“The aga didn’t work which was a real shame as I wanted to cook with my daughter a b’day cake for my birthday.”

The heating didn’t work at all on arrival which was swiftly rectified the following day, however the heating was on constantly even though it was on timed. We turned off heating completely as the weather was warm but still the heating in the lounge and bathroom upstairs continued to work 24/7. It was like an oven. After 2 days it stopped working again which was a blessing. I suspect the boiler and aga needs looking at. Also there was a bbq but no garden furniture? There were no poo bags ...

There were no poo bags or treats for the dogs as promised. We had a lovely holiday and the location and cottage itself was lovely, just a few things that need sorting would make it a 10/10. All of us commented on how comfy the beds were. I would say that the bunks are not really suitable for adults and it needs to be made clear that the en-suite is to the bunk bed room, which is actually the main bathroom. The bunk bed room has no door and has a curtain to create privacy. You have to enter the bunk bed room to use the main bathroom upstairs, at night this is tricky to not disturb people using this room. The cottage was perfect for the dogs and it was refreshing to be able to let them out in the secure garden.

The property

Tintagel 1 mile.

This wonderful, detached farmhouse cottage is tucked away from the main road leading into Tintagel, positioned at the end of a farm lane with fantastic country views from every window.

Surrounded by a herring-bone dry-stone wall, with exposed interior stone walls, slate floors and a beamed ceiling inside, Trevillick Cottage is bursting with character making it perfect for groups of families and friends exploring the North Cornwall coastline.

The cottage opens into a lovely kitchen, adjoined by a bright, sunny dining area with a table and chairs for four.

Overlooking the neighbour's field, you can often see their horses rolling on the grass for a good back scratch.

The kitchen leads into a large dining room where an AGA sits within an arched stone fireplace, heated year-round so you will always have a warm cosy place to enjoy dinner and discuss the day's adventures.

The cottage wraps round to a sitting room with a woodburning stove and comfy seating for six, as well as a small porch with a seat for one, perfect for a spot of reading, or some quiet time to take in the scenery.

Upstairs there are three bright and spacious bedrooms including a double and twin room.

The third bedroom has bunk beds and a door providing access to a fantastic decked balcony with sea views on clear days.

The bunk room also provides access to the main bathroom where you can enjoy a relaxing soak in a huge freestanding bath.

The window is at the perfect height, allowing you to marvel at the cottage's beautiful setting whilst you unwind after a long walk along the coast.

You will also find a shower room on the ground floor beside the kitchen.

Outside is off road parking for three cars and a lovely garden surrounding a pond with its own resident frogs.

There is a picnic table with a barbecue where you can enjoy dining in the fresh air.

Also take advantage of the patio by the front door with a table and two chairs for those who like taking their morning coffee in the rising sunshine.

Although it feels secluded, Tintagel's bustling high street can be reached in 10 minutes on foot across fields.

The cottage is in a perfect location for walkers, just a short distance from the South West Coastal Path with Tintagel Castle a little further away.

Below the castle, you can also enjoy a trip to Merlin's Cave, full of atmosphere evoking the spirit of the King Arthur legend.

Newquay is less than an hour away, but as the entire North Cornish coastline is peppered with magnificent beaches, you can enjoy swimming, surfing and bodyboarding with ease.

Whatever your plans for your trip to Cornwall, this beautiful cottage is the perfect base to explore for all ages at any time of the year.

About the location

TINTAGEL

Camelford 6 miles; Wadebridge 12 miles.

Tintagel, home of the legendary King Arthur’s Castle, whose ruins dominate the cliffside just outside the village, is a popular but not overcrowded tourist destination. The surrounding area is dominated by the sea, rocky coves and stunning scenery. Several beaches, including nearby Trebarwith Strand and Bossiney Cove, are within easy reach and surfing is the main attraction for those who love the water. Tintagel has several pubs and restaurants and the Old Post Office (National Trust) is a must. For the energetic, the SW Coast Path passes through the village and in both directions it winds its way along the cliffs and down to the water’s edge through dramatic countryside. Head north along the path and in 2.5 miles is the beautiful village of Boscastle with its quaint quay and village pubs for refreshment. Further afield are the surfing meccas of Newquay and Bude, with their resort attractions, while the open spaces of Bodmin Moor, the Eden Project, Padstow and the Camel Estuary are all within a 40-minute drive.
