  • "This Chalet at Whitsand Bay was fabulous."

Lovely welcome with the huge bunch of flowers and cream tea. The view was absolutely stunning. It was very well equipped with every comfort thought of and very cleverly designed. Upstairs shower was really powerful (don’t know about the other one). The situation was perfect and very private. A total “getaway” and true escapism. We have stayed at 3 other chalets on Tregonhawke Cliff and this has definitely been the best. Usually we would never go anywhere twice but Glenavon would be our exception. The other comments about the path and steps down are accurate. You need to be physically able and to pack light and then it’s fine. We can’t recommend it highly enough. Exceptional!

Dear Sue and family, Thanks very much for the wonderful feedback . I'm pleased to hear that you've tried other chalets and think Glenavon is the best! Nice to know you had a good holiday. Best wishes, Graham Property Owner

Once again amazing weather & the beach was almost just for us every day ! An amazing place to relax & enjoy the most stunning coastline. We walked for miles ! Just listening to the sea whilst laying in bed is just magical. 100% perfect.

  • "The chalet is fantastic, there really are no words to describe how amazing the view is, its just breathtaking."

The chalet itself is wonderful, everything you need for your stay is provided. The owner is local and quickly responded to a small issue we had during our stay. The access to the chalet is down a steep rocky path and then quite a few steps. If you have any access issues then this is not the place for you. Pack lightly! We loved our stay here and will definitely be back.

The cottage is in a fantastic location. The weather was incredible. We went to the beach everyday & had it nearly all to ourselves. We have booked a return visit & can’t wait to be back.

Amazingly equipped and spotlessly clean as well as being in the most idyllic setting. And there is the added bonus of it being a great workout going up and down to the beautiful beach several times a day ! Thank you so much Graham !

  • "We had a superb stay at Glenavon, the location and view were simply stunning, the cottage was fantastic and had everything we needed, couldn’t fault it."

There was a bit of a climb to and from the cottage but it was well worth it. Sitting on the terrace overlooking the beach was just beautiful, you would struggle to find more stunning scenery. We received a lovely welcome tray with scones, clotted cream, jam, biscuits and Cornish tea and milk, there was also a lovely vase of fresh flowers. We can’t wait to return!

First impression of the property was how clean and fresh it was, a lovely welcome pack and flowers really made it feel special. The property itself is very well equipped, comfortable, and was lovely and warm on wet and windy nights. The view from the property is simply amazing. Me and the family loved our time here and would gladly recommend.

The property and location is excellent Even though there are the issue of steps and steep walk down and up from property (which is stated when booking this property) Is does not spoil a great holiday Great views of sea and so relaxing to hear the sound of the waves

  • "Glenavon is certainly an amazing property."

the inside was faultless, every comfort and need catered for. The view and seated area/garden were amazing, spent many hours reading a book in the sunshine watching the bay and listening to the waves, bliss. The ONLY reason we will NOT be going back there again is the access to the property. 200yards of very steep narrow cliff path followed by 70 steep steps after you have parked your car at the top further along the road. Loading and unloading the car with heavy suitcases and all the other paraphernalia you need on holiday was a killer. Don't go out in the rain or after dark. Seriously only for the young or very fit.

  • "We stayed at Cliffside next door last year, and booked Glenavon this year because of the amazing view."

It is a little piece of heaven. You can sit on the terrace, and feel as if you are the only people in the whole world. It was really well equipped, fresh and clean. The climb from the road and down to the beach are not for the infirm, but this is clear in the description. Our only issue, and hence the four stars were the thunder/fruit flies which were all over the place when we arrived. We managed to get them out of the windows. Three days later they appeared again, and we purchased a fly spray which seemed to do the trick. The owner was aware of the flies and left us a note about it.

  • "We stayed in Glenavon for our honeymoon and it was perfect!"

It was so peaceful and the ideal place to relax and unwind. The uninterrupted view of Whitsand Bay is beautiful and even when the weather wasn't in our favour the large French doors meant we could continue to enjoy the view from the sofa! The whole place was spotlessly clean when we arrived and finished to a high standard. We would absolutely recommend staying here, we loved it and will definitely be back!

  • "Spectacular view, and a lovely beach right at the bottom of the hill."

Take note of the access comments in the detailed description … it is a steep path down from the allocated parking to the cottage, and again from the cottage down to the beach, but it’s all manageable as long as are reasonably fit and healthy / your mobility is good. The cottage is well designed, comfortable and equipped for everything you need. Lovely touches on arrival with the ingredients for a Cream Tea, shortbread biscuits and cut flowers.

The property

Sat high atop the cliffs at Whitsand Bay, with spectacular panoramic views along the Rame peninsula is Glenavon.

A rambling cliff path leads to this detached cliffside cabin - the position is breath-taking and perfect for beach-lovers and surfers.

Inside the cabin is fresh, modern and contemporary with an open plan living/dining room and smart fitted kitchen area all with incredible sea views.

There are two bedrooms.

The first, a king-size double with an en-suite shower nestled in the eaves (low head height) on the first floor.

At the end of a hot and busy day, you can throw open the velux windows, slip between the sheets and simply listen to the wind and the waves below whilst watching the stars above.

On the ground floor the second bedroom is ideal for children and has a cabin and a single bed.

There's also a family shower room.

To the side of the cabin there is a neat lawned area and at the rear with nothing between you and the view, a patio seating area perfect for enjoying cocktails and a spot of dolphin spotting, as the sun sinks below the horizon.

Whitsand Bay beach is just 130 metres further along the cliff path (steep access) and a very handy outside shower means you can rinse sandy boards and wetsuits.

Nearby is Mount Edgcumbe Country Park, the very pretty twin fishing villages of Kingsand and Cawsand where you can enjoy seaside dining in one of several good pubs.

Foot/car ferries await to whisk you away to Plymouth, Devon's Ocean City, home to the historic Barbican, Hoe, National Marine Aquarium, and shops, bars and restaurants aplenty.

Glenavon is a truly special destination.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £100.

About the location

WHITSAND BAY

Torpoint 5 miles.

Set in a bowl of hills at the head of a tidal creek that leads to the Hamoaze, opposite the great naval city of Plymouth, Millbrook is located on the Rame Peninsula, "Cornwall's Forgotten Corner". Bounded by the Lynher and Tamar rivers, the Hamoaze and the sea, the area is deeply rural and designated as one of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The village has a good range of shops and pubs, while close by are the pretty coastal villages of Kingsand and Cawsand, from which a ferry will take you to Plymouth. Along the southern edges of the peninsula are miles of beautiful walks with glorious views of Rame Head. Just a mile south of Millbrook lies Whitsand Bay with its miles of uncrowded sandy RNLI patrolled beach and dramatic cliffs. A superb base for discovering the wild side of Cornwall.

Note: Access to Glenavon is via 100m of uneven coastal footpath followed by 70 steps. It is not suitable for guests with limited mobility.

Note: Due to the open nature of the rear garden, this property is not suitable for children under 8 and older children and pets must be under close control at all times.
