  • "The house was exactly as advertised, it was warm , comfy and a joy to stay there."

the only issues were very minor, not sure where to put general rubbish , recycle bins too small , no wooden chopping board in the kitchen and the 3 radiators in the very top rooms didnt work , although it wasnt cold and there were separate electric heaters there if needed .all the points noted are very minor and would not stop us from giving it a 5 star rating and we would definitely stay again.

  • "Very clean and well equipped, fake grass bit of a disappointment and slightly disconcerting when people from the other part of the cottage entered the joint hall leading to garden."

Beds really comfy and nice touch of an environmentally friendly welcome pack. Hope to come back

  • "The house its as shown on the photos and description pretty accurate, a part of the top shower room is just a shower, so toilet is on the floor underneath and the garden which seems to be shared with the property next door."

Maybe owner can confirm that. We didn't use at this time as the weather didn't allow us, unfortunately. We had a very nice welcome treat, left by the owners and a very good stay, we also enjoyed the area and villages around. All the appliances are very good and the house is well equipped. Some extras are also provided such as some toilet paper, washing up liquid, salt, pepper, tea. On the top room, the ceiling lights weren't working but the lamp worked well. We were very pleased with the property, cleanness and location. Thanks for all.

Thank you so much for taking to time to share you feedback. We can confirm the garden at the property is not shared it is privately owned by the property owner. We are happy you had a good stay and hopefully see you back one day. Property Owner

  • "The property, although ultimately serving us well, had many problems."

We informed the local agent who was able to supply a handy lady who was able to resolve some of the problems. However, others will need expert maintenance. The issues were: 1) The hot water system boiled over leaking boiling water into the kitchen. Clearly the tank thermostat was faulty. 2) The bathroom door couldn't be closed properly: the bottom needed shaving. 3) The main oven of the cooker incinerated our roast dinner: another thermostat issue? 4) The lighting in the lounge was poor: none of the table lamps had working bulbs and the three wall lights were comparatively dim. 5) Spotlight bulbs in one bedroom needed replacing and the power socket wasn't secured to the wall properly. 6) Three drinking glasses in the kitchen were chipped and dangerous. 7) The downstairs toilet door had no lock. 8) There were no general instructions explaining how to operate kitchen appliances or the routine of rubbish and recycling collection. 9) The dishwasher didn't work.

Thanks you for spending some time to fill in and provide us with your feedback. We do appreciate all comments provided. We are glad that the cottage was enjoyed by your family and otherwise met all your requirements. In response to some of the points you have raised I can confirm that; The Hot water system has been repaired and will not be an issue moving forward. We responded by sending someone out to the property to have this fixed as soon as the issue was reported. The bathroom door has never been an issue reported to us previously. As soon as we knew about the problem, again we fixed this immediately. The oven is brand new and very powerful. Instructions are provided in the kitchen drawer. All of the instructions for the property are stored in a file in the dresser. The Tiffany wall lights are low level lighting and the free standing lamps have switches behind the sofa. In future we will leave the switch sockets on for all guests. The dishwasher has been tested and is working fine. Unfortunately no mobile contact number was provided by you when making this booking so we could not speak with you during your stay. We did send out the property manager out twice to ensure issues were dealt with in a timely manner, and also on your last day as a courtesy measure to speak with you. We do take all feedback on board and look to rectify any problems if that is what is required. Property Owner

Very well located in the village, great local pub food, village stores and friendly locals.

  • "- suggest a note in the house informing collection day of bins."

    - enjoyed our stay at the house. -parking is a problem, especially when Gas workmen are digging holes in the road around the house, although the workmen were extremely helpful. If you have a 4x4 there is no way you can park outside the garage as the road is too narrow.

Thank you for your feedback, please accept our apologies if you thought that parking was a problem, unfortunately at the back of the property where the garage is we do have to keep clear for the emergency vehicles, however there is ample parking for off road vehicles and all types of cars at the side of the property. There is also additional parking outside the brown wooden gates at the front end of the property. Kind Regards. Property Owner

  • "We absolutely loved the cottage."

It had everything you might need and the games room was fun for all of us! It was tricky to play pool with the cues as there wasn't the space, it's a converted space so obviously they had to work with what they had so understandable. But this was a small issue and the only thing I have to say other than we loved staying here would definitely go back. Thankyou

So pleased you enjoyed your stay in our cotrage and the quintessential cornish / english village of Tywardreath. So good to here you particularly enjoyed the games room when ever the weather isnt suitable we wanted an option for all to enjoy while indoors .Truly delighted to welcome you back and thanks again for the feedback Property Owner

  • "Chapel cottage was a nice place to stay and not far from a good pub (New inn) local shop and the beach."

I would have liked a welcome pack to explain things like local walks and how to use various things like the TV. The games room wasn’t as big as the pictures made out - but I would stay here again.

  • "Nice cottage - slightly odd location but close to a very good pub and village shop and a great butchers."

Easy walk to beach and close to Polkerris and Fowey. Some electrical issues in the house - lights over dining table do t work and there was a major electrical trip out which caused some issues with the hot water. Told the plumber / electrician would come out Sunday - plumber turned up on Thursday! However immersion heater worked for the water. Overall ok but due to exact location wouldn’t stay again.

  • "When we arrived there was a fault with the electrics a light kept tripping."

The main toilet the flush was broken and the on the top floor the shower did not work which then made it an issue every morning with everyone trying to get ready. We reported it to the maintenance company Dianond and all they said was that they are aware of the problems and have a nice holiday so just palmed us off. Really not happy as we paid for these facilities and did not get them and don’t expect to stay in a holiday home with problems supposed to be a relaxing break away.

Thank you for your feedback. I have followed this up with Diamond and was pleased to see they did respond immediately sent someone the same day. It was an itermittent fault and this problem is now resolved. I am sorry for the inconvenience. Property Owner

  • "The Cottage was a home away from home."

Because of a couple of storms, we had to stay in a couple of days, but it did not matter as there was enough to keep us all very busy: darts, pool, air hockey! The wifi was surprisingly good: I could have zoom calls whilst the children were on an amazon binge. Top comfort and great amenities, would highly recommend!

  • "The cottage was lovely; very clean and well equipped."

The sitting room is bigger than it looked on the photos which was a pleasant surprise. The games room was a huge hit with the whole family. The garden is very small with artificial grass but with the beautiful countryside and beaches near by, this didn’t matter. We arrived very late and it was great to find milk, tea bags, fresh coffee, scones jam and clotted cream all left for us.

The pretty, historic Cornish village of Tywardreath, meaning ‘The House on the Strand’, lies in the heart of Daphne du Maurier country and features in her book of the same name. St Andrew’s, the village church, is said to have the best peal of bells in the area, while the village has a lively community, centred round its excellent pubs and range of shops. There are several safe, sandy beaches close to the village, with a variety of watersports and leisure activities available. Par, a small, china clay port with a dog friendly sandy beach is a fifteen minute walk from the village or 5 minutes in the car, home to a main line railway station. Polkerris Beach, a 30 minute walk or a 5 minute drive away, has a beachside restaurant, pub and watersports centre. The attractive waterside village of Fowey is just three miles away, from where there are some dramatic cliff walks to Gribbin Head, passing through much of du Maurier’s familiar landscape. There are many family attractions in the area, including Mevagissey and Charlestown harbours, the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan. Tywardreath is a village that will appeal to families and those keen to explore the rich heritage and gorgeous coastline of South Cornwall.
