“Yes .. While the cottage was quaint & very cosy, with absolutely everything we needed for a week away from home, including a very generous & unexpected welcome package, it was filthy”

    .. ...

.. Just a few examples .. Cobwebs & spiders, some of them extremely large, everywhere .. Thick dust on most surfaces .. Dead flies on window sills .. Grime around the bathroom basin & in the beautiful roll-top bath .. Hair left in the shower enclosure .. Glasses, mugs & cutlery had to be washed before use .. While we would be likely to use Sykes Cottages again to book a holiday, unfortunately it would not be to Humble Cottage .. This is a shame as it really is a beautiful cottage in a fantastic location but let down by lack of cleanliness ..

The property

Nestled in the grounds of Ellenglaze Manor, a former farming estate near Holywell Bay, this very sweet little country cottage is a true home-from-home.

Beautifully presented with great attention to detail, charming knick knacks and soft neutral colours, this delightful property is just a short drive from the coast and Holywell Bay beach.

From the pretty cottage garden, step into the hub of the home – an inviting sitting room with wood burner, the perfect spot for warming up on a chilly evening.

The kitchen and breakfast room offer a very sociable space, thoughtfully decorated with matching furnishings and crockery.

Upstairs are two bedrooms, both with feature stone walls and pretty fabrics.

The spacious family bathroom is most elegant, with a freestanding roll-top bath and lots of little touches which create a feeling of luxury.

A tranquil raised sun deck provides a most agreeable outdoor space in which to enjoy an afternoon tea.

The ideal location for those seeking a mix of countryside and coast, Humble Cottage is just a mile from Holywell Bay with its beautiful sandy beach and fun-park.

The village of Cubert is within walking distance of the cottage; here you will find a convenience store, a Post Office, a café and a fish & chip shop.

Renowned for its excellent surfing conditions, the north Cornish coast has much to offer; if surfing isn't quite your cup of tea then why not enjoy the view from atop the coastal footpath, relax on the beach with a good book, or practice your aim at nearby Holywell Bay Golf Club.
