  • "A lovely clean, well appointed holiday accommodation."

Only saw the beach once, Spring tides or bad timing?

  • "It was really lovely, the loft is a great little space and perfect for our needs."

The only things that lacked was kitchen equipment, no oven dishes only roasting trays ( I wanted to make a pie and had nothing to make it in!) also the fridge is too small for shopping for a week, seems the space next to it is wasted for outdoor cushions instead of a bigger fridge. Also a king size bed would be much more preferred, with perhaps tall thin wardrobes either size instead of the draws. I doubt many people have a double these days! This said, the bedding was lovely. The cleanliness was fantastic, absolutely spotless. Location perfect, parking handy, all in all very good. We will be back if we be new owners decide to use as a holiday let.

Lovely clean loft, great size lounge kitchen diner, bed was really comfy, great bathroom with walk in shower, just the right size for 2 and 2 dogs, enjoyed the closeness of the beach and the pub, have been to Trebathwith strand many times and always wanted to stay here, and it didn’t disappoint , would love to go back

Mermaid Loft is a delightful place to stay, the Sykes details are accurate and the property is cleverly thought out and laid out, everything we needed was there, absolutely loved it

  • "This was the least dog friendly property I have ever stayed in and I really didn't appreciate arriving to a list of rules and threats for extra cleaning charges if my dog made a mess having had to pay a supplement for my dog."

The lovely patio was fine if you don't mind sitting next to a rubbish bin and the sea view was only possible if you stuck your head out of the bedroom window. One of the windows was broken and couldn't be opened, the bathroom sink didn't drain properly and there was no kitchen bin. Overall a nice property but not for dog owners.

  • "The only real Downside is that the lovely pub that is shown on the holiday info relating to the cottage, did not serve breakfasts to any no pub residents (despite the sign saying they did."

There was a issue on the one evening where we went to the pub to have a drink on the patio watching the sunset whereby the pub had decided not to serve anyone who was a non pub resident. Put a real downer on the break. The accommodation was very clean, comfortable and the welcome pack was much appreciated. The TV gave us a number of issues as there were repetitions of channels resulting in limited viewing. Overall, a lovely place in a great location.

  • "The open living space is well thought out and has a relaxing vibe with a spacious feel to it."

The bed was comfortable and with the bedroom window open we went to sleep and woke up to the sound of the sea. A very clean apartment with a well stocked kitchen and some welcome goodies provided. The shower was good with a roomy cubicle - would thoroughly recommend to anyone who doesn't have an issue with the steep staircase to access the property. Overall Mermaid Loft suited our needs better than we expected and we would definitely stay there again....

  • "We loved the accommodation; perfect little place for 2 people and a dog, lovely facilities - nice open plan living space and bathroom, bedroom had everything we needed."

Its worth noting that the location is quite remote; there are two pubs within walking distance and both of these require pre booking for food; the Port William has excellent views (get there before sunset for the most stunning scenes), and the Millhouse Inn is a 10 minute walk back from the sea. One thing which we would recommend, if the weather is dry, is to take some picnic food or a disposable BBQ perhaps, as the rocks by the sea are nice to sit on - quite a few people brought disposable BBQ's down (and i'm glad to say they all cleared up after themselves). Your customer services team were great; information was provided about how to access the key safe to get in to the property and when I requested to add a dog to our booking your team quickly approved this which was brilliant. The directions you list to get to the property (The mermaid loft) are incorrect though - you turn off the B3263 towards Trebarwith Strand and then follow the road strait all the way until you see a sign which says "restricted road" and "the Port William" - the road forks here and you need to take the left fork in the road - the property is about 100 meters up the hill on the right with a car parking space outside. Your directions are a little bit crazy - from memory you advise of a right turn from a roundabout, then left, right, left right. We got so lost, it took us an hour and we managed to find it on foot in the end.

  • "Dishwasher and washing machine didn't work."

In the end I worked out this was due to the isolation valve on the wall below the sink being turned off. This could have been a major problem. There was no mention of the valve in the flat's manual. I needed to examine all the appliance manuals for an hour to finally work out what was wrong

  • "Easy booking process with Sykes, directions to the cottage was a series of lefts and rights in the pack, it is simply on the approach road to the Port William pub where the road forks left at the Harbour."

The cottage is in a great location in the village 30 seconds from the beach and a good pub equally close. It is right on the coastal path which was key for us. The cottage itself is ideal for 2 and a dog especially if using as a base as it is relatively small but in a cosy way. The bed comfortable and the kitchen quite well equipped but bring your own cooking oil/foil etc. Switching on the shower was unique but helpful instructions and fine once you the get knack. Nice private outdoor space I’d imagine would be useful place for getting out of a wetsuit in the spring/summer, but the stairs down to it are slippery when it rains. Quirky, clean and ideal for what we wanted at a reasonable price.

  • "The cottage was clean and tidy but quite small, being a loft you have to be careful when standing upright on one side of the property."

Not set up as well for dogs as other Sykes properties we have stayed in. Nonetheless a stunning location, and we had an enjoyable weeks stay.

  • "The apartment was very good, well described and everything we hoped for."

The organisation of Sykes Cottage s was less than perfect. We had a genuine reason to hold back on our booking due to s serious crisis which had arisen between booking and making our settlement. The staff did not either listen to our query, or act upon it. The cottage owner attempted to intervene, but the settlement was taken out of our account regardless.
