  • "Fantastic Dog Friendly Farmhouse."

We have just returned from Lower West Curry Farmhouse, and liked it so much we booked a return visit on the way home! The owners Ian and Monica are very friendly and welcoming, not just to us humans but to our 4 dogs too. It is so lovely to find a place that doesn’t just allow dogs, but really welcomes them. We appreciated the goodies left in the farmhouse, everything needed to make a cream tea, including instruction on how to make it the Cornish way, a lovely home baked loaf of bread, butter, tea coffee sugar and a very nice bottle of wine, thank you very much. The farmhouse is warm and cosy but deceptively spacious with everything you need for a home from home holiday. The furniture and furnishings are all very comfortable and of good quality and the beds are probably the most comfortable we have ever had away from home. The hot water was plentiful, a great plus. The views from this beautiful farmhouse are stunning, and there are many species of birds visiting the feeder in the garden. It was lovely to have a safe secure garden for our dogs, and to still be able to enjoy the view. All in all, there is nothing not to like about Lower West Curry Farmhouse. We and our dogs are looking forward to returning in a few weeks time. We are so pleased that we found this tranquil gem deep in the Cornish countryside.

Thank you for your lovely comments, Ian and I are pleased you enjoyed your stay with us. It was lovely meeting you all and the puppies. We look forward to seeing you again in a couple of weeks. Property Owner

  • "We had a fantastic stay in this farm house."

Our dogs (5 of them) loved exploring Cornwall and so did us Humans despite the rainy weather. The cottage was both warm and comfortable and had absolutely everything we could need. We all especially loved watching the many birds (including woodpeckers) on the bird feeders in the garden. Monica and Ian were perfect hosts. The welcome gifts were great and we also enjoyed the farm tour (which included lamb cuddles). Thank you so much for having us, some of us have already booked again (into the cottage next door) just hours after arriving home!

Julie and the family, it was a pleasure having you staying with us … sorry if i talked too much ! Ian enjoyed showing you around the farm, but we do need the lamb back ! Looking forward to welcoming you back xxx Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely stay here and the cottage was very accommodating for our 6 dogs."

We had a few issues with the electric keep tripping but monica or Ian were on hand to sort this. Also we did think it may be beneficial if there was a stair gate at the top of the stairs too as it is a very sudden drop out the bathroom especially if there you had small children like we did. Overall amazing holiday over chirstmas with the pooches!

Martha, Thank you for your feedback. We have discovered an issue with the brand New kitchen fan, Installed prior to your arrival.,thank you for advising us. Monica & Ian made us feel welcome and were helpful in every way. The home made scones were delicious along with the jam & cream and the welcome items. The Grand Children were very taken with the farm tour and seeing the farm cats, ducks and chickens. The owls were busy in the trees at night, so lovely to hear them. Thankyou again for a wonderful time, even the weather was kind to us. Would recommend, hopefully will be back again.

The Owner gave us an interesting tour ,explaining about the animals and all the ongoing hard work that is involved. The Farm House was cosy and pleasant, beautiful views . Beds were so comfortable and we were left a well stocked kitchen, with a lovely surprise of homemade scones with delicious cream and jam. the icing on the cake, was the little white ducks that trotted passed the kitchen window most mornings. A great spot for visiting Bude, Port Isaac and Padstow. All in all, I would recommend this property if you drive.

It was lovely meeting you and all puppies. We hope to see you soon. There is a regular bus service from the end of the lane, but agree totally having your own transport does help as we are rural. Property Owner

  • "We have recently returned from a week at the farmhouse."

Lovely hosts and some very welcome treats. The beds were really comfy and the linen and towels good quality. The garden was idea for the dogs to play in and despite the poor weather, the veranda provided cover. The kitchen was well stocked and enabled us to make some meals in and the dining room was lovely for family meals. Like you’d expect with an old house the floorboards creaked and my husband managed to bang his head several times where as I learned to duck! One of the dogs and the baby were unsettled the first night and we were conscious of the neighbours in the cottage attached but when we apologised they reassured us they didn’t hear a thing! Beautifully remote but an easy drive for days out, Ian and Monica checked in on us regularly when passing and keen to ensure we were warm enough and everything was ok. They work incredibly hard and clearly had perfected the little touches. If you’re travelling with a baby you will need to take a travel cot and highchair but that’s not a big ask. Thank you once again hope to return in the future

  • "Where do I start!"

This was our first visit to Cornwall and what an incredible experience it was. Monica and Ian are the most incredible human beings (and hosts). Nothing was too much trouble and they always went above and beyond. Staying on the farm was an experience my daughters, us and our doggos will never forget and seeing how much Monica and Ian care so deeply about their animals was so heart warming. Ian gave us an amazing tour of the farm, meeting cows, ducks, geese, pigs (and piglets), sheep (and lambs), kittens, and birds. My daughters enjoyed every moment and learnt so much. And thank you to the lovely Monica for giving our old lab the best holiday ever. Everything you could need is provided in the farm house, literally everything has been so carefully thought about and the views are outstanding. The farmhouse is well positioned for exploring, just a few things we explored during our week was horse riding on dartmoor (and then walked in dartmoor on one of the very beautiful tracks, the lost gardens, summerleaze beach, Bude Town Centre and then a lovely hike with incredible views over the coves near Boscastle. If you are after a relaxed, calm, active and beautiful holiday this is the full package offeri g this and more. P.s. the kitchen is beautiful and the lovely country cutlery sets - I have even upgraded our sets at home to be more 'country'

Thank you so much for your kind words. It was a pleasure meeting you all and we hope you will return. You were perfect guests and a delight to have on the farm. Even offering to help when you saw we were busy. Your Daughters were so polite and caring, you should be so proud as parents. ❤️ Property Owner

Clean and tidy. Beds comfortable (one of the most important factors to us!). Very nice welcome gifts left by the owners! The only negative was, as this is a dog friendly cottage, the lack of walks for the dogs. There was only the option of walking down the lane to the main road and back - about half a mile in total. Other than that the dogs had to be transported by car to another location.

Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate the only walking area is a short lane. As we are livestock farmers it is not safe for you or our animals to have other people and other dogs walking freely in the fields. We do have a couple of local walks nearby which as you say require a short drive, not to mention miles of coastal footpaths, reservoirs, moors to explore. I am glad you found th e bed comfortable and enjoyed your stay with us. Property Owner

There was a large fenced garden, we took two dogs so plenty of room for them. Owners very friendly but equally left you alone. Scones on arrival along with essentials such as bread, milk, tea & coffee were also very welcome. Situation is good ideal location to explore Devon and Cornwall, the coast is stunning. There is a car charging point for your use for a nominal, which was great and very handy. Only reason not 5 stars is a stair gate had to be fitted during our stay for another family staying in the property after us which did impact on us and the check out time was a little early at 9am usually 10am at other cottages we stay at, but we would return . One last thing … as it comfortably sleeps 8 adults, which was our party, another TV to spread out to would be a bonus!

Dear Caroline, Thank you for your lovely feedback. I am sorry we had to install the stair gate during your stay. As the property is very old, it needed to be handmade and hand fitted. I hope you will return, it was lovely meeting you all. Ian and Monica x Property Owner

The cottage was super clean, comfy and cosy and had everything we needed. Although it’s on a working farm, it’s lovely and quiet which meant we had great sleeps! The fish pie on our arrival was absolutely delicious and the cream teas were a real treat. All the little extras provided such as eggs, fresh bread & wine, were the cherry on the cake for our stay here. And Dennis (our camper) even had its own sheltered accommodation, regularly patrolled by the local 3 feathered friends. We were able to take all of our dogs who enjoyed the stay as much as we did. A lovely touch was the welcome items such as milk, butter, bread , tea and coffee as well as a bottle of wine and cream tea with home made scones for all the guests! The bedding was crisp and clean and the towels large and fluffy. A couple of negatives, the knives for cooking were blunt and the pans are a nightmare to clean after cooking as they are not non stick. We also had a couple of chilly nights and when we asked for logs we were charged £5 for approx 5 Small logs! Slightly steep when we could have switched on the heating at a greater expense! Also the men in my household are 6ft and over and there are a lot of low beams and low door frames so we have left with a few bumped heads! The location was great for visiting our favourite bay in Trebarwith and local sites such as port Isaac and Bude on one side of the peninsula and Fowey, Polperro on the other. It is a working farm so we were woken by ducks and geese every morning and there are four lovely fat pigs grunting at the bottom of the garden . The vista from the garden is incredible! The boiler kept blowing out so there were a few mid shower cold bursts that needed the boiler resetting before hot water returned! The little things inside like the ducks, games, bath toys etc. were a wonderful. For me being a cornish person living abroad and coming back, the highlight was in the kitchen. Nothing better than scones with clotted cream and jam that were awaiting for us. We will definitely be coming back and can't wait already. Thank you so much ❤❤

On entering you know immediately it’s spotlessly clean and furnished to a very high standard with lovely country themed furnishings, excellent kitchen with everything you would need and lovely touch to find freshly baked bread, homemade scones, jam and clotted cream! Loved all the Wrendale mugs! Super comfy beds, lovely spacious bathroom and large downstairs shower. Enclosed garden for the dogs with lovely views of the surrounding countryside. Ian and Monica made us feel very welcome and even though they were extremely busy lambing found time to give us a tour of the farm and show us all the animals. Would thoroughly recommend and will definitely book again.

  • "Oh my! We don't know where to start in when giving feedback on this beautiful farmhouse."

From the moment we opened the front door we felt welcomed. The warmth shown to us by both Monica and Ian emanated throughout the house. It was the small things, like the delicious cream tea with homemade scones awaiting us, the tea, coffee, sugar, milk, butter and the french (yummy) bottle of wine. The freshly laid chicken eggs were so delicious and delivered by Monica whenever we asked for them. Our two dogs came with us. Ian and Monica catered for them with their own treats and their own beach towels for when we arrived home from the beach! This is something we haven't really experienced before. The beds were amazingly comfortable with lovely, spotlessly clean bedding - for me, a real must! And the towels were thick and warming. Ian did a brilliant job showing us around the farm and introducing us to their animals - all loved and cared for! Monica was always on site ready to help in any way. We can't recommend this farmhouse enough! So much so we have already booked for next April! Thankyou Monica and Ian. See you next year!

We particularly appreciated the host of goodies which were provided by them. Home made scones, clotted cream, jam, the list goes on and on. An invitation to look over the farm and see the animals was taken up and their enthusiasm and care was obvious. There were no children in our party but we were enchanted and I’m sure anybody would enjoy this aspect of their visit. A couple of other things, the view from the patio is lovely and the roses and flowers all around added to the charming atmosphere. Friends who live locally visited and they said “ you look as though you belong here” and that is just what we thought too.

Very nice and cosy rooms as well as the living room and the dining room, undoubtedly the best are the views from the large garden that emulate a picture of Van Gogh. Although much better are the landlords, Ian and Monica, that they go out of their way to make everything more enjoyable, even they gave us a tour throught their farm, always with a smile on their face. We only have been there for three days but we are looking forwards to go for longer. It is the perfect place to disconnect from the routine and find your self back with nature. Sincerelly, 100% recomended!
