The details advised us that there were low ceilings but we feel that it should also be noted that there are two steps coming out of two of the bedrooms onto the stairs (which are quite steep) - you need to be very careful getting to the bathroom in the night while half asleep! The room with the double bed has a very low door & the mismatched furniture & tatty wall mirror made it feel less than homely. The wardrobe is a curtain on a rail. While adequate for purpose it looked like it had seen better days. The twin bedroom has the same "wardrobe" & two twin beds which are narrower than the norm & not comfortable for an adult. We feel this should be noted. The single bedroom is overlooked by next doors garden which could be a privacy issue as no nets. The wall lighting in here is poor. The bedside lamp cannot be left plugged in as the only switch we found was on the opposite wall meaning the flex trailed across the door - less than ideal! On a more positive note, the rooms were clean & the bed linen spotless - although we have never been asked to strip the beds on leaving before! The two bathrooms were both spacious & clean. On the whole the kitchen was adequate but lacking a kitchen knife & the cafetiere had not been emptied out & cleaned. The dining/living room area had room for improvement décor & comfort wise. The wooden dining chairs definitely need cushions. The "living" area looks totally uninviting, not a place we wanted to relax in though the chairs were more comfortable than they looked. The "games" room was fine comfort wise but the TV had a mind of its own. More often than not there was no signal at all & sometimes it was okay until you changed channel then it lost everything. I would suggest if you need evening entertainment take some DVDs as you can't rely on the TV. The wi-fi signal, however was good. Outside, the back garden is stepped & steep. The front has parking for two cars though it would be tight for two larger cars. It's only fair to point out that we had to book over a certain Bank Holiday (due to a family event) & had we paid a "standard" rate rather than an inflated Bank Holiday price of an extra £200ish, we might feel less disgruntled. As it was, this cottage was a disappointment in comfort, décor, facilities & certainly in value for money. This is only our opinion though & reading the visitors book it would seem we are in the minority.

The property

Perfectly located for touring one of the most beautiful and desirable areas of Cornwall, this quirky 200 year old terraced fisherman’s cottage is situated in a quiet road in the old market town of Wadebridge. With the town also being the centre point of the ever popular Camel trail and the glorious beaches of Polzeath, Rock and Padstow all being within a short drive, there will always be so much to do here with something for everyone. There is off street parking for 2 cars in front of the cottage.

Through the front door, to your left you will find a cosy sitting-room and straight ahead you have a living/dining area furnished with arm chairs and still fitted with the original bread oven and with an open fire, adding to the character and ideal for the cooler evenings.

At the back of this room there is a dining table and through a door on your left of the dining area you will find the well equipped kitchen which leads out to a patio with a table and chairs.

Steps leading up from this patio take you to the terraced garden, with a washing line on the top terrace.

Up the original stairs, to your left and right you have the twin and double bedrooms.

At the back of the cottage there is a single bedroom a family bathroom and a separate shower room.

As is typical of cottages of this age, Willow Cottage features beams, low ceilings and there are 2 additional steps from the double bedrooms up to the bathroom area.

The doorways into one of the bedrooms has an angled lintel, following the line of the ceiling.

A short walk will take you into Wadebridge with an excellent choice of cafes, restaurants and pubs as well as one of Cornwall's favourite pasty shops. The town is also the hub for the Camel trail.

Cycle hire is available so you have the opportunity to enjoy spectacular scenery whilst winding alongside the estuary to Padstow or, for the more adventurous cyclists, up into the hills of Bodmin Moor to Blisland where an excellent moorland pub will provide refreshment before the journey home.
