  • "The property was lovely well looked after clean and spacious."

The only issue we had was the oven didn’t work properly. The door doesn’t shut and it took ages to heat up. As we only used it the first night and ate out the rest of the time it didn’t cause us a problem.

  • "The cottage is great, every kitchen accessory that you would need and more."

My only complaint would be is the bed in the downstairs bedroom (which I assumed was for a disabled person as it has an on suit wet room) is far too high for a disabled person, I had to put my Mum on the sofa bed in the lounge/ kitchen (which was far too low). Other than that we had a great time. One other point, perhaps put signage at the entrance from the lane as was difficult to find.

  • "On arrival whilst unloading the car one of the neighbours came out of their property and told my friend to move the car tighter to the wall when parking."

This was within 5 minutes of our arrival and there was ample space for other cars to get passed. Not a very nice welcome. The disabled bed was too high for our 86 year old lady, we had to buy a set of steps so she could get into the bed. If I was aware of the height of the bed, I would not have booked the property. Overall a lovely property, very good central location with shops, pub etc. in very close proximity.

Also very quiet would recommend this property.

  • "The Barn was a fantastic home away from home."

Parking was a bit of a pain due to us having an estate car and the nearest pub was a bit of a hike with most of it being on the hill down to Camelford. All in all the Barn was a credit to Tim and his cleaning team. Brilliant.

The facilities were excellent and the correspondence for accessing the property was very smooth. It was perfect for us and our boys and was close to a variety of locations to enable us to explore. A perfect week away!

  • "Was disappointed the washing machine was broken."

At first we thought it was just one of those things but having read other reviews now it appears its been an ongoing issue that hasn't been addressed. Also neighbours were quite disrespectful complaining we weren't parked near enough to the wall and then subsequently had their own friends round who parked in front of our gate blocking us from leaving the cottage basically. Also their dog fouled in the courtyard and it wasn't cleaned up. That's no fault of sykes or the owner of our cottage though. Big thumbs up for the numerous books, games, dvds available on arrival. A very good selection, thanks for that. As for basic facilities I saw someone complain about I think this was very unfair on the owners. To grumble there wasn't milk or coffee provided is frankly ridiculous. Why this would be expected I don't know. True essentials were all provided. Our only other negative would be that there needs to be more of a focus on directions to find the cottage. It wasn't easy. On the whole though a very enjoyable break and we would definitely recommend.

  • "Very hard to find in a cul-de-sac off the main road through Tregoodwell a detailed map would have been very helpful, even the residents of this small Hamlet didn’t know where it was."

Picture of property doesn’t show how tight the access is and was made to feel apprehensive about parking and succumbed the unfriendliness of one of the neighbours over our parking two cars even though we had checked with Sykes and owner prior to booking that this was OK. We were also told that there was parking in the side roads, this really isn’t the case, roads too narrow, and was already taken over by locals transit vans and other rental properties. Was disappointed that the cupboards were bare of any essential items ie condiments would have been nice to know in advance, plus more suitable dishes needed to use in microwave. Fridge/Freezer doors didn’t close properly without pushing hard on them. Found double bed creaked hence didn’t sleep well also toilet seat in en-suite lose and doesn’t fit properly plus toilet in wet room rocks. Most of the windows don’t close properly either.

  • "The Barn was a great place to stay."

It was very well equipped and comfortable. I would certainly recommend the Barn to anybody seeking a holiday in that part of Cornwall. The only negative about the Barn was the parking situation. Although we had our own space, it was difficult to manoeuvre ones car in and out due to too many cars parked in a combined space. Apart from that the place was brilliant.

It is comfortable and was spotlessly clean. The outside space is rather limited and parking is a problem if you have more than one car. Watch out for some sweary and intolerant neighbours!

  • "Great cottage, Very pleased with the facilities."

The Camelford town is quite small with only one working pub, the Masons Arms. Quite dated inside but ok. The meals we had were very big. There is a great little cafe that does excellent cream teas and lovely breakfasts opposite a nice park. there's a pharmacy , CoOp and a couple of other stores. It's about 20 mins drive to port Isaac (doc Martin), if you go you must have a fresh crab sandwich at the Old school house restaurant . There is a bus service (10 & 95) that go to the local beaches and beyond. The airfield museum is worth a visit if you like war type stuff 10 mins away. Some of the country lanes are a bit scary if your used to town driving. Definitely worth doing a walk up Roughtor, only about 25 mins to go up to the top and great 360 deg view of the area, Roughtor road is single track road so be ready to pull in to a passing place.

  • "We where really pleased with the barn accommodation, it was spotlessly clean throughout."

We where really impressed with the measures the owner had took to make it safe during these times . Although a lot has had to be taken away we had everything we needed and more. Absolutely beautiful setting, so peaceful but close to lots of lovely places to visit. Camelford has everything you need and less than a ten minute walk. Parking no problem, we have a large car and no issue at all. We can’t recommend this accommodation enough, hopefully we will return soon . Thank you.

It was far larger than the photos depicted, it was very comfortable, all amenities worked well and the owner was always available for any questions. I would highly recommend this cottage, it has been planned/furnished exceedingly well for families in mind and having the downstairs bedroom and wet room as well as having two living rooms is excellent for elderly or disabled members of the family. Absolutely charming and very close to all the shops etc. 10/10

Plenty of space for everyone. Extras we didn’t expect e.g. a cupboard full of children’s games. Comfortable beds. It was helpful having 3 bathrooms. The area is central to beautiful beaches, and also not far to the Camel Trail where we all cycled to Padstow.

The only thing the beds were a little uncomfortable. Also it would have been nice to maybe have some milk, tea bags to be able to make a drink on arrival. It would have also been nice to maybe have a sign to say where the cottage was as it was a little different to find due to location before big set back from road

  • "The Barn was a perfect home to spend the week exploring the beautiful coast line of Cornwall."

Every detail had been thought of and we didn’t want for anything. The beds were comfortable. The bathrooms plentiful and I loved the two different sitting areas which was great if one person wanted solitude. It was a real home from home. The only negative, which would only apply to the few, is that dogs are not allowed. I highly recommend this property and if by some chance you’ve got someone one with a disability the down stairs bathroom is perfect. This is a real gem of a property.

  • "The Barn was very clean, comfortable and well appointed."

Almost everything had been thought of. We left many things in our suitcases as we didn't need them - they were already provided in The Barn. The only thing missing was a full length mirror! It would be a good idea to put one on the end of the landing for all the party to use. The Barn is well situated for visiting many of Cornwall's attractions. We didn't want to leave and would certainly come again and recommend as an excellent base for a lovely holiday!

Not much outside space though. We enjoyed our stay and the only negative was the driveway - we kept catching the front underside of the car when exiting due to the dip. Needs some simple attention to avoid unnecessary stress each time you drive out anywhere.
