  • "Cottage was ideally located for the south west coast path."

And had a bus stop close by to get to penzance or St Ives. The cottage was comfortable and clean. The only down side was the TV reception as could only occasionally get the bbc channels. The pizza van on Wednesday at the campsite opposite was excellent.

  • "The cottage is a little small for4 adults in our opinion and there is not much outside space to relax in, just a bench with seating to dine on, looking at the listing it appears to be in a secluded spot not at the corner of a main road, it was like living next to a motorway opposite a camping park where motor homes were constantly on the move."

Although not the fault of the cottage a sink hole has appeared on the road which restricted access onto the main road and work was being constructed for the whole of our stay and I think this should be information given to future occupants. Not the best place to stay in St Just but nevertheless all in all without the inconvenience of the roadworks the town is easy accessible.

  • "We had a great time at the cottage, and would recommend it."

There were just a couple of things to highlight: firstly the stairs could have done with a banister on both sides. We are all in our 70s so one or two of us struggled a bit. Secondly the listing said something like ample car parking. There was only room for one car.

  • "Well maintained and equipped cottage."

Excellent location. Only minor issues were the outside washing line/ hanger was broken and unusable. Also the kitchen fridge only had a tiny freezer compartment which wasn’t great - suggest purchase of a small freezer or replace with a larger fridge/ freezer is needed?

  • "Beautiful cottage in a lovely setting."

Exceptional clean and well equipped, and a wonderful welcome gift of scones cream jam and biscuits greatly appreciated thank you. Bus stop super close and a day rider is only £5.00. St Just village is lovely with a great chip shop and pasty place and the pubs The queens arms (walking distance from the cottage) and The commercial in St Just excellent food and service but you do need to call a few days in advance too book. Thanks again for a lovely stay we are looking forward to returning

Cottage has everything for a great stay. Double bed could do with upgrade to be picky. TV Freeview didn't work but made do with iPlayer etc. Cream tea lovely touch. Will be back! ☺️

  • "Perfect base for our holiday."

Cottage was well equipped and everything that was needed. Welcome pack of milk & T&Cs also a nice bonus. I did wonder if being away from the main sights would be frustrating (driving etc) but overall it was a bonus - to relax away from the hustle & bustle at the end of a long day/evening. Great nights sleep in very comfortable beds. We would certainly return.

  • "Cottage is lovely and as described in listing."

Beds v comfy. The "welcome pack" consists of teabags and a pint of milk so depending on what you are used to this is lovely or disappointing

  • "We had a lovely comfortable stay at The Honeypot cottage - it’s just minutes away from the old mines which we didn’t know until we went for a walk along the coast path where we enjoyed the most breathtaking views and stunning sunsets."

Cottage is well located for Lands End, Cape Cornwall, The Minnack theatre and Sennen Cove which are all up to a 20 min drive away. There is ample room at the cottage, a smart TV and off street parking for 1 car which is a great find in Cornwall. Kitchen well stocked with some tea and coffee provided as well as a small milk, my only recommendation would be to bring your own basics like condiments and oil, tin foil etc. Washing up liquid and cloths were provided. All in all, the cottage was clean, comfortable, roomy, and we had a pleasant stay. Thank you!

As you are aware there were some major issues re the cleanliness of the property and also we had issues with Honey Bees which by the end of the holiday made us feel like prisoners in the property as we were unable to utilise the garden area

  • "Welcome pack very scant."

Were 3 dish washer tablets, washing up liquid, pan scrubber meant to be part of it? There were a few tea bags, a few instant coffee sachets, some milk and a packet of biscuits. Very sparse compared to what we have had before. No instructions for oven. Induction hob useless without some of the pans provided, which was difficult to navigate fir people not used to induction hob. No hanging space in main bedroom. These were the problems, but overall we liked the property and it was well equipped. Almost met expectations! But not as good as 2 previous rentals from you.

Thank you for staying at The Honeypot Cottage and taking the time to write a review. We apologise that on this occasion the cottage failed to meet your expectations. We take this seriously and are working hard to address the issues you have raised. We have put the oven and hob instruction leaflets back in the Cottage folder, and sorted through the saucepans provided, ensuring that they are compatible with the induction hob. We are working closely with our housekeeping team to ensure that the welcome pack is appropriate and sufficient for self catering guests at the Honeypot Cottage. Thank you once again. Property Owner

  • "Honeypot Cottage was a wonderful place to stay."

It was well equipped, clean and had a lovely feel to it. Lots of walks with fantastic views of the coastline two minutes away. Within easy reach of small coves to visit if that’s what you wanted to do. Whilst there was a mix up with the time we could get into the property ( it had been pushed back due to Covid cleaning and we hadn’t received any information informing us of this) the owner kindly pulled all the stops out for us to be able to get in at 4pm instead of 5pm. I would definitely recommend and use Sykes Cottages again.

About the location

ST JUST

Penzance 7.2 miles; St Ives 12.9 miles.

St Just is the nearest town to Land’s End and is situated approximately eight miles west of Penzance. The town itself is an ancient settlement that has a strong mining history and there are several monuments and prehistoric antiquities to visit including the Bronze Age settlement at Cape Cornwall. St Just is ideally located for visitors to explore the far west of Cornwall as it is situated on the edge of the moors and close to the beautiful north coast. In the centre of the town is Plain-an-Gwarry, a theatre used for miracle plays in medieval times, and in more recent times for the Lafrowda Festival.
