  • "Excellent property - extremely well equipped, especially the kitchen."

Safe, enclosed garden; parking for 2 cars; very close to Charlestown and Porthpean which are both very attractive in different ways.

  • "Have just spent a great week staying at Boswynn."

The house was immaculate, spacious and extremely comfortable and nothing was too much trouble for Laura (the owner) when we had queries. We were surprised at how near Charlestown, Fowey, Mevagissey, Truro and Newquay were to the property and had some great days out with relatively little driving involved. If you're looking for a break in this part of Cornwall, you definitely won't be disappointed with a stay at Boswynn !!

    Mrs DunningOct 2021

  • "The property was exceptionally clean."

The only thing that potential clients should know is that the road leading to the cottage is "extremely narrow" being single track and "restricted access." This is not mentioned on the Sykes Site. Apart from that top notch!

Thank you for your comments. We are glad to hear your positive comments on the property. Unfortunately, there is little we can do about the access to the property and this is part of the charm of the West Country. Whilst the lane leading to the property is single track, it is regularly used by a variety of vehicles including supermarket delivery vans, courier companies as well as by local residents. We hope this did not impact on your stay too much. Property Owner

  • "Boswynn was a home from home."

It was spotlessly clean and the owners have thought of everything and more that is needed for a perfect holiday. Would highly recommend.

  • "We had the most amazing stay !"

The house is amazing , clean, comfortable and a real home from home. You have everything u need and the host was excellent and so helpful. We could of easily stayed and when it was awful weather one night and we were all cosy in the living room watching a movie we couldn’t of been more happy than our friends who we’re staying in a caravan ! Can’t recommend enough x

  • "Although there was lovely walking in the countryside, the dog friendly beaches were not easily reachable on foot."

    Mr PageAug 2021

  • "Excellent cottage."

Well appointed and a real 'home from home'.

    Mrs CirkelJul 2021

  • "The holiday home is lovely, very clean and new looking."

The kitchen is well equipped has lots of cupboard space and a lovely big fridge. The master bedroom has tons of storage and a cosy bed. The hosts were friendly bur not intrusive and were helpful to us offering assistance when we had a car breakdown. The garden is lovely, peaceful, pretty with flowers and secure and enclosed so we could let our dog out. The neighbourhood is quiet and the location is great for walks. In next to no time from the cottage you can be on a lovely walk by the river or woodland. The wild flowers on the walks and in the garden are so lovely. A short drive away there is a small free car park, from there you can be on the coastal walk which has stunning views of the coast.

  • "A lovely house in a quiet location."

Within easy reach of the coast and walking distance of the Pentawan Trail which is ideal for dog walking. Laura the owner was very welcoming and it was lovely to have a welcome provision pack. Marla the dog loved the enclosed back garden.

  • "The accommodation exceeded our expectations it was spotlessly clean and had all the mod cons in the kitchen."

The host was warm and friendly she got in contact before the holiday and greeted us on the day. We were left a welcome tray of tea, coffee, biscuits, bread, milk and butter which was a nice gesture. We used the house as a base to travel around Cornwall. My comment below is something for Helpful holidays to take forward and not a reflection on our host. My only complaint would be more towards the information our host was provided from Helpful Holidays on recycling. I am no eco warrier but like to do my bit recycling at home and when went away during the pandemic to Wales last year (booked through Helpful Holidays holidays) recycling was strongly encouraged. In the information pack we received we were advised to "bag up all rubbish - all rubbish of any kind, including items you would normally recycle like glass, cardboard etc. should be placed in tied black bin bags" - Please place all rubbish in the bin provided, please put tied up rubbish sacks in the large refuse bins in the outside lean to at the rear of the garage. At the moment all rubbish of any kind should be placed in tied up black bin bags, even item you would normally recycle. We checked with the host and was told there is no food or other recycling and to put everything in the black bin as advised in the information pack as this is what she was told to do by Helpful Holidays. Bin day was on the day we left and we saw that other households had plastic recycling etc outside their homes so I could not understand why there was no recycling for the property we stayed in Covid or not. We did drive around a few of the supermarkets to see if we could dispose of our recycling but ended up taking it home with us which was not ideal but I could not have it going to a landfill. Visitors should be encouraged to recycle the same way as the district they are visiting so why is the information Helpful Holidays Holidays give is different to the advice from Helpful Holidays. (sad face)!

Thank-you for your feedback regarding the refuse/recycling arrangements at Boswynn.  Firstly we apologise for the inconvenience and frustration this has clearly caused you. Whilst we ask our guests to bag up all their rubbish in tied black bin bags, we now use a waste contractor that collects, then sorts, all of the waste at their local recycling facility, 0% of which goes to landfill.  Any waste/rubbish from self-catering holiday accommodation is classified as commercial waste.  The local council has made it clear that self-catering holiday accommodation is not permitted to use the household/kerbside collection that you saw local residents using on the day you left; this is for domestic residents only.  Since your feedback we have amended our information pack to explain this more clearly to future guests.  We apologise for not explaining this to you before/during your stay. Due to Covid-19 we are specific in our information pack about guests tying up and moving all their rubbish from inside the property into the outside bins provided.  This is because we want to protect ourselves as much as possible during the changeover process, by not having to directly touch and sort someone else's rubbish.  We hope this explains why our instructions regarding rubbish are so explicit at the moment, we will of course keep them under review. • "The property was like a home from home, everything we could have wished for was catered for and much more."

The property was spotlessly clean and there was a nice arrival pack when we got there with all the essential food items that we required. This is a very dog friendly property, the rear garden is of a good size and perfectly secure so that your dog is safe at all times. The property was Covid safe, there was hand sanitizer at the front door and in the property. There are signs telling you what to do in the case of falling ill. The location of the property is good for many days out in Cornwall with many just a short drive away. The owners live next door but they are not intrusive in any way but are on hand if any concerns arise. We would certainly recommend this property and hope to return again, it went a very long way to an enjoyable holiday.

  • "Really enjoyed our stay at Boswynn, the little extras were much appreciated."

Could it fault anything, cleanliness and comfort were 100%. Thank you for a lovely holiday. Will book again very soon.

    Mr MuttittAug 2020

  • "What a wonderful and magical place."

The location is perfect for our favourite Cornish destinations like the Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan and of course the famous beaches. As others have already noted the property is fabulously clean, well appointed with everything you could ever need and very tastefully furnished and decorated. The garden is a lovely place to relax and the hosts were kind, considerate and helpful. All these things contributed to a holiday we will remember for many years.

    Mr HirstAug 2020

  • "Having been to this property before we knew that it would be presented to a very high standard and we were not disappointed."

The requirements to address hygiene needs around COVID were met very well with plenty of cleaning products and hand gel provided. We were informed beforehand of the new measures and changes which was very helpful. Thank you.

    Mrs FleetJul 2020

  • "The house couldn’t have been any better!"

It just kept giving! Fantastically furnished and finished to a high standard. Beautiful bedding and towels. Plenty of dishes, glasses, pots and pans. Welcome milk, bread, butter etc which was really helpful. Cleaner than clean and everything we needed for a perfectly comfortable stay. Would we visit again....absolutely, we can’t wait!

  • "Beautifully presented property, finished and equipped to a high standard."

Spotlessly clean and well equipped with plenty of everything so we could fill the dishwasher instead of having to wash up after every meal or drink. There is plenty of room for five adults to stay here comfortably. The welcome goodies were generous and enjoyed by all, including the dogs who had their own jar of biscuits. It was good to meet the owner, Laura, when we arrived and to be shown around by her. She is to hand if needed, but was at pains to say she would not disturb us otherwise. The garden is safe and secure for dogs and the access via the back door is good for muddy paws. The community fields are within a few metres of the property and a lovely place to walk, with access to longer walks from them if desired. Our two border collies really enjoyed themselves here. The property is in a good location to access Mevagissey, Charlestown or St Austell and beyond, without being too far off the beaten track. There is parking for two cars end on. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and were very comfortable at Boswynn. We would certainly return if we can.

  • "Beautifully decorated, cosy property."

The owner had great communication and was very welcoming. As we arrived quite late on a Sunday, we were pleasantly surprised to find the fridge stocked with milk, butter and bread with a nice selection of tea and fresh coffee available. Although this was a business trip, this property felt like a home away from home!!!

    Mr NichollsNov 2019

  • "We stayed at this property the first week of November 2019."

The standard of this property is just superb, probably the best we have stayed in. Everything is very well thought out with us not wanting for anything. The welcome pack was excellent. The only comment I would make here (and this is really nit picking) is the fact that there is not heating in the downstairs toilet, and we found that in November it’s a pretty chilly experience. Apart from that, congratulations to the owners on their high standards.

    Mr BartlettNov 2019

  • "The house was delightful."

Extremely comfortable , it had every thing we required. The owners next door we extremely helpful, we only had one query . We had a super time , excellent.

    Rev SibleyOct 2019

  • "Lovely clean and tidy cottage, extremely dog friendly and having every facility you could wish for."

Central heating worked very well. Field adjacent to walk the dog. Owner very friendly and helpful.

    Mrs HellabySep 2019

  • "Boswynn was a lovely place to stay, with a beautifully attended garden and meadow behind."

It was perfectly located for all local places to visit from Mevagissey, Charlestown, Fowey to St Austell on the doorstep. The property was spotlessly clean and all things had been considered for a very comfortable stay. The goodies provided allowed us all to settle in without worrying about food essentials. We would highly recommend Boswynn as a home from home place to stay.

    Miss BloomerJul 2019

  • "We booked Boswynn last minute, we were absolutely over the moon with it, the owners met us at the property and quickly showed us around."

There was a lovely welcome tray with tea coffee and biscuits on it, along with a jar of treats for our dog. The enclosed back garden is an added bonus and meant that we could have the patio doors open for the dog to come and go as she pleased. Both the house and garden are kept beautifully, we couldn’t fault it and will definitely be back.

    Mrs WinterJul 2019

  • "Laura and Alan have opened their holiday home spectacularly."

The location is perfect, so convenient for the many attractions in and around St Austell yet tucked away in a delightfully secluded little hamlet. An added bonus was the communally owned meadows for dog walking. Wonderful as they were so close by. Their welcome was lovely, with help unloading and a selection of goodies to make us feel at home! Their attention to detail, gorgeous garden and plant collection, and helpfulness throughout our stay, was second to none. What a privilege to be first to write in their guest book, and what a find! About the location

Charlestown 2 miles; Carlyon Bay 3 miles; Mevagissey 6 miles; Fowey 8 miles.

The old market town of St Austell, just a mile or two from the south coast, is famous as the historic centre of the china clay mining industry. Today, its many beaches and its sub-tropical gardens provide plenty to see and do. The wonderful Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Eden Project are perfect for a family day out, and a little further afield Caerhays Castle provides a stunning backdrop to Porthluny Cove. On the edge of town, St Austell Brewery offers tours of the Victorian brewing equipment and a chance to sample the local beer, and for those looking for surf and sand, St Austell Bay has several beaches to choose from - Porthpean, Carlyon Bay, Pentewan, Polkerris - the last offering a variety of water-sports. As well as a small shingle beach, Charlestown, a pretty, historic port, often has wooden sailing ships in the harbour, and is popular as a film location. A little further afield are Fowey and its beautiful estuary to the east and the fishing port of Mevagissey to the west. With lots to do and something to keep the whole family entertained, St Austell is a great year-round destination.
