  • "What an amazing holiday home."

Lots of rooms for play and relaxation. Loads of toys and books for children ... and adults! The brio train set is second to none! We couldn’t believe how much there was and what an interesting collection …. I’ve never seen a train wash before! The large doll was a huge hit with my granddaughter ….. especially when we found all the different clothes for her! We loved the conservatory and spent most of our time there (when we were in!), especially in the evenings. We made good use of the local facilities – the shop, Thai restaurant, pub (both with incredible food) and the little lane, which went down a wooded hillside, under the railway bridge and to the river, which had a rope swing over it – that was great fun! The surrounding area of amazing picturesque fishing villages and rugged beaches were very special. We had such wonderful days out and each day was completely different! The Heritage gas range cooker was our challenge, especially when cooking a roast as there is only one main oven space. However it kept the kitchen beautifully warm and great for drying clothes!! I felt quite sad to say goodbye to Burrow House and all the adventures we went on!

Many thanks for your feedback and we are so glad you and your family enjoyed your Cornish holiday - we hope to be able to welcome you back again soon. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely week at Burrow House, and extra lucky with a heatwave for the first week in September !"

! House was perfect for ourselves for the whole week and children, partners, Grandaughter and grand dog for various days. perfect facilities, more than enough room for everyone and with a wonderful garden for that outside space. Ideally situated for travelling out and visiting other parts of the area. Just have to be aware of the very tight entrance to property, but just a minor thing in the grand scheme of things. We would highly recommend this for a wonderful family holiday.

We are so glad you found Burrow House to be a perfect place for your Cornish Holiday. As with many parts of Cornwall there are some narrow lanes around and a narrow drive to the property, however, there is more than enough room for larger cars and we have added some additional lighting to help with the drive at night. We look forward to welcoming you back again in the future. Property Owner

Great location and accommodation lovely with great beds, facilities and welcome gift. Games room a real bonus for the little ones, but found the access drive not ideal particularly when dark.

We are so glad you enjoyed your holiday at Burrow House - we have added some additional lighting around the drive to help with access at night. Hopefully we will be able to welcome you back again soon. Property Owner

  • "Loved the cottage and it suited our family as we were a group of 10."

Unfortunately we couldn’t all eat together as there were only 8 dining chairs. Also as a person who loves to cook I found the Aga cooker very inconvenient as it was totally out of my experience and the drive was so, so narrow for our vehicle . We never used the sitting room as the seating arrangement was no good for 10 therefore we sat in the conservatory in the evening.

We are so glad that you loved the cottage and found it suited your party. The dining room is set up for 8, however, there are an additional 4 chairs in the house so there is room to eat together and even have a couple of guests. We do love the conservatory in the summer evenings, and prefer the lounge with the log burner in the cooler months. Property Owner

  • "Interesting house, comfy beds and in a good location."

We felt photos of the property were misleading - two of the bedrooms had no storage and another had an unusable wardrobe due to a damp smell. The grass hadn’t been cut, the planters were overgrown and the barbecue was dirty. The difficulties of negotiating the entrance to a narrow drive should be highlighted more. We felt for the money we paid we expected a higher standard; we have booked several properties with you and have been happy with them but were disappointed with this one.

We were saddened by this feedback as we strive for the very best standards at Burrow House, we have not had any similar reviews to this before, and we wish you had contacted us during your stay to give us the opportunity to help ensure you had the best holiday possible. We are sorry you felt the bbq was dirty, rust does acculamate on the bbq over the season, especially with the recent wet weather - it is replaced yearly. The garden is attended every fortnight. There has been unseasonably wet weather and the camellias have just finished blooming, however, we would have happily had the gardener make an extra visit. We do feel that as a 5 bedroom property there is ample storage throughout the property for holiday guests. We have not been able to detect any damp in any of the wardrobes, but are sorry you felt that you could not use one of them. We are really pleased that you enjoyed the comfortable beds, we use luxury branded linens and strive for high standards throughout our property. We agree that it is a great location, and we hope you had a wonderful Cornish holiday. Property Owner

The kitchen was well equipped loved the dishwasher ( I dont have one at home) it was perfect.. It was a good base to explore the sourounding towns and beaches Par beach is lovely for the dogs the children loved it too with its small coves where we looked for creatures and pretty shells and everyone we met was friendly and welcomming. • "Eleven of us had a lovely stay at Burrow House."

The oldest of the five children was seven and they had a wonderful time with the toys and in the glorious garden. They also loved Polkerris beach, Cardinham Woods, Charlestown and Porth Pean beach. The Eden Project is close but more for adults. We struggled a bit with the Aga to be honest but did soon get the hang of it, although we failed miserably at cooking five pizzas in it... ;-) The king/twin and bee bed were too soft for other adults but the meadow bed was very comfy for my husband and I. The setting is very quiet and convenient for a local shop, fish and chips and the New Inn. A couple of the children also did Parkrun at Par which is an easy walk away. All in all, I would definitely recommend it although the drive access, as mentioned before, is horrendous!! You have to be there to see how awkward it is and my husband did scrape one of the wheels on our car getting past the little white wall. It would be a lot easier without the little white wall...... ;-)

  • "We stayed for a week in March, 3 adults and 1 dog."

We loved having the space. The house is lovely. It has a proper old feel to it, which is very homely, and the heating system is fabulous; you won't get cold. We made good use of the kitchen, dining room, living room, play room and boot room, however I think our favourite was the conservatory. It was lovely to sit in there with the door open, listen to the birds sing and look at the lush garden. The garden is gorgeous. I imagine how lovely it would be to spend time in it during the warmer months. A word of caution to new visitors, when you arrive, be prepared for the turning into Burrow House to be very narrow. It's easily navigated but a surprise if you don't know. Also, there were ants in the kitchen, dining room and conservatory, a surprise for March, but perhaps it's because the heating system in the house is so good. We gave them a good spray and advised the owners.

The ants were a surprise but have been dealt with! We are so glad you enjoyed your holiday and were able to enjoy the space, and we hope to welcome you back again soon. Property Owner

The cottage was very cosy and comfortable with nothing wanting. The beds were very comfortable and we appreciated the quality of the bed linen. A very well equipped holiday home. Only one very small “gripe”….. We’re not very “tech savvy” and found having to go through “chrome cast” to view TV programmes quite frustrating. Highly recommend The Catch down the road…. Fantastic “chippy tea” one night followed by an exceptional Thai meal the next. Happy campers all round.

  • "Lots of good things about this holiday home eg: 1."

Great location for visiting the Eden project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan. 2. Reasonably well equipped throughout. 3. Private, fenced garden and very pleasant garden room, though with no views. Not such good things: 1. The entrance drive to arrive at the off road parking is very, very narrow with stone walls at each side. Anyone with a larger than average vehicle would have trouble getting in and out. It's difficult to enter and exit from the road round a sharp bend with poor visibility. We we're surprised that no warning is given about this is made in the information about the house. 2. One of the double beds has a sagging mattress and the dining chairs are very uncomfortable. 3. The instructions given about the Cornish 'Aga' in the information sheets are not very clear about which little button to press to keep it going when it goes off on the timer.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your stay. Many of the roads and driveways in Cornwall are narrow, however, we do drive a larger car and there is plenty of room up the drive for a Land Rover. There is a mirror at the bottom of the driveway to assist with entrance and exit. We will look into the mattress and the instructions for operating the heritage cooker Property Owner

We took ours away with us. Other than that the house and village shops were excellant.

Update: As of 2022 we have Freeview in addition to the Chromecast and DVDs. Many thanks for your feedback and we are sorry that in a couple of areas the property did not meet your expectations. The property isn’t advertised as having freeview available, and we have found that most of our guests were more interested in being able to use their apps through the chromecast device and to make use of the large collection of DVDs - the TV is stored in the cupboard when not in use, but is on a bracket to swing into the room when in use. There should not have been any waste left at the property when you arrived and we are speaking to the management company to establish what happened on this occasion and to ensure that it does not happen again. The local pub is just a few mins walk down the hill (up hill on way home) and was extremely welcoming to our party of 8 (and 2 dogs). We all thoroughly enjoyed our Sunday Roast lunch there.
