Good pubs and village shop and some amazing walks on your doorstep. Will definitely book again.

  • "Our second stay at Lavender Barn and it was equally charming."

The house is cosy and comfortable with everything we needed. Super, comfy bed and plush bedding. The logburner was most welcome for that extra cosy feel (although the central heating was very easy to use and plenty warm enough!). Nice, powerful shower. Crantock is lovely - two very friendly pubs with great food, a beach just a short walk away and a very well stocked shop with post office.

  • "Great little cottage, well equipped and maintained."

Even the knives were sharp, which makes a nice change. Bed was very comfortable. Location is superb, within short walk to local pubs, shop and beach. Very quiet and relaxing. We really enjoyed our stay, but slightly tainted by the automatic lights in the hallway and bathroom, which made sleep difficult at times. They stay on too long particularly the bathroom. Had to keep the bedroom door open to allow air to circulate as even with windows open it was very stuffy inside during the warm weather. This meant that light got in. A floor or ceilling fan would have probably solved the problem, or the ability to override the sensors.

Thanks for your excellent feedback. It has been difficult to keep cool during the recent heatwave. We have ordered a fan which should arrive in the next couple of weeks and will be stored in the property. Property Owner

  • "What a lovely place, no expense spared, it is furnished beautifully and with quality items, the barn is very comfortable and we felt very at home."

Lavender barn is perfectly situated in Crantock, it is a 30 second walk from the pub and the pizzeria and ice parlour and no more than a 15 minute walk to the most amazing beach. My only criticism is that the garden is not connected to the barn, so bear this in mind, it wasn’t a problem for us as our dogs don’t wonder off, but this may be a issue for others. We would definitely book this again.

We had a fabulous week with a comfy bed and sofa and great WiFi, however we feel the kitchen area could do with being updated especially a lack of mugs (went and purchased 4) and wine and beer glasses. You provide a coffee machine but no mugs small to fit under it? These small updates would make the place perfect!!!! Thanks for the cream tea!!!

Thank you for your feedback. All cottage information and directions are contained on the Sykes portal (post Covid). The cooker has basic standard operating controls, if you visit again please call the housekeeper who will be glad to help. Property Owner

Absolutely ideal location 10 mins walk to the beach. Decorated to a high standard. Good to have the living accommodation on virtually one level. Lucky we took a torch as it can get very dark outside when taking the dogs into the garden. Location in the village is perfect with good pub and cafe a minute away. Dogs loved it too!

  • "Lovely property."

Has everything that you may want. Great for couples. Located in centre of village but only a minutes walk from 2 pubs and 10 minutes walk to the glorious beach. Off road parking is a real bonus. The bed is enormous and comfortable. Welcome pack delicious! Hope to return asap. A few minor issues: Information pack would be nice. Take a torch if you have a dog. The enclosed lawn is very dark at night! A switch to turn off the PIR activated lights outside the bedroom at night would be nice. The lights currently stay on for about 10 minutes so if you have a nocturnal toilet break you will illuminate the bedroom, albeit briefly. There is a PIR activated switch in the bedroom. I believe it may be a burglar alarm. When you move in bed it activates and a bright green light turns on by the bed. It stays on for several minutes and is enough to wake you. For some reason this stopped activating the last 2 nights we were there

bed super king - brilliant although a new mattress is needed. Unfortunately we had an issue with the heating, Pauline and Brian tried their absolute best to resolve. Lovely people x Hopefully will be sorted for our next stay. We have a very well behaved dog and respected the property 100% Little bits of damage here and there from previous pets by the look of it, such a shame. Loved it and have booked for another stay next year.

Thank you for your feedback and glad you enjoyed the stay, happy to say the bed has now been replaced following your feedback and the heating was simply on the incorrect setting. It seems the previous users dog had damaged a few areas of the property which have now also been repaired. Looking forward to seeing you next time! Property Owner

  • "Lovely gem of a place in the heart of Crantock, with shops pubs and beach walks on your doorstep."

Well stocked kitchen and really comfy furnishings. The wife really adored the sumptuous mattress. Loved the wood burner in the evening. There were only a few minor points. We had difficulties trying to work out how to control the heating, and then the wireless thermostat did not seem to work all the time. An instruction pack for the amenities would be a great idea. Having to access the garden not directly from the house was a bit of an inconvenience especially in the dark with two small dogs. Luckily, I took some torches to enable me to see. A garden flood light would be great. Also, the bed seemed to slop on the right-hand side. I think the bed support might need looking at.

  • "Lavender Cottage is in a perfect location, great for the beach and easily accessed parking space (gold dust!"

). It was as described in the listing, however, we did have some issues with cleanliness and comfort. There were some surface areas and corners of rooms that needed attention. Unfortunate. And the bed was very uncomfortable due to a significant dip in the mattress and bobbley, we’ll-worn sheets (I longed for my bed at home). Also, a couple of minor things: the bathroom light is on a sensor so it would light up in the middle of the night, not ideal. The garden was set opposite the, albeit small, carpark and on full view, again, not ideal. It was also very warm and we had to have the front door open for air due to the separate access to the garden and lack of wide opening windows. We won’t be returning.

Thanks for your feedback, as you stated the barn is exactly as per the listing. I’m sorry the bed wasn’t to your taste, historic feedback regularly compliments the comfort, size and high quality linen. The bathroom light is on a sensor and switches off automatically when you close the door. Your stay coincided with a heat wave, the barn is usually cool based on its construction. The owners have taken on board your feedback in order to improve. Property Owner

  • "First impressions were great and we were really happy with the space and facilities."

The shower was decent and the bed was really comfortable. The location is brilliant, we absolutely love the area of Crantock and the beach is a short walk away which saves on parking costs! The scones and condiments were a nice touch however on closer inspection we did spot some cleanliness issues such as dusty cobwebs above the windows in the living room, ceiling of the bedroom and behind furniture. I know spiders will find their homes in any home but I would expect old dusty cobwebs to be cleared away especially when they fell on us or our belongings if we created a breeze! Also the cutlery draw was dirty and there was a hair in the knife compartment. The bbq was in need of a good scrubbing before use (not something you really want to be doing after paying £1,400 for a week away) it should be clean and ready to use for each guest. We chose not to use it in the end. When you pay a significant amount of money and with check in at 5pm, check out at 9am to enable a “deep clean” it isn’t justified. It’s a shame because the stay would of been perfect without these niggles.

What a wonderful place to stay! We loved every minute.. great accommodation, great location. The barn was wonderfully clean and the bed! Wow so comfortable and massive! We would visit again in a heartbeat! Pauline was fab, thank you Pauline .. the scones cream & jam were a lovely touch! If you are deliberating about booking don’t just book it! Only thing I could even think to suggest to improve further is a TV in the bedroom.. after a long day walking or on the beach would be nice to chill out in bed watching TV however I realise not for everyone and certainly didn’t spoil our stay. That is only the only thing I’d suggest as everything else perfect The other massive plus is no traffic going past the barn, really lovely and quiet.. it was all fab wonderful village, beach is 5 minutes away as are many great coastal walks.. all in all perfect

  • "Lavender Barn is a great find, and a great stay, and I would return."

I would like to point out just a few things that I thought could make an improvement for all visitors. Although it states dog friendly the garden is not quite attached to the house, so its not just like letting your dogs out in your own garden, my dogs are small but the gate made easy escape for the one, so maybe some netting to avoid this, maybe a hose pipe too to wash dogs off before entering the house, with a hook to tie them to. I cant re-call if there was a sensor light that covered the garden area, again makes it easier when looking for our fury legged friends.. One thing I wish was supplied was a mop & bucket, especially after rainy walks etc. Very limited cupboard space for own provisions, maybe some more shelving to avoid having to clutter up the work surface. Or maybe use of one of the other cupboards for food etc. The bedside tables are literally tables, but having drawers in them, along with the dressing table the same, would give visitors far more storage space. The bathroom too, just some more space to put wash bags etc. The barn was clean & tidy on arrival the little touch of the fresh scones & jam & cream was lovely. Really comfy & welcoming. We had a great stay & would return.

  • "Great locaton Not totally dog friendly with having to go out front door to get to garden couldnt leave him in garden as couldnt see him."

They could put secure fence and gate in front of front door and create small path access at side of barn into garden. Not enough out door lighting when dark none by garden/carparking area or coming up the driveway its very dark. Cleaning needs to be bit better window frames behind blinds dusty found 8 dead flies the dogs toy went under the sofa when i retrieved it it was thick of dust under there. The kitchen work surface hadnt been Wiped over properly i could still feel sticky dirt on it. Lack of storage in bedroom ideally bedside tables need drawers in ideally dressing table too. No tv in bedroom. The bedroom radiator didnt work. The shower is extremely small we re not oversized people im 5ft and size 12 i just about managed my hubby is average man he really struggled. I had to shuffle kitchen cupboards to create space for food very limited. All of this can easily be rectified.

Thank you for your feedback. The listing shows the location of the garden, the level of storage available and also identifies that there isn't a television in the bedroom. The radiator was checked following your departure and found to be working properly. The cleaning is checked by our housekeeper prior to each arrival, however that being said we have passed your feedback onto the team to ensure the issue does not reoccur. Property Owner
