  • "The cottage was ideal for us and really good for our dog."

The floors downstairs were attractively tiled so no worries about a muddy paw prints on carpets. Our dog loved the big hay field outside with mowed walkways for her to run round. Terry and Sarah-Jayne who ran the holiday cottages were very friendly and helpful. Will definitely come again.

  • "The cottage is in a great location and ideal for dog owners as the garden is secure with the bonus of an attached meadow."

The cottage is spacious with a good usable layout. The single beds in bedroom two are uncomfortable and need updating. The bed in bedroom one is ok. The bathroom is adequate, however the shower leaks into the living room which needs cleaning up after use. The owner was very welcoming on arrival and left us alone for our stay. I would book this accommodation again.

  • "What a wonderful cottage; well presented, with beams and slate flint walls."

Bed was comfortable, kitchen well appointed and included a washing machine but no dishwasher; downstairs loo was fine, and the upstairs bathroom was well appointed with shower but no bath. Main bedroom cupboard had a rather distressing smell, with a few dead bugs. Wonderful fenced off garden, not even our ace-escape artist dogs could find a way out. Property faces onto a large meadow, ideal for the dogs; the rear of the property faces into what was once a farm yard; longish driveway and plenty of parking space. A couple of little niggles: TV is far too small, the floors were sticky (everywhere else was sparkly clean). The ten minute walk down the local pub is indeed ten minutes down a very steep hill; the one hour plus slow walk up, with multiple stops is challenging - especially when full of fish and chips :) Overall highly recommended accomodation in a beautiful part of the country!

Nothing left for the wood burner. Very dark in living room. No instructions of what to do with the rubbish.

Thank you for your feedback, we greatly appreciate all feedback we receive. We do not offer a welcome pack currently however we do provide some tea, milk, sugar, toilet roll and some basic cleaning products for your stay. Currently, we do not provide any wood for the wood burner during the summer months however we are happy to provide any wood needed on request. • "Fantastic stay at the Old Winery Cottage in Golant."

We loved the size of the cottage, the large garden which attracted many butterflies, and our cocker spaniel loved the meadow. Very well equipped cottage with all the essentials. The Fisherman Arms is a short away down the hill, and the fish there is exceptional, as are the views of the River Fowey. We would definitely recommend this cottage and area of outstanding natural beauty.

Lovely place, comfortable (and a fantastic shower!), clean, ideally placed for anywhere you want to go and a wonderfully secure garden for the dogs, alongside the field opposite the garden gate, which the dogs loved. We had the pleasure of meeting Sarah-Jane whilst we were there this time and she was lovely and gave us plenty of tips on where to go locally. Mt friend and I look forward to returning many more times in the future.

The cottage has everything you need for your stay, good spacious, clean accommodation with a good shower and comfortable bed. It is perfect for bringing your dogs. The location is great with Golant being a lovely village with a great friendly pub that serves good food and has a lovely view of the river. Par beach is close by and it is very easy to visit surrounding areas from this location. Our second time here and we will definitely be back!

Very clean, comfortable and has everything you could need. The garden is secure for the dogs and the field opposite the gate, with lovely views, was very welcome for a quick morning walk with the dogs before heading out for the day. Lounge was comfortable and the recliner sofas very welcome after a long day of walking! Internet access is intermittent, sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't, but this was no great shame to 'switch off' off for a while and a quick stroll up the garden path ensured mobile data could connect if needed. Overall, a great place for exploring - never more than an hour away from all the places we wanted to go. Loved it so much we have already booked to go back in June!

The hosts were really prompt in responding to our queries. The cottage was very cosy, clean and was well stocked. Sadly they could do nothing about the awful weather but that made it even more pleasurable having such a cosy retreat to return to after a day out. We would definitely stay again! Thank you.

Generally clean apart from a ball of hair behind door in double bedroom. Damp, musty smell near wooden dresser in lounge area which made sitting on the sofa nearby quite unpleasant. We had problems finding the refuse bags we were supposed to put the bedding and towels in so apologies to owners. Perhaps they, along with the recycling bags could have been left out as recycling instructions also unclear. Good pub recommendations so thanks.

  • "Another happy stay at a Sykes Holiday cottage."

It was very well located and ticked all the boxes. A couple of comments about the property. We couldn't get the TV to work (Mum happy about this - the rest of the family less so); the odd light bulb missing in the standing lamps and very creaky bed in twin room (the one nearest the door) and some pretty creaky pipes in the small hours. Otherwise it was well equipped and had everything we needed. A lovely part of Cornwall. Thank you to the owners and to Sykes Cottages.

We had lots of space for our family, a big sitting room with a wood burner and lazy boy sofas which our kids loved. Upstairs there were good sized bedrooms with comfortable beds and lots of storage. Outside there was ample parking for our very large family car and great gardens. The location was absolutely great. Golant is a hidden gem which is very close to beautiful Fowey. We will definitely be back for a summer break with our wider family (there is another house right next door that can also be rented) and our kayaks and paddle boards.

The cottage was a lovely size and extremely quiet and relaxing. It was a fair jaunt to the local pub/restaurant and along unlit roads or paths so you either drive or stay in, which we enjoyed as we entertained ourselves. There was wi-fi although it proved unable to cope at times and there was no mobile signal - ok if you want to get away from it all. The owners were on site and extremely friendly and helpful. There were some lovely walks in the area and a good area in front of the cottage for walking the dogs. We came away after the holiday extremely relaxed and had some great sleeping due to it being so quiet and no light pollution.
