This small creekside village is nestled in mid Cornwall, three miles east of Truro. The meaning of the village translates to "a place of eels" in the Cornish language, according to a 19th century writer. However since then it has been translated to "farm/settlement of a man called Sulyen". Within the village is a small number of older buildings including a Grade II listed thatched Inn. Set in the Cornish countryside, Tresillian retains a largely rural character, with the advantage of not being too far away from Cornwall's capital. There is a mixture of pastoral and arable farming in the surrounding area and one of the prettiest riverside walks in Cornwall can be accessed from the western end of the village. Truro offers a good range of independent shops as well as art galleries, bars, restaurants, a cinema and a theatre.
