was a bonus for our young dogs with stunning views. Would definitely recommend the cottage!

Our dog Nellie had a wonderful time. The perfect central location either for long walks or a drive out. Owners Sarah and Terry both welcoming and friendly the information provided on places to see and or eateries was greatly used throughout our stay . A must visit, we will certainly be back.

  • "The house was spacious and spotless and very peaceful."

Nice views and excellent for dog owners. Our only downside was lack of instructions I.e. our power went off briefly and we had no idea where the fuse box was and it was still dark. Fortunately we had a torch on us. Also, the light in the shower was not working which can be a problem if your eyesight is not good as the rest of the lighting in the bathroom is not really bright. Having said that our bed was very comfortable and we had a nice time and would recommend.

  • "We enjoyed a fabulous week at Meadow Cottage."

The cleanliness on arrival was superb, the detailed information sent out by Terry and Sarah-Jayne before arrival was both useful and accurate and they were also very helpful in organising a couple of things we asked about before arrival. The Kitchen was well equipped, the Lounge / Dining area was spacious, the bedrooms were a good size and had plenty of storage space and the bathroom / shower all worked perfectly with very hot water! The private outside garden was lovely, but the meadow outside the back gate added to both the view and exercise space for the dog who enjoyed sniffing out the local wildlife, mainly rabbits. Ideally placed to get out and about, we really enjoyed our stay and will hopefully visit again in the future.

The whole family enjoyed it. Plenty to do in the local area. The property was comfortable and well equipped and very clean. Comfy beds and we all slept well! The meadow outside is gorgeous and a great space for our dog to run around. The owners were very helpful and made us feel welcome. Very peaceful location but still close to Fowey. We are already planning our next visit! Thank you!

  • "Our two weeks stay at Hybadore was fabulous."

Fantastic location, fantastic accommodation. Just outside our converted barn we had a private garden which was a real suntrap. Our dog loved that garden, but not as much as she loved the meadow immediately outside the garden gate. There are a couple of benches supplied in the field and we used them to admire the spectacular sunsets, with a glass or two of vino. Inside the house the kitchen is very well equipped and finished nicely. In the living room there is a huge and comfortable L shaped settee, which is essential if your trying to relax after lots of dog walking and swimming! Everything was spotless and very well presented. The owners of Hybadore, Terry and Sarah-Jayne, are extremely welcoming, seemingly always willing to stop and chat and a real source of local knowledge. There is a local pub down the hill in Golant village, The Fishermans Arms, which is a great spot for a few beers a good food. The hike back up the hill didn’t feel too bad after that! Hybadore is a great base to explore all that Cornwall offers. Definitely a 10 out of 10!

The cottage (a converted barn) has an upside down layout, with two bedrooms and bathroom and separate toilet on the ground floor, and another twin bedroom on the first floor along with a very spacious sittingroom/dinning area and a good sized kitchen. The spacious accommodation suited us very well, lots of space to sit and chat. All the necessary equipment was available, and the beds were very comfy. We really liked the cottage and we also greatly enjoyed having a large meadow of uncut grass just outside our private garden - my dog and l loved walking round the meadow and enjoying the peace and quiet. There is a handy pub in Golant, but note that it is a steep walk back up the hill to the cottage! Overall, a great place to stay and the owners were very friendly and helpful.

  • "Meadow cottage was absolutely lovely."

Three spacious bedrooms so plenty of room for us and our three children. The sitting area was also quite big with a dining table and nice kitchen. What made it though is the enormous field right outside the cottage which was ours to run and play in. My boys absolutely loved it. Fantastic!! We visited lots of places, the lost gardens of heligan, Charlestown, trelissick and landhydrock (national trust properties). Godrevy beach and seeing the seals at mutton cove is a must. Nowhere more than an hour away from this cottage. Would highly recommend!!

  • "Cottage was very clean, and the setting with the meadow opposite was lovely."

The bedrooms were very nice, the upstairs area was quite basic but functional. We had a few minor issues which Terry and Sarah sorted immediately which was great. My only grumble is that the cottage is advertised as having an enclosed garden, and in fact it had post and rail fencing and a big gap under the gate which meant that our dogs could just get straight through. We did have a nice time but we would not have booked it if we'd known as its hard to relax when you have to keep an eye on the dogs all the time. In future I would definitely check this with any owners before booking. Other than that though it was a nice place to stay.

The cottage was lovely, the setting was beautiful and peaceful. Good parking facilities. Easy access to all the places we wanted to visit. Sarah-Jane and Terry were very welcoming and friendly and were happy to answer any questions we had about the cottage and places to visit. The cottage was clean and spacious. Our party was 4 adults and 2 dogs and there was plenty of room. There is a good sized garden with chairs and table and the use of the meadow beyond was lovely for an early morning or evening stroll with the dogs. There was a welcoming couple of bottles of Fowey cider. And a lovely touch was the jar of dog treats and a tag for a dog’s collar giving the name and phone number of the cottages. We had a wonderful 2 weeks. Thank you Sarah-Jane and Terry. We will be back.

The property

One of the two Hybadore holiday cottages, Meadow cottage is a cleverly converted period stone barn in the charming and picturesque riverside village of Golant just 3 miles from the famous bustling yachting town of Fowey in this stunningly beautiful area of Cornwall.

With a large enclosed garden complete with furniture and loungers and surrounded by many acres of private meadows to enjoy and picnic this really is the place for a relaxing holiday whatever time of year.

Set over two floors, two of the bedrooms are on the ground floor along with the family bathroom and separate cloakroom.

On the first floor is the third bedroom as well as the kitchen and the magnificent large living room with it's high apex beamed ceiling and comfortable sitting and dining areas.

With many walks both through peaceful woodlands and of course the famous riverside walks as well as being so close to the Saints Way, the trail which links Fowey on the south coast to Padstow on the north, walkers are spoilt for choice here.

For the more adventurous and for the best way to see the river and experience the amazing wildlife why not book a canoe or kayak trip from the village itself.

Also in Golant the Fishermans Arms offers locally produced food and ales to enjoy whilst watching the boats go by.

A wonderful cottage in a stunning location to be enjoyed all year round.
