  • "Nice place to stay."

Beds comfortable. Kitchen has everything you need to cook for yourselves. Only criticisms are the sofa has seen better days, the dining table is very wobbly so you can't sit to eat, and the screen in bathroom lets water pour onto floor.

Dear Guest, I am very sorry to hear your stay was less than ideal. I have forwarded your issues onto the housekeeping team who I have to rely on as I am not in the UK. We try to do our best to maintain the lodge in good holiday let condition with extensive renovations this year including a new bathroom and new mattresses on the beds so I'm not sure what the issue was there. The other minor problems will be rectified as soon as possible. Thank you for bringing them to my attention and my apologies again. Sincerely, Yvonne Property Owner

  • "Wi-Fi still appalling."

Fire alarm is over sensitive and literally painfully over-loud. Dining table needs tightening with it's base as it was wobbly. No idea how to get the heated towel rail to work - we never managed it. Oven gloves still not provided. Apart from that - all good.

A little further from Wadebridge than we thought and slight smell in bathroom.

  • "On first glance it looked very clean and tidy."

But then noticed urine under rim of toilet seat, dusty towel rail in bathroom. Single beds have seen better days, now no support and lumpy. Maintenance wise, extraction fan in bathroom not working, fire not working and patio door handle seamed loose. All in all still had a nice time and chalet in a nice quiet spot.

Dear Guest, Thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry about the problems you encountered, I have referred them on to our maintenance and cleaning company. I'm glad you had a nice time anyway, and apologies again. Yvonne , Owner 2 The Beeches Property Owner

The welcome pack was a lovely touch. The only thing was that we couldn't turn the electric fire on, so some instructions would have been helpful. Also some lights up the path, when we came back from being out it was very dark, maybe some small lights.

  • "We stayed at The Beeches a few weeks ago at the end of August, and what can I say, it was absolutely beautiful."

The lodge itself was clean, spacious and had everything what we needed and more. It is situated in a quiet area and all what you could hear in the morning were the birds and the cows, it was just what we needed. We could not fault our stay. Padstow and Newquay are about half an hour away, next supermarket is about 15mins away. We will be definitely back.

  • "Great location both regionally and on-site."

Very quiet. Luckily the lodge next to us had been removed so there was just an area of concrete - otherwise it would have felt quite cramped. Has a good selection of crockery/cutlery/kitchen utensils. Furniture and beds were fine. Nice bath/shower. There is a decent sized area to play ball games on. The only downsides we found were the following: 1. No oven gloves ! not that we could find anyway. 2. Yes there is Wi-Fi but it BARELY works. 3. Get a dishwasher ! People staying for a weeks holiday take their washing home and never use a washing machine. A dishwasher is MUCH more useful. 4. TV is rather small.

  • "The property was great- clean, really well-equipped, and well-presented."

However, we did have a few issues- we couldn't find any oven gloves (apologies if there are some there, and we missed them!), we couldn't find a manual for the washer dryer (issue mentioned in another review), the shower is really powerful, which is great, but the shower screen is quite short, and so after a shower, the floor was often soaking wet, even if we were careful (issue mentioned in another review), and the wifi often struggled (issue mentioned in another review)- we found that the wifi was often better when we were in the car rather than the house! Overall, the house is a lovely base for a holiday, with many places to visit within a short distance, and the site itself is really well-kept and peaceful.

  • "+ The property is within a peaceful static-home park, with other properties not too closely placed, so not overlooked by others much."

The property & bedding was very clean, with an excellent modern kitchen & bathroom, lots of extras (cleaning products etc.) and a generous welcome pack of coffee, tea & bottle of wine. Most of the main attractions of North Cornwall (including Newquay, Bodmin & Tintagel) are within a 15-20 minute drive from the site, so we found it a great base for exploring. - The WiFi was intermittent and often dropped out. Also, despite an engineer calling, the washing machine was not working throughout our visit, which made cleaning beach towels etc. difficult. Annoyingly, the shower-screen moved outwards when using the shower, leading to the bathroom floor being flooded each time. Lastly, no instructions on how to use the TV, cooker etc., which meant trying all of the switches on the walls as none were labelled. Overall, we had a pleasant & enjoyable stay and would highly recommend this property to others who are looking for a quiet, relaxing holiday. We would certainly consider revisiting

  • "I will send a separate email with supporting photos but basically the shower was mouldy and paper separating from the wall by the bath due to leak from shower screen."

A crude attempt to plug this has been made in the past but the problem persists. (photos will be sent with complaint) water all over the floor after ever shower. Disgusting old frying pan and collander (Will send photos) Horrible cheap TV. Half freeview channels missing, no subtitle option with the system and I need those as I'm hard of hearing. Thank goodness for Netflix on our IPAD. Outside the cabin windows are filthy at the tops (Photos taken)and there are cobwebs everywhere. Big issue with spiders as a result. Bit of an issue as we needed to leave windows open due to the weather but couldn't. Information provided in the cabin is a joke, there is a price list from 2014 (photos to follow with complaint) and a list of stuff you can order from a shop that no longer exists. Nothing about local area etc as would normally expect. Also why a washing machine and not dishwasher?... Overall extremely disappointing experience. Wont be bothering again as Sykes need to improve their checking of property before listing it.

I was very sorry to hear that the lodge did not meet expectations. All of the concerns have now been addressed. The bathroom has been completely re-modeled, and the entire lodge re-painted. The kitchen cupboards have been replaced as have the old utensils and much of the bed linen. There is a new smart TV as well. The decking has all been cleaned and re-oiled, and the carpets, furniture and curtains dry cleaned and general spring cleaning done for the start of the new season. Every effort is made by the owners and maintenance team to address any issues as they arise but much of this could not be done while the lodge was booked back to back last year. The lodge used to have a dish washer but when the park management removed the public laundry facilities it was deemed more useful to have a washer/dryer on the premises. Unfortunately there is not enough room for both. Property Owner

My husband has a broken leg and the wheelchair wouldn't move on the gravel. The guy running the site allowed us to pop onto the grass so he just had to hop up the steps luckily. Apart from that it was lovely, a nice welcome pack when we got there. Definitely would go back

. Very well equipped with everything we needed. Welcome pack of tea, coffee, Cornish biscuits and wine was very much appreciated! The only thing we were disappointed with was Wi-fi..and phone signal was quite poor.. The lodge would benefit from updated visitors folder with up to date information and instructions for heating. Also outside lights would be good as we had to use our phone light to find the key safe etc.. This did not in any way spoil our holiday and we would definitely recommend..
