  • "Location absolutely perfect for walks along the coastal path."

Found our own routes as directions given were very confusing! But easy enough to find your way. Tintagel is just lush and Ye Olde Malthouse does the best chips after a walking around the castle !! And lush staff! Kitchen is new and refitted and comfy for 7 adults and 2 teenagers. Beds are comfy and views from the windows are beautiful. The rest of my review is awaiting feedback from Sykes.

  • "Beautiful home in a perfect location."

The pictures do not do it justice. Plenty of space for 10 of us to live comfortably. The children particularly enjoyed the playroom. The outside space is very generous and the views are stunning. Walking distance to tintagel, various different ways to walk so there is an option for everyone! We would definitely stay here again. When we arrived, the property wasn't particularly clean and we have emailed the management company directly about this. It didn't cause us a problem but we felt that this needed to be fedback as the owners obviously pay a company to look after their home. The information on the emails and the book at the property could also do with being updated as they gave conflicting information, specifically about bin days. Again not a huge issue but an easy fix.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this beautiful house to anyone wanting to explore Cornwall, and it's incredibly equipped for young children. A walk away from Tintagel and Trebarwith, and lots to do just a short drive away. Thank you for having us!

The cottage is lovely and has been nicely updated inside. Its set in a lovely area convenient for visiting the beautiful villages and beaches of Cornwall. It’s was very clean. The garden is a great space and the views were amazing from the back bedrooms. We woke to spectacular scenes each morning. The cottage is well equipped for large groups. It is very dog friendly. The front driveway entrance is open if you have a dog that likes to escape! Ours were fine so were able to run around freely in the large garden. The only suggestion I could make is there needs to be lights in the back garden so you can see outside if you are sat outside or walking the dog.

We had a lovely time , coastal walking, running , local beaches when the tide went out about 3pm everyday , exploring the area , farm shops , bought a bag of potatoes from the farmer next to the garden ( Fab) On saying that you have asked for Feedback So here is feedback from everyone ( 10 people) Showers / Baths always had hot water even after everyone showering everyday - Fab Very well equipped kitchen. We followed all the instructions given - put the bins out and recycling out on the saturday morning but couldn’t get them back in due to having to leave the house before they had been emptied. we stripped all the beds but couldn’t find the linen bags ( as on instructions) We used the washing machine but it had such an unpleasant smell for the first few loads - perhaps give it a washing machine clean and live the door open , i did clean around the door sills ( disgusting) Everyone found the beds very uncomfortable. Induction hob was a nightmare to get working but once on very hard to get the power to boil potatoes etc… We have induction hob at home so i think you should ask that someone checks it out . House does need some TLC , updating in areas with some painting , skirting boards thick with dust perhaps move the beds and furniture with next clean ! Just wanted to be honest about our stay to help you with future guests.

The views from the cottage is outstanding. I find it confusing as to why some people are negative in their comments. There was nine of us with two dogs and the cottage was never crowded. I will admit that there are a few areas that need a little TLC but this does not diminish the lovely cottage and it’s comfort.

We all loved this house and again the sea views were just amazing, thank you!!

  • "Fantastic holiday, amazing location and cottage."

The house was well stocked and very clean and tidy. Area is faultless around. If you expect a sea view, don’t, but the sea and coast walk are literally up the path to the left so it’s not a criticism. Only slight complaints, the furniture could do with updating. A bit of money here and there would make the house even nicer, however as dogs are allowed and ours loved it too, btw, I wouldn’t go crazy. Also a larger TV is desperately needed for the large lounge. Finally, the kitchen is great, however, I would take the old pans out, as theses shouldn’t be used on the induction hob so is an accident waiting to happen. This aside, can’t fault the place.

Everything is looking a little tired and in some cases just plain worn out! The house was not ready for us until 4.30pm so we had to wait and then some areas could have been cleaner. We had to be very careful as floors were still wet. The clothes dryer/airer has seen better days and is inadequate for the number of occupants. Despite these points we had an excellent stay in what is generally an excellent house in a great position.

Great location for getting about. Within walking distance of Tintagel along the lane or the coastal path. Close enough to drive up to Bude or down to Padstow. Lovely new kitchen, but should of thrown out all the odd cutlery, plates etc. Not all able to sit in the lounge (10 of us, 6 adults and 4 children) We knew what to expect from reading previous reviews, so were not surprised by the state of the furniture, in particular the bedrooms. Lovely fresh white towels and bed linen. Hopefully, they are on a program of renewing things.

However the house decoration is very tired and needs updating. The furniture in all of the bedrooms doesn’t match and the wardrobe in the main bedroom was falling apart. • "The property itself was lovely, however there are several things that need improvement- The carpets are very dirty."

There is only 1 wardrobe for 5 bedrooms !! and the 1 wardrobe that is there doesn't close properly. Wallpaper peeling of the wall in master bedroom. The window in the master bedroom doesn't fit and when it's windy the noise is unbearable. Also the downpipe on the wall outside of the master bedroom is loose and in windy weather also makes it very noisy when trying to sleep. A lot of the lights do not have bulbs in or do not work. The light in the ensuite bathroom was not working and we had to wait 2 days for the management company to fix it. The furniture is very dated to the extent that all the chest of drawers are broken, the sofas are very uncomfortable and tired. The bed in the master bedroom is 2 singles pushed together with a mattress topper over which is fine however the duvet is 2 single duvets. Why? The garden furniture us all very rusty. The whole property is in desperate need of some TLC and furniture replacement to bring it up to the standard that is charged for the rental. The management company should surely check things like light bulbs and ensure that everything is in working order before each letting. Also there is no controllable heating in the property, it only came on twice each day at pre-set times and temprature and on cold October days was not really acceptable. The tv is of inadequate size the for the size of the lounge. There are no instructions as to how to connect to the Wi-Fi router. It's a shame because the property could be superb if some time and money was spent on it.

Not v clean and bins were overflowing when we turned up! Kitchen dated and kitchen equipment dated and sparse. That is the only negative. If they changed those two things we would love to come back!

Thank you for your comments. We have decided to make the check in time on a Saturday 3pm, in order to allow adequate time for the extra cleaning needed upon changeover. The bins should be put out for collection on a Wednesday night and rubbish segregated as per the instructions in the pack and in the kitchen. Regrettably it sounds like the previous tenants didn't do this. I will ask Flint to make sure this is sorted out. Property Owner

  • "The house is certainly large and can easily accommodate 10 people in its bedrooms and reception rooms/dining room etc, although only two bathrooms is not enough for 10 people."

The garden is also large, but the area around the front door is covered in weeds and generally unkempt – we also had to pick up toys from the garden and the lawn needed mowing. There was a significant smell of wet dog when we first arrived, but we got used to that (and the property did allow dogs so fair enough). We got the impression that the property was a little closer to the sea, when it is in fact two fields away, so whilst the views of the sea are great from upstairs, you are a 5-10 min walk from being on the cliff path. Most of the garden furniture was rusty and you had to be very careful when using it. The BBQ was good and we made an excellent meal on it one night. With the Exception of the showers (clearly recently renovated to a high standard), the rest of the house is tired and needs a good re-decoration – Master bedroom wallpaper is literally peeling off in multiple places, damp patches everywhere, stained cushions on nearly every chair, carpets in need of a good clean, plaster falling off in en suite bathroom, all the windows had wind whistling through them (we had very windy weather for two nights and had to put parcel tape on the bedroom windows on the second night because we couldn’t sleep with loud noise!). The kitchen was well stocked with dishes (although some of it did need dusting!) and cutlery and everything worked, expect the fridge door that did not shut properly without an extra push (like previous visitors, we lost some milk and chicken because it went off due to the door). Unlike previous guest reports, we found the house mostly clean, other than the windows in the conservatory (lovely big room overlooking the garden), which were dirty with previous visitors hand prints all over them and some of the crockery and cutlery needed washing – so this should be picked up by the cleaners each week. The bed configurations were fine, the beds were very comfy and towels provided were lovely and fluffy. The airing cupboard was a disaster zone and we did not hang anything in there to dry. As mentioned by previous visitors, the master bed had two single duvets on it, which is weird and uncomfortable – a little purchase here would solve that. The sets of drawers in all bedrooms were one tug away from falling apart. The en suite had no lock on the door, a broken sink plug and the main light was broken. There was a distinct lack of mirrors Overall, we enjoyed our stay, but were disappointed with the general repair of the house and feel it needs some TLC – it is clear it is the owner’s second home rather than its main purpose being set-up as a holiday let – the upside of this is that it had lots of things (cooking stuff, cutlery, crockery, good beds, books, toys etc) that you might not get in a holiday let, but the downside being is that we didn’t feel like we had been considered as paying visitors looking for a quality holiday cottage experience.

Thank you for this feedback. The property is clearly described and copiously illustrated on the website, including giving accurate timings to walk to the beach so not quite clear as to why it was further from the sea than you imagined. The decor is a matter of personal taste (as you say it is our second home) but again the only changes from the photos on the website are where we have replaced with new in the last 18 months. Re the Master Bedroom and certain other comments, unfortunately COVID-19 put paid to a planned renovation earlier in the year which has now been rescheduled to take place this autumn, (naturally along with a very deep clean). The fridge door was working fine in July when we stayed but we will of course investigate this. Bedroom chests, wardrobes etc were all fully functional in July, again we will check these closely on return to the property. The airing cupboard is not intended for tenant use (and marked as such). The grass is mown on a fortnightly cycle and weeds around front door regularly checked. Property Owner

  • "The cottage location is very good, and the local beach is excellent with clean water, no seaweed, big waves, all sand, very scenic (although there is no beach for a few hours when the tide is in)."

The cottage has a large garden which is great for the children, and the cottage is easily large enough for 10 people, and has good bathroom facilities, although an additional one would be useful for 10 people. Lovely glass conservatory. However, the furniture in general is well past its expiry date, some of the chest of drawers are scarcely useable. Wallpaper is peeling off in the master bedroom. The master bedroom was the only bedroom with a bin in it. The bed in the master bedroom was 2 singles zipped together, with an additional mattress across both of them. That was fine - however, there was then 2 single duvets provided for it, which is just crazy! The downstairs toilet and the ensuite bathroom both had no lock on them. The fridge was too small for 10 people, although there was a very small additional one in the utility room - not enough cold storage. Our milk all went off, I think because the main fridge door didn't close properly - it needed an extra push and I suspect at times it was not fully closed as a result. The guttering dripped noisily onto the glass conservatory roof.

Comments are mostly covered in the response above. We will be providing a double duvet in the Master Bedroom (again this is largely a matter of personal preference which hasn't been raised before this summer), and more bins. Property Owner
