“Some of the guest info provided needed updating.”
The directions did not take into account recent road changes in Bodmin. Restaurant serving times were incorrect. There was no indoor play room as advertised.
The directions did not take into account recent road changes in Bodmin. Restaurant serving times were incorrect. There was no indoor play room as advertised. Lodge as described and well equipped. Sofas a little tired and saggy. DVD player had an intermittent fault.
“We wrote it all in the guest book but basically it's a great location but the lodge itself clearly needs a proper update.”
Ie settee tired and gone curtains hanging off rails. Bed springs not a king size just 2 singles pushed together. Cobwebs in rooms . Bins not collected all week from previous occupiers. Broken dishwasher tray clock not working. We had to go and buy a battery. Stains on carpet in bedroom and stains on curtains. General feeling of not being clean
“The inside of Finns Lodge was very comfortable.”
However we were very disappointed with the outside, the decking area and the wooden furniture badly need re-varnishing and a good sweep. The umbrella was rusty. The whole outside of the cottage needs to be swept - patio doors were covered in cobwebs and the windows need a good clean.
“The lodge was in a wonderful location, set in the grounds of a lovely old country house, now a luxury hotel, spa and restaurant, with great views too St Austell bay.”
Great food in the hotel restaurant but good facilities in the lodge for cooking your own meals It will be high on our list for a visit in the future. The Eden Project, Fowey and Padstow make a great day out. Thanks to Sykes and the lovely friendly people who run the hotel. John and Pam.
“Fantastic lodge to stay in with our 18 month old.”
Cream tea gift was lovely welcoming touch. Brilliant to have pool, small gym, giant rabbit run and woodland play area on site. Only critique is that there was no indoor play area as advertised, which had been great on the showery moments. Also, hotel could benefit from some standard play area equipment e.g a swing/ little slide. Otherwise fantastic stay.
“The booking should come with the number of the chalet, as it has no name outside and the staff at the hotel did, therefore, not know which one we had booked.”
Although reasonably well equipped, many of the utensils and much of the furniture is looking worn and 'tired'. There are multiple stains and the carpets and furniture covers. Neither is there very much cutlery, and crockery sets are incomplete because of previous breakages. Everything was very clean and the location of the chalet is excellent for exploring south Cornwall.

Whether you enjoy getting out on the water, playing golf or finding out more about the history of the area, you are sure to find something to suit the whole family. Harbour cruises leave the Town Quay regularly in season giving you a superb view of the town, but for the more adventurous, rent your own self-drive boat, kayak or paddle board and explore the waters for yourselves! The town is steeped in history, so why not join a guided tour of either Fowey or Polruan? You can even join an owl experience, play golf, go horse riding or pursue your artistic talents with pottery or painting courses. There is the aquarium, museum and St Catherine's Castle, as well as Readymoney Cove, all waiting to be explored. If you get peckish, or fancy something thirst quenching along the way, there is a plethora of pubs, inns, cafes and restaurants to choose. Whenever you plan to visit, keep a look out for the festivals, fairs, markets and theatre performances on throughout the year.
