Comfortable and with everything catered for. I really can’t fault it. Loved the view of the sea when sitting in the living room and decking area. Situated in Gorran Haven which has friendly cafes, overlooking the beach together with shops and a Fish and Chip takeaway with restaurant. When it is low tide you can walk round to Little Perhaver Beach or access it by steep steps. The coastal path is accessible from the village. The bungalow is very well situated to visit many local attractions such as The Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan.

Thank you so much for your lovely comments. • "This is a beautiful holiday home and very comfortable."

The deck provides lovely views down to Gorran Haven bay. The owner is extremely accommodating and welcomes feedback of any kind, and it is apparent that he acts on it. It’s worth knowing that it is hilly in Cornwall and the bungalow is at the top of the hill with the beach at the bottom. If you can’t manage hills, this may not be the place for you, otherwise faultless.

We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. Thank you for the positive feedback and we hope you will visit again soon. Regards Carol and Duncan. Property Owner

  • "I would not stay in this property again, unfortunately."

It was advertised as ‘detached’, but a whole house has been added on the side now, with a party wall adjoining the two bedrooms, and the ‘secluded garden’ now has the new house’s decking at the same height, with only a low fence in between, detracting from the privacy. Despite it not being used during my week there, I believe it is mis-selling to continue to mis-describe it, but the owner, and Sykes, do not seem to see that as a problem. During my stay, Brambles had not been provided with tea towels, a welcome pack of any sort, oven gloves, a litter bin in the bathroom, kitchen scrubbers, or pedal bin liners. Several items were dusty/dirty. When I complained to Sykes on my return home (earlier than planned, due to an allergic reaction to the cleaning materials and a mouldy smell in the main bedroom), they claimed my complaint was not valid as I hadn’t contacted them *during* my stay, or responded to the owner’s generic text message sent on the Tuesday – even though I had told the owner by phone on the Thursday before my break started that I wouldn’t have a phone with me during my stay, as I was using Brambles to have a meditation retreat (and therefore a break from phones/internet). Gorran Haven itself is lovely. This property was not. I will not be booking with Sykes again, after using them for over ten years.

We are sorry that our property did not meet your expectations. We pride ourselves on providing a high level of cleanliness and privacy, in fact several other guests have mentioned these points in their reviews. An annex has recently been added to the property and this is clearly stated on the Sykes website, but “Brambles” remains very private. A tea towel, kitchen scrubber and bin liners are always left for new guests and were on this occasion by our cleaner. We always give our guests ample opportunities to contact us if there are any issues (see previous reviews), so it is a pity you did not do so, as any problems could have been resolved quickly. Furthermore, you did advise us beforehand that you would take a mobile phone with you so that we could advise you when the property was ready, as you required an earlier check in than usual. We texted you when the property was ready, over 3 hours prior to the stated entry time, to oblige, to which you responded “Great, thank you.” Once again, we are sorry you did not enjoy your stay. If you wish to discuss further, please do not hesitate to contact us. Regards Carol and Duncan. Property Owner

  • "We had a super Christmas stay at Brambles."

The owners were friendly and responded to our questions (by email and text) quickly. They had set up a Christmas tree and lights in the cottage which was lovely. Key collection is easy, from a keysafe at the property. Beds (both the kingsize and the singles) were all comfortable. There were 3 adults in our party (no children) and the property was spacious enough to accomodate us. The kitchen is well appointed (no dishwasher though), the washing machine is situated in the garage. There was loads of worktop space for cooking the Christmas meal. Heating is a mix of storage heaters, dimplex wall heaters and underfloor heating in the bathroom plus there is a wood burner in the living room with enough logs to start you off but you would need to buy more for subsequent fires. The view from the sitting room through the patio doors is lovely and you can see the sea. Off road parking, which states is for one vehicle, but we fitted a medium size saloon and a small hatchback on the drive so neither was jutting out onto the lane outside. The rear garden is fully enclosed and there is a great elevated decking area accessed from the living room patio doors. Overall a great holiday experience!

The owner kindly let us know that we able to get into Brambles early & thoughtfully sent us a text at the end of the holiday wishing us a safe journey home. Overall, we had a great time & we are already missing the view of the sea from the comfort of the sofa. Highly recommend this place.

  • "The Brambles is a real gem of a cottage, with amazing views and plenty of space."

The kitchen is well stocked and we loved curling up on the sofas or sitting out on the decking and just enjoying the views. Being able to see bats flying across the garden and a visit from a pheasant were lovely surprises too. The owner was really friendly too and gave us a call the day before to check we had all the information we needed. Definitely good value for money and a good base for exploring the surrounding area; whether you’re looking for a beach holiday or something a bit different. Gorren Haven Beach is within walking distance with a great cafe and toilets nearby (and a little stream to clean sandy feet off at the end of the day) and there are doorstep walks along the coast line too.

  • "The cottage was immaculately clean and very comfortable."

The were special little touches like milk, tea, coffee, hot chocolate in the cupboard, plus a bottle of mulled wine and chocolates. We loved the decorated Christmas tree and the wood burning stove. Another good point was the detailed directions to the cottage, which was a little off the beaten track. It meant we avoided the narrow streets of Mevagissey.
