  • "This was a beautifully clean and comfortable lodge with the most comfortable bed ever."

The only addition i can think of would be a coffee machine. There was only 1 disappointment for ourselves, the hot tub, only 1 side of the jets worked, and then very weak and the pump was noisy, we only used it once, we do have high standards on hot tubs though as we have one at home. The pub on the site was very good fir drink and food as was having the swimming pool to myself. Better instructions on finding the lodge on the site would have been helpful and we couldnt use the dedicated parking bay as other people were using it.

Thankyou Glenda for your great all round review!! Our apologies with the hot tub situation, we have had it checked and now back on track, it seemed one of the dials was not working properly!! So glad you enjoyed the site facilities & our apologies about the space, the site has moved to no allocated spaces so I will update the info!! Thankyou again for booking Lodge 22, you are not the first to love that mattress!!! Best wishes to you both!!! Property Owner

  • "We had a wonderful weeks stay at Lodge 22 in August."

Simon was fantastic with communication before we arrived. On arrival we found a very well maintained , clean and tidy lodge. It provided everything we needed for our self catering stay and more! The hot tub was the icing on the cake and we spent most nights in there after a busy day exploring the delights of the surrounding area. The beach is situated a few hundred yards from the lodge. Although it is a steep walk down it is certainly worth it with a breathtaking scene that awaits you! Our children enjoyed body boarding and there are surf lessons available too.The clotted cream scones from the café at the top were the delicious incentive for the walk back up. We particularly enjoyed nearby Kingsand/Cawsand with its picture perfect views and hired kayaks to explore the coves and inlets. We honestly had the best time and can't wait to visit again and have already booked for next year!!

Many thanks for some great and valued feedback Tom!!! You guys obviously enjoyed the local area and took full advantage of everything it offers. A detailed discription of the immediate area is very helpful to our other guests, helping them make the most of their stay. Best wishes and many thanks again for booking us for 2024!!! • "Beautiful lodge and very homely and welcoming, the little extra touches in staying in a owner home lodge what obvious."

Would recommend, only problem for us is that we have a special needs daughter so the walk to the lodge from the car park did cause us some problems and there was no way of getting a wheelchair to it. The restaurant was a total let down, food displayed on the website and in the menus was cut in half and there wasn't staff or no clear instructions what the procedure was to order. We sat at our table for 20 minutes with no menu once i found the waitress and asked what we was to do ("get your own menu from the bar then order from the single bar person") then another 30 minutes to line up at the bar to order. We would have loved to stay the night there but even during your meal if you wanted another drink it was a 30 minute wait in the line to the bar. Clear instructions would have been helpful or even someone to tell you. Swimming pool was nice but with a family of 6 the £36 each time was a little much on top of the £35 for an extra car to park in the car park.

Thankyou Kim for your feedback & we are so glad you enjoyed the lodge!! We are sorry to hear you found it difficult with your daughter & will make our access info more clear. The bar and restaurant have had a few issues which we have noticed, sometimes people are very happy, other occasions not so, our apologies again Kim!!! The pool is now in the hands of the site and we understand the cost but with ongoing heating bills they are really on a tough call & that is why the charges in the carpark have increased. We have a free space which was in the details and it is possible to park on the coast road for nothing but we understand your point! We hope the area lived up to your expectations and hope you will come back and see us again soon, many thanks for taking the time to review us! Simon & Nicky Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely week at lodge 22."

The weather was far from ideal but the hot tub was great to come home to each day. There wasn't anything we needed that wasn't in the kitchen too so we could cook properly which saves money with teenage mouths to feed. The view across to Plymouth was unexpected and fab. The nearest beach was our favourite from the week, and almost deserted thanks to the steep steps down to it. Well worth it if your knees can take it. The lifeguards were running 1 to 1 ratios with swimmers! The cafe at the cliff bottom is better described as a vending machine really, so take food! We did surf lessons there with Adventure Bay. Very fun. Cawsand and Kingsand also lovely. As was the ferry ride from Cawsand to Plymouth. Looe Bay very close by for boat trips, crabbing and a more bustling seaside option, and Eden Project less than an hour away and perfect for the Amber weather warning day !! The park restaurant was good food for our treat night out. But we didn't make use of any other facilities there. All in all, a great week, and responsive and helpful hosts. I recommended the lodge to a friend before we even left!

Well what a super review!!! Great to have your accurate guest feedback for the lodge and the local area, so helpful for future visitors!!!Many thanks Emily, sorry we could not help with the weather, Sykes are working on an always sun app very soon!! lol!!! Property Owner

It is located in a beautiful location with absolutely gorgeous views. It was so so so nice that we didn't want to leave. Our family originate from Millbrook so we have stayed in many places around the Rame Peninsula and as a base with young children this was perfect. The lodge has its own free parking or one vehicle which if you know the area you will know is not too common. It is bright and spacious with amazing views towards the Tamar. It is very well equipped and comfortable with lovely beds and bedding. The hot tub was a great extra although sadly we had no clear evening skies, maybe next time! The children have asked already when we will be going back so I'm sure we will as soon as we can. The facilities on site are great, you can swim in the lovely pool for under £20 for a family of 4. The site has a bus stop right outside where you can get all over including Cremyl (Mount Edgecombe), Cawsand & Kingsand and Plymouth via the ferry. Thanks guys for a great stay

It was super clean, comfortable, with all the comforts of home and beautifully furnished. We felt relaxed from the moment we arrived. There was plenty of space for everyone (we are a family of four) and the hot tub was a lovely bonus! The Lodge is situated in peaceful picturesque surroundings, and was a superb base in which to explore this area of Cornwall. We also made use of the onsite swimming pool, cafe and pub. The Sunday Roast (carvery) was good, the pool was immaculate and well run and the cafe was conveniently situated nearby. The owners kept in touch during our stay to ensure everything was ok. Thank you Nicky and Simon for making our Cornish break a wonderful one!

Thankyou Joanne for a great bit of feedback, we are so pleased you had a great break with us at Lodge 22!!!! • "What can I say!"

This place is amazing. The Lodge itself is beautifully presented. It’s immaculate and extremely clean. It’s got everything you need for a break away. The owners Simon & Nicky were very good with communication by texting us details and making sure we were ok during our stay. We felt reassured knowing that we could contact them for anything (not that we needed to as all was perfect). The little touches were great. The area itself is brilliant for exploring the area. There are clifftop walks, beaches and a lovely cliff top cafe for food and refreshments. We even bought a lovely framed picture that was painted by a local artist so we can keep that special memory of our break away. We were very lucky with weather too considering the time of year. There is a bus stop a few minutes walk away where we got on the bus (only £2 each way) to go to Plymouth for the day. The bus goes to Torpoint Ferry port, then onto the ferry over to Plymouth, then to the town centre. It’s about an hour in total. So worth the money. We paid £8 for 2 adults there and back! Would have cost a lot more in a car for petrol and parking. What a bargain! Tregantle Beach and St Michael’s Chapel is a must too if you have no mobility issues. There is an on-site bar and restaurant, cafe and pool too. Would definitely go back. Thank you to Simon & Nicky for letting us stay in your beautiful lodge and everything.

Well thankyou Wendy!!! We are so glad you enjoyed not just the lodge but obviously the whole area, giving such an accurate & comprehensive review, you should be employed by the English Tourist Board!!! The cheap bus fare is part of a government subsidy study for the next three years to help improve usage by dropping prices & improving services so, .... everybody use it, if you come down to anywhere in Cornwall!!! We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for leaving the lodge in the best condition ever, we would recommend you as 10/10 guests to any holiday letting agency!!!! Stay all day to make sure you conserve your energy for the walk back. Unfortunately, the onsite pool wasn't open and not an extensive menu choice - however, do not let that put you off, it didn't take anything away from our enjoyment - it's a fabulous site, they're working on it constantly to improve. The thought they put into their guests was clear, from the text to say have a great stay through to the Prosecco and chocolate left for us on arrival. The holiday park is quiet & friendly. • "We had a fantastic holiday at Lodge 22."

The lodge is clean, spacious and really well equipped. The owners were very helpful prior to check in and during our stay. We can't comment on the facilities on site as we didn't use them! The beach over the road is absolutely stunning but it's a very steep walk down and back up, not suitable for prams (as we found out!!) We would definitely stay here again.

  • "The lodge and hot tub is very overlooked by other lodges so there is little privacy especially when in the hot tub."

The local area is very steep cliffs and not suitable for many people. However the views of Plymouth from the lodge are very good. The site has very limited facilities due to the covid shut down and the local area has only one restaurant within walking distance.

We are sorry to have received this review & can only think that what you were looking for was simply not our lodge! We clean and maintain the property ourselves so we know that every week it is left in the same high standard, the photos clearly show its position and the views are exceptional, which can only be achieved from a point of height! There are many other lovely beaches & great food to be had within a short drive or bus ride(100mtrs to bus stop). Many previous reviews seem to paint a slightly different picture of a very special place. Regards Simon & Nicky. Property Owner

  • "I want to thank our hosts, Simon and Nicky, for being so hospitable."

They were quick to answer any queries that we had and made us feel very welcome. The lodge, itself, is quite spacious and clean. They provided Prosecco and chocolate in the fridge for us, which was a very sweet thing of them to do. The location is perfect with beautiful surroundings and it was easy to reach local attractions. The only problem was that due to COVID restrictions, the restaurant and pool were closed. Other than that, it was a perfect little getaway. We will definitely come back when things get better.

Great communication with the owner, the hot tub was brilliant, the location is fantastic close to the coastline with breathtaking views, good we took our bikes with us as it’s quite an experience to cycle on the coastline. On our arrival we found a complimentary cava and chocolate in the fridge which was a very nice touch from the owners. Overall we had an amazing holiday and we would definitely come back.

On arrival there was a bottle of cava and a chocolate bar in the fridge which we were not expecting. The whole lodge was so comfy and cosy. We sat in the hot tub looking at the stars in the evenings which was just beautiful. The Lodge had everything you needed, the electric fire was perfect for the cold evenings. The owners kept in contact and help with anything we needed. I would highly recommend Lodge 22 and would definitely visit again.

  • "We had a Lovely time at lodge 22."

Very clean and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Owners couldn’t do enough to help us out on the first day. Wine and chocolate was left as a little treat which was a lovely surprise after our six hour drive. Thanks Guys ! The local beach is a very steep walk down the cliffs definitely not a suitable beach to walk to with a pushchair and small children as we found out. Lovely as the beach was there was a better more accessible beach at Cawsand and a nice restaurant The Bay also a short drive away. Mon to Thurs nothing is open at the park there is a small village Millbrook down very narrow lanes about a mile away which has a coop and premier shop for milk and essentials. Lovely views we didn’t use the hot tub although it looked lovely as the weather wasn’t great but it is Sept. We all enjoyed our stay.

Very much a home from home with everything you could possibly want and need. A peaceful location with stunning views to wake up to. Perfect location for exploring the area. We loved the hot tub. The owners were very helpful and made sure we were comfortable and settled. Little touches like a bottle of fizz and chocolate in the fridge gave us the real sense of being special and so welcoming when entering the lodge for the first time. All in all we had an amazing family holiday and would definitely go again anytime.

  • "Had a fantastic time at lodge 22 absolutely beautiful, amazing views , lodge is very comfortable home from home the owner of the lodge simon was very very helpful and was only a phone call away with any questions we had , if you don't like driving due to the narrow roads and want a few drinks on a evening then I recommend Coastline taxi very helpful and reasonable priced , due to covid we didn't have the facilities on site so no pool ,no cafe and the restaurant only opened up Thursday to Sunday."

If you do like to go to other villages then you will have to drive but they do some bus routes but the buses are very hit and miss , the beach is beautiful but be prepared for a steep hike back and not good for the older ones with disabilities. Cawsand and kingsland were lovely and millbrook is not to far away if you need essentials. The actual lodge is amazing and you don't need anything apart from food as there is everything in the lodge you need plus the amazing hotub. Would recommend lodge 22 to my family and friends .

About the location

MILLBROOK

Whitsand Bay 1 mile; Plymouth 8 miles.

Set in a bowl of hills at the head of a tidal creek that leads to the Hamoaze, opposite the great naval city of Plymouth, Millbrook is located on the Rame Peninsula, "Cornwall's Forgotten Corner". Bounded by the Lynher and Tamar rivers, the Hamoaze and the sea, the area is deeply rural and designated as one of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The village has a good range of shops and pubs, while close by are the pretty coastal villages of Kingsand and Cawsand, from which a ferry will take you to Plymouth. Along the southern edges of the peninsula are miles of beautiful walks with glorious views of Rame Head. Just a mile south of Millbrook lies Whitsand Bay with its miles of uncrowded sandy RNLI patrolled beach and dramatic cliffs. A superb base for discovering the wild side of Cornwall.
