  • "Great stay (we have stayed here several times), location amazing and really comfortable with great furnishings."

The changes of 2 bedrooms to single rooms were very welcome and well decorated. We were given alternative parking space further up the lane (due to works on a nearby property) which was far easier than outside the house- can this be available next time?! Only one issue, there did seem to be alot of woodlice throughout but particularly in one bedroom which was a bit off-putting.

So nice to welcome you back and pleased you liked the changes we have made. We are hoping to have the alterative parking available in future. So sorry about the woodlice an ever ending battle in Trebarwith, we will be upping the eradication program. Property Owner

The cottage was very comfortable and homely, with everything we required just as in the details. Little Ruffo offers a very welcoming , dog friendly holiday retreat. We look forward to staying again.

upstairs small but downstairs great. Shower downstairs is brilliant, large, plenty of hot water and very powerful. Patio a wonderful place to sit with idyllic views.

  • "We were very impressed."

The location was amazing and the house beautifully laid out and comfortable. We felt very much at home and everything worked..a treat, thank you. We will return, without a doubt, if allowed. Parking worked well, we have a VW Tiguan and the steps did not present a challenge. Local Spa in Tintangel - convenient, but we went well equipped. Bus service interesting (25 min walk to bus stop) !! but with patience and fortitude it took us to where we needed to go. Birds, sea, breeze and great local beer - amazing. Thank you.

Thank you for taking the time to give such lovely feedback. We are glad you enjoyed Little Ruffo and Trebarwith Strand as much as we do. It will be a pleasure to welcome you back. Dawn and Ian Property Owner

  • "The great things about this property are the stunning view of Trebarwith Strand and the shower."

However, it is very small and there are a few things that need addressing. You can't park a car in the parking space without blocking the road to other traffic, so use the car park or the main road. The steps up to the cottage are very steep, as is the internal spiral staircase and both only fit for the able bodied in my opinion. There was a strong smell of disinfectant when we entered the cottage which was re-assuring, however we found copious quantities of woodlice (dead and alive) in most rooms, particularly in the upstairs bathroom, the kitchen (including inside the cupboards) and one of the bedrooms. There's no-where for dogs to do their business except on the patio outside and the fence around it is only around 2 ft high with a steep grass bank below it. One of our cocker spaniels immediately jumped over it and ran back to the car whilst we were unloading. Upon climbing the spiral staircase for the first time, one of the rubber treads fell off and by the end of our week, another had almost worked its way loose. In summary, the maintenance and insect problems can be sorted but it's not really big enough for 6 people plus dogs.

  • "Firstly the negatives, but there weren't many - the washing machine & tumble dryer were way to small, especially if 8 people were to stay, we had 5 people & 3 dogs and we had to wash & dry constantly."

There wasn't enough storage space for 5 of us. The positives - the view is incredible & the location could hardly have been any better, I went to wash up before dinner on our first night as I've found many places don't clean properly but everything was immaculate - cutlery, plates, dishes, everything. The whole house was cleaned very well, floors clean, no dust, bedding perfectly clean & comfy beds, bathrooms clean, very good. Just for information for anyone who visits, we had no phone reception & you can't get it for a few miles. There are steep steps leading up to the property, but this is advertised. The car parking space is fine for a medium size car, we parked for free about 30 seconds up the road on the other side from the large car park. Overall one of the best places I've stayed & I am planning a return stay, very comfy, has everything you need & the location, walks, beach just add to how enjoyable a stay you will have

Thank you for your positive review, we intend on making a few changes this winter in the upstairs bedrooms which should should provide more storage Property Owner

  • "This is a lovely place but not suitable for dogs or humans who aren't very strong on their feet."

The cottage is accessed from steep steps and the nearby walks involve some steep climbs. I also had a problem as I have a large car and the parking bay wasn't suitable. There is however parking at the top of the lane which solved the problem. The pub wasn't serving food and there is no where there to buy any so go prepared!

Thank you for your review, I am so pleased you thought Little Ruffo was a lovely place. Trebarwith Strand and the surrounding area is very hilly and steep; And parking spaces are tight. I do hope you managed to try one of the many eateries in the area during your stay Ian and Dawn. Property Owner

  • "We've had a lovely week in Little Ruffo."

The highlight for us was without a doubt the view of the beautiful sea and the location so close to the beach. The outside patio is a lovely spot to BBQ and the house had all the basics you need for a holiday. The bunk beds are definitely more appropriate for kids but we loved the sea view from the main bedroom. The house is small but absorbed our family of five plus dog happily

  • "What a beautiful accommodating property with breathtaking views."

Everything you would need is there, one of the most relaxing holidays we have had. The outside seating was super and comfy and there was more chairs in the shed if needed. Double beds were comfy but the bunk beds were more suitable for children then adults. A small stroll to the Port William that had great food and views, and some fantastic trails for walks. Great location! Would highly recommend.

  • "We really enjoyed our stay at Little Ruffo, it was a good size for four adults."

The location is great with spectacular views and very close to some great walking on the South West Coast Path. We had everything we needed (brought our own coffee machine). The downstairs shower was great with excellent water pressure. The only small downsides was that the beds, while very comfortable, are on the small side. Parking also is quite tight and not an obvious parking spot.

  • "Not adequate to accommodate 8 people."

Would be better to change the 2 bunk bed rooms to 2 small singles with some decent furniture and better carper. There is a fantastic view of the sea, again, shame the patio door was so difficult to slide open and that there was nothing left for us to clean the windows to enjoy the view. Compared to other properties in the area, the decor and upstairs carpet could do with updating, everything was as listed but only really adequate. The beds were very comfortable. The water was hot and the heating worked well. The Cottage was In an excellent position. Yes there is everything there for a fairly comfortable stay . The WiFi was OK but was intermittent. The inside walls are all painted white which gives it a clean look but the electric pull cord switches and the cheap paper light shades everywhere, the cracked tiles in the shower room (which show up when wet) the grubby rusty and tired barbecue, the chipped crockery, the wobbly step on the steep stairs, the tiny washing machine and tumble dryer (for 8 people?.) The rather tired bits left in the shed. The complimentary coffee and biscuits which could of been a nice touch but were all out of date and soggy, this added to the air of make do instead of high standards. It was a great week we had a lovely time as there was just the 2 of us and a small dog, the area is so dog friendly. Shame someone was using the lane up by the side of the house as dog pooh alley and not picking it up. we loved the view and the location but overall we were not wowed by the standards within the cottage, felt it was overpriced for the facilities and the sleeping arrangements, needs some TLC for the price. Would grade 3 ticks not 4.

  • "We were a group of 6 adults and 2 children but the sleeping arrangements were only really suited to 4 adults (2 couples) and 4 small children."

We found the lounge area too small for a large group, and preparing and cooking food for eight was also difficult. Most of the doors were sticking, with the main bedroom notably more so with having to forcefully open and close it. The second bedroom door wouldn't stay closed. On opening the skylights in the bathroom and one of the bedrooms, there was a shower of dirt and dead insects that had collected around the edge of the frame and ended up in the bath and on the floor. There was litter under one of the beds, hair and fluff in the drawers on arrival and a strong smell of damp in the cleaning cupboard. The location was great, though, and we did enjoy visits to attractions and sights within the area.

  • "The limitations on parking detracted slightly albeit this was detailed so expected."

However for a cottage that does sleep 8 - see later comments - It should look at options to park more than one car adjacent to the house. The sleeps 8 info is a misleading imho as I don’t believe the upper beds in the bunks are viable especially in the yellow room. As we had 2 children this was not a problem for us. However it is in a great location and well appointed and I would happily go there again.

  • "Superb property, with great facilities and home comforts thought about - even with the restrictions of Covid."

The homeward items are great and the washer and separate tumble dryer really is a benefit too. The kitchen appliances are new and really lovely. We have wanted to stay in this property for years and it was such a pleasure. We can’t wait to book a return visit. The location is great however may not suit people with issues climbing stairs. The car parking space is tight if you have an SUV type vehicle too.
