  • "The accommodation was amazing, very comfortable with high quality finish."

The access to the location is not easy with very narrow steep access and a steep wooden staircase. In addition there was no access to the garden for our two dogs and the patio area is actually a gravel pathway around the back of the property which I located in the owners beautiful but inaccessible back garden! Very disappointed and not an easy relaxing holiday that we had expected after such a long time!

We can not see why Carnmarth failed to meet expectations, we live in the country and gave instructions not to follow the Sat Nav and go off roading, but they did and complained???. for peace and quiet you have to leave the city. All was well until they asked if they could use our beautiful garden as a dog toilet, which we declined, as there are fantastic lead free walks to the woods and lake right from the main gate. the gravelled patio area can be used for wees at night. we live half way up the 2nd highest hill in Cornwall, so perhaps our holiday let is not for city lovers. • "A truly wonderful holiday cottage with all expectations met."

Richard and Caroline were on hand if required, full of local knowledge and countless recommendations of places of interest to visit. Carnmarth cottage was spotlessly clean, light and airy with stunning views of the gardens and countless variety of birds feeding on many a feeder. The welcome pack was just the ticket as we arrived, enjoying jam, cream and fresh scones....."Colin" a young Newfoundland Poodle was a absolute buddle of joy when being welcomed by him. A great central location within easy reach of all the usual places to visit and many more new places to discover.. Many thanks to Richard and Caroline for our stay. 10 out of 10. • "This was one of the nicest holiday cottages we have stayed in."

Small but perfectly formed. The double bed has a memory foam mattress which really helped us sleep well. The access isn’t suitable for anyone with poor mobility but that was in the description. The kitchen was beautiful and very well equipped.

About the location

Porthtowan 5 miles; Portreath 6 miles; Truro 7 miles; St Ives 20 miles; Falmouth 10 miles.

St Day was once the mining centre for mid-Cornwall until nearby Redruth took over the title, and you can still see the terraces of granite cottages originally built for the miners. The village was originally named after the little known Saint Day or Dye (better known in Brittany). The village now has a pub and convenience store, as well as a granite, gothic-style church dating back to 1828. Six miles away is the popular village of Portreath which attracts visitors from around the world with its wild and rugged coastline. High cliffs, secluded coves and sandy, surf-washed beaches typify the area while all around are reminders of the area's rich industrial heritage. Portreath offers a small fishing harbour, shops, a number of pubs, three cafés and a Chinese restaurant, while its safe, sheltered sandy beach is a popular attraction. For a great day out, visit the cathedral city of Truro with its cobbled streets, shopping centre, theatre, museum and great restaurants, just 7 miles away, or travel a few miles along the coast and follow the vast expanse of sandy beach, which leads down to Hayle and on to St Ives. A delightful holiday location.
