  • "We had a lovely stay - would have liked to know how to turn the heating up a notch as it was chilly in the evenings but the weather was pretty mild so it didn’t matter."

We could have used the wood burner but saved it for when/if it suddenly got colder. Beautiful location and handy for revisiting old/popular haunts.

Trevenning Barn was just the perfect retreat after busy days out and about. Only recommendations for even more comfort would be extra blankets for beds especially for those chilly nights & larger bath towels (those provided a little small for my 6ft son)!

There was loads of space to amuse our grandaughter of 8years with casual badminton and tennis returns and introducing her to french cricket. Had we more time we would have been tempted to open the croquet set and see if past skills were still retained. Most enjoyable in all respects.

  • "We had a delightful holiday."

The only inaccuracy in the details for the property was that fuel and power are included. In fact, only a starter pack of fuel is included. This is quite usual but slightly misleading in this instance. I was surprised that the wifi was unsecured which meant I was unable to use it to contact my office (which was a double edged sword!). The broadband was also slow and subject to interruption. But Trevenning Barn is a lovely spacious, well equipped and beautifully clean house in a delightful location.

  • "There were no problems and we had a wonderful break."

Just one small thing - the directions after leaving the A39 onto the B3266 said the turning for Trevenning was two miles but after going back and forth could not find the turning. We decided to go further on and found the turning which was more like four miles. This is only an observation and not a complaint.

  • "The photos really did not do this place justice!"

We had a fantastic holiday - perfect settings, and super comfortable accommodation. We took our mum's with us - and the downstairs was perfect for them - brilliant twin bedroom was "L" shaped, and almost like having two single rooms, walk in shower, and easy access to the kitchen for their early morning cups of tea (Even had a sofa which was great when we were cooking they kept us company). When we were all upstairs - having another bathroom meant not having to run up and down to the loo, and the living room was awesome! On one night we had family come to visit us (They live locally and it was great to catch up) - but even with 11 of us upstairs the room was spacious and really companionable. The wood burner is not the usual "twig burner" that many holiday lets have to offer - but made the fireplace the real focal point of the room. Outside the paddock was brilliant for tiring out Milton our Labrador, and the front porch / rear scullery were great for wiping muddy paws (yes - of course it rained!) The owners were lovely - though we hardly saw them, and they made us feel really welcome. Only downside - and it was a big one - having to leave this wonderful cottage to come home. See you next year! Dave & Gwenda

The property

Located in the quiet hamlet of Trevenning, not far from the quintessentially Cornish harbour town of Port Isaac, Trevenning Barn offers a rustic, countryside family holiday.

With wide open rural views and extensive grounds to explore, this spacious and detached barn conversion nestles peacefully adjacent to the owners home and another, smaller holiday barn Trevenning Chapel.

From the entrance lobby on the ground floor, guests arrive at the farmhouse-style kitchen/dining area, with French doors which open out onto a south-westerly facing terrace, a lovely feature on a warm summer's day.

A handy utility/laundry room is accessed from the kitchen, and there is also a twin bedroom and shower room on the ground floor.

Upstairs, the roomy lounge is a most convivial space, complete with traditional features such as beams and exposed stone walls.

A cosy wood burning stove is the hub of this room (starter pack only provided) which has been thoughtfully decorated by the owners.

There is a further bedroom on this floor, as well as a family bathroom.

The garden at this property is a fantastic feature - a lovely, large open space (shared with Trevenning Chapel another holiday cottage on the grounds) ideal for family games and picnics.

Guests are also welcome to explore the shared grounds and fields beyond the garden; perfect for walkies with the family pet!

There is much to see and do in the surrounding area, too, with the beautiful north Cornish coast and its picturesque fishing villages close by, as well as some of the best beaches in the county.

Keen cyclists will enjoy the Camel Cycle Trail, a traffic-free trail along the estuary from Wadebridge to Padstow and those who prefer walking will discover mile upon mile of unspoilt countryside at nearby Bodmin Moor.

Ideally located for a simple break away from it all, Trevenning Barn makes a homely retreat whatever the time of year.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £200.
