We arrived and were greeted by the owner Francoise who showed us around the cottage, there was a beautiful table displayed with wine chocolates and pumpkins for the children to carve (being Halloween) it was so thoughtful of the owner Francoise. We had everything we needed the house was cosy and clean with warm furnishing and touches. Francoise showed us around the farm and explained the workings of it and all of their beautiful cattle. We loved this.We also had a quad bike ride with Peter the farmer and

  • "The accommodation was clean and tidy dated but comfortable."

The location epitomised rural country life including some run down farm buildings attached the property. It was beautifully quiet with no traffic noise and there was a handy modern mini supermarket with a coffee shop attached within a 30 minute appx. pleasant walk. The farm owners have their separate entrance round the back and the wife is very friendly and helpful. There is ample off the road parking and there is a garden field with a football net and ball to practice kicking into. The location offers plenty of interesting places to visit and we very much enjoyed our stay including the box of chocolates and bottle of wine which was on the table on arrival.

  • "Lovely relaxing location which makes a great base to explore the northern cornwall region."

Some excellent local pubs offer good food and a relaxing drink. Good tea rooms are great targets for a day out or stop offs on the extensive network of walks available. The costal path in this area really is stunning and a must do. The lovely hosts here make you feel really welcome and are happy to advise on any needs aswell as show you the working farm location.

  • "We travelled on 11th July, and we are a family of 6, 2 adults and 4 children aged 11,7 and twins aged 4."

We had a fabulous week at Shears! Francoise was on hand to welcome us and throughout the week for anything we needed. Our children loved the large garden, and it was such a joy to sit with a glass of wine watching the children play after a day exploring. The scenery is beautiful. The drive to the nearest beach is around 15 minutes down country lanes, we ended up going to Rosies at Crooklets Beach most evenings on our way home from our days out for the children to body board and get drinks and ice cream - the food here was also really good! We watched the sunset at Sandymouth Beach which is the closest beach to the house, down a cobbled path but worth it! We ventured out everyday to various places, the house is a really great base. We spent most of our time outside but there is ample space indoors. We cooked most evenings in the well equipped kitchen. We found the addition of the dishwasher and washing machine to be really nice touches and helped give the ‘holiday’ feel - no washing up! The rooms are light and airy and very comfortable. We loved our stay!

About the location

KILKHAMPTON

Bude 4 miles.

Kilkhampton is an historic Cornish village, 4 miles from the popular Victorian seaside resort of Bude, one of Cornwall’s premier holiday locations. With its old church, village shops and atmospheric village pubs, Kilkhampton is a lovely place to relax after a hard day exploring the stunning beaches and spectacular coastal scenery for which the area is famous. Bude’s beaches attract surfers from all over the country and when conditions are right you’d be hard pushed to find better surf. When the tide is out, miles of golden sand and hundreds of rock pools keep visitors occupied for hours. The South West Coast Path, and many other rights-of-way winding over the clifftops and through lush green fields looking out over the sea, make this area a haven for walkers and lovers of the open countryside. For those who prefer staying closer to home, a good shopping centre and a selection of pubs, two clubs and restaurants are on offer. Bude canal, a registered nature reserve, passes through the town, and rowing a boat along its calm waters or walking the towpath among the beautiful (and friendly) water fowl that live among the reeds is a great way to spend an hour or two. Within the area there are also 2 golf courses, an indoor swimming pool, bowling alley at the leisure centre. A perfect location for all that North Cornwall has to offer.
