“Perfect place for a large family gathering at Christmas”

The farmhouse was absolutely ideal for us - one large family with an Australian contingent, 23 people in all, stayed over Christmas. The farmhouse was absolutely ideal for us - one large family with an Australian contingent, 23 people in all, stayed over Christmas. Use of the barns and outhouses too gave us plenty of space to spread out and relax as well and the enormous table in the dining area accommodated all of us easily for meals. It wasn't very cold weather (11degrees) so we were able to sit in the spacious conservatory around the log fire and keep warm. As there were 2 other log fires, we had some logs delivered to keep us going during the week. Beach Cottages were very helpful in arranging delivery and answering all our pre-visit questions. The kitchen was very well equipped and the whole place spotlessly clean and we really appreciated the natural Christmas tree .The only thing lacking in the kitchen were nutcrackers (it being Christmas we bought walnuts in their shells). We took advantage of the voucher for the reduced price cream teas at Healey's but as we are all outdoor types we didn't need any other attractions - apart from a lot of eating, we just enjoyed walking around the estate, on the coast path and visiting nearby beaches A very memorable stay for all and we can thoroughly recommend to anyone in a large party..

About the location

TRESILLIAN

Truro 3 miles; Tregony 4.3 miles; Portloe 8.3 miles, Perranport, 12 miles, Falmouth 14 miles

This small creekside village is nestled in mid Cornwall, three miles east of Truro. The meaning of the village translates to "a place of eels" in the Cornish language, according to a 19th century writer. However since then it has been translated to "farm/settlement of a man called Sulyen". Within the village is a small number of older buildings including a Grade II listed thatched Inn. Set in the Cornish countryside, Tresillian retains a largely rural character, with the advantage of not being too far away from Cornwall's capital. There is a mixture of pastoral and arable farming in the surrounding area and one of the prettiest riverside walks in Cornwall can be accessed from the western end of the village. Truro offers a good range of independent shops as well as art galleries, bars, restaurants, a cinema and a theatre. The architecture will intrigue those who visit along with plenty of things to do and see. Just meandering through the Georgian cobbled streets is a pleasure in itself. Day trips can be had to Falmouth, along the stunning Fal estuary, where its natural harbour and beaches will keep you occupied for hours. Across from Falmouth harbour is the beautiful town of St Mawes, surrounded by rocky coves and lush green countryside of the Roseland Peninsula. This Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty will inspire those looking for awe and wonder, with a vast region of fabulous walking, delightful creeks and tranquil beaches. A fabulous area you will want to return to!
