  • "We had a glorious week away!"

The house was brilliant. We will definitely be coming back. A few points that I feel need liking at- 1. Paint on floor came away very easily and we were all covered. 2. A blind needed in kids room to cover glass. It was very bright . Such a lovely stay! Thank you for the welcome gift and the milk was much appreciated!!! Honestly we love it !

  • "We really enjoyed our stay at 3 Gables."

There were lots of lovely touches, fresh flowers, milk in the fridge and the bottle of Prosecco and box of chocolates were particularly appreciated. The property was very clean. We were lucky with the weather so we able to enjoy the outside space and views across the fields. The location was perfect for us being just a few minutes walk from the beautiful bays and coastal walks. A couple of points to mention, there are 2 steep steps down into both bathrooms which on opening the door were unexpected so and a “ mind the steps “ notice on the doors would be useful. Also the washing machine and dishwasher are located outside up a couple of steps at the back of the garage. We were lucky with the weather but I won’t have wanted to try carrying dirty crockery outside in the rain. And whilst a dishwasher may not be essential it’s very useful especially when on holiday. Perhaps the location should be mentioned in the property description. We very much enjoyed our stay and would recommend to couples wanting to take advantage of the beautiful coastline. • "Good points: - Location very good - Clean - Good parking - Good views and outside space Bad points: - The dishwasher was outside at the back of the garage, completely impractical."

How can you safely carry dirty dishes outside, up steps to the garage to the dishwasher? - The property was freezing when we arrived and it took us some time to locate the thermostat for the radiator by the patio doors. Radiators on a ceiling seem completely impractical, as heat rises, hence it took an awful amount of time to get the downstairs warm. The electric fire was useless as it kicked in, but then turned itself off after a short period of time. - The steps into both bathrooms are very steep and dangerous. This property is not suitable for anyone with mobility problems. - The glass panel in the wall to the second bedroom was not safety glass and would be dangerous for any active child - Lots of cables to sockets all over the place and could be considered dangerous - The double bed was very uncomfortable We made the best of this property, but we definitely would not return.

Dear Beverly, We’re really sorry to hear that you didn’t enjoy your stay at Three Gables. This feedback feels quite out of the blue, considering you didn’t mention any of this during your stay. Three Gables is a completely unique house. Which means it has some quirks. But we find that adds to its charm. And we love it for that reason. Really sorry you didn’t. Just wanted to answer a few of the points you raised: We provide a dishwasher for people to use if they so wish. We believe it’s not an ‘essential’ item, so most people don’t mind that it’s in the utility room, as it means they have everything they need to hand when they need it. We generally make sure they are switched on a day before arrival. Apologies if this wasn’t the case. The rads on the ceiling are infrared and heat the space but they do need to be on for 12 hours to be effective. We also have a big electric radiator on the wall, did you see this? As I’m sure you can appreciate, we can’t leave the heating on constantly during an energy crisis. So a little understanding here would have been appreciated. Apologies the fire wasn’t working properly. And thanks for pointing this out. We will make sure this is checked and replaced if necessary. Sorry if you had an issue with the single step leading down to the bathroom. We don’t believe this is a hazard. But yes, people with mobility issues might have a problem here so thank you for pointing that out. Being a house, there’s also stairs, so that’s also something for anyone reading this to consider too. The glass panel in the bedroom IS safety glass, which also has a protective film over it. Giving double protection and also privacy. So hopefully that will ease your mind. I’m sorry you didn’t like the bed. The mattress is pocket sprung. Maybe this type of mattress is unsuitable for you. We always sleep very well on it. Regards Chris Property Owner

  • "We had a great week in Porth and loved everything about this place."

We booked it because we enjoy our coastal walks and Three Gables is ideally situated – just a couple of minute’s walk from the coastal path! What made the week even nicer is that the cottage is ideal in every way and the owners have thought about absolutely everything to make our stay perfect : from getting in touch before our arrival date with clear instructions on how to find the place / where to park etc, to a lovely touch on arrival (thank you for the delicious scones and cream tea!). The cottage itself is great and I must also add that it is the cleanest one we ever stayed in : it was fantastic to arrive and be able to go straight for a walk to the local beach without having to worry about anything. I also think it is good to mention that, whilst the cottage is ideal for coastal walks, it would also be perfect for couple with children. The kids would definitely have fun in the cottage (spare room aimed at children; lots of entertainment such as DVD etc suitable for them) and the nearest beach is down the road. My only regret is that we were only staying for a week, as there is so much to do and see in the area. Thank you very much to the owners for letting us their great property: you feel straight away at home at Three Gables and can’t wait for our next stay in Cornwall. Karine and Nigel
