  • "Perfect location, hosts and the property."

One of the best kept properties we have stayed at. Beautiful well maintained grounds, a lot of space for the dog to run around. Relaxing holiday, friendly and professional hosts. Could not ask for more.

  • "The property was really gorgeous, especially the first floor sitting room/kitchen, with the great views of the gardens (4."

5 acres). The gardens are superb, beautifully laid out very naturally, complete with ponds and a river running through. Matt was very friendly, very helpful. A perfect host. We would certainly book again when wanting to visit this part of Cornwall again.

  • "The property was lovely and well maintained."

Gardens were also beautiful - we often saw the owner out there keeping it maintained to a high standard. The owner met us on arrival and made an effort to say goodbye when we left! The only thing I’ll mention is the place felt damp. Both of my children also said this when they got into bed on the first night - the bedding felt damp. The property is old, so this could be why - I’m not expert in these things!

  • "Very lovely holiday house in beautiful surroundings."

We and our dog enjoyed exploring the extensive grounds. The house is in a remote location, which is what we were looking for, but close enough to Penzance supermarkets and many beautiful tourist attractions. We would definitely stay there again. Rosekennals is a very special place.

  • "We had an extraordinary stay at the Granary!"

We had a very warm welcome, the property is fabulous and the owners thought about really everything. Everything is spotlessly clean, plenty of room in the property, it's cosy and the owners are always approachable for every information you would like. Also the grounds are very well maintained. We'd love to come back!

The property

In an idyllic setting, in a wooded valley with pretty meadows bordered by a stream is Roskennals, a small, exclusive development of cottages in the grounds of a former mill.

Roskennals Granary is a handsome, detached stone cottage beautifully converted with original beams, raftered ceiling open to the apex and gorgeous oak flooring.

Reverse level to make the most of the surrounding views, a solid oak staircase leads to the open plan first floor.

Here you'll find a bespoke kitchen with sleek granite worktops and everything you'll need to cater for your family.

In the sitting area, Italian leather sofas, traditional Afghan rugs and a cosy wood-burner for cooler evenings make this the perfect year-round retreat.

The ground floor bedrooms are peacefully tranquil with slate flooring and cool whitewashed walls.

Outside, a west-facing sitting area is the ideal spot for enjoying a glass of wine and you are of course welcome to explore the extensive grounds including a pretty lake, perfect for picnicking.

Close to all that's good in Cornwall, nearby you've a host of excellent attractions to choose from including St Michaels Mount, The Minack Theatre and a plethora of sandy beaches and stunning walking routes.

The historic harbour town of Penzance can be reached within a short drive as can Mousehole and Porthleven some of the prettiest villages in the region.

With so much to see and do, you're assured of a memorable holiday at Roskennals Granary.

About the location

PENZANCE

St Ives 8 miles. Helicopter to Isles of Scilly - 30 minutes

Penzance hosts Golowan, the Midsummer Carnival, and The Literary Festival. There are also The Exchange, Newlyn and Penlee Art Galleries. One of Cornwall’s most popular holiday areas is the spectacular sweep of Mount’s Bay, from the cliffside fishing village of Mousehole through Penzance and around to beautiful Marazion, the coastline hides a wealth of sandy beaches, rocky coves as well as winding village streets and other places to visit and explore. Connected by a causeway to the shore at Marazion is the National Trust’s stunningly beautiful St Michael’s Mount with its hilltop castle and Mediterranean gardens. Walk across at low water and take one of the ferry boats back when the tide is up. Penzance with its winding streets, shops, clubs, restaurants and harbour is a must as it is the jumping-off point for day trips to the Isles of Scilly as well as being the harbor. The South West Coast Path passing through Penzance winds its way along the clifftops towards Land’s End. On the way, stop off for a coffee and a rest at beautiful Lamorna Cove, explore the open air Minack Theatre and marvel at the cliffs as you approach Gwennap Head. A stunning walk for those seeking solitude, exercise and some of the UK’s best coastal scenery. Penzance is the perfect holiday base. Ideally placed for exploring this land of Celtic myth and legend and with enough to do and see in the immediate area to keep all the family occupied.
