  • "Lovely week in the cottage, warm and cosy although the kitchen downstairs takes a long time to warm up."

Hosts very friendly but not intrusive. Good position for visiting Tavistock and the Moors. Quiet position on the outskirts of Bere Alston. Sykes website make it so easy to find a suitable cottage too.

  • "The cobbles is a wonderful, homely, welcoming holiday home."

It is beautifully kept, clean and very well equipped. Our hosts, Sean and Tacey are lovely people and couldn't have been nicer. They are around if you need them but let you get on with your holiday in your own way. They are a fount of knowledge on local walks and all the local pubs and restaurants. It's the perfect base to explore both Devon and Cornwall. We can't wait to go back!

  • "We had a lovely family holiday at The Cobbles, with 2 children and a dog."

The house was comfortable and clean and had everything we needed. The owners were kind and helpful. It was great to be slightly off the beaten track but still central to areas that we wanted to explore in the Tamar Valley and Dartmoor. The children loved meeting the sheep and had plenty of space to run around. The small private garden was secure so that the dog did not manage to explore the farm on her own! We would happily stay here again and would highly recommend it to others. Thank you!

  • "We had a lovely time staying at the Cobbles."

It was very clean and quiet, both important requisites for us! I thought the owners were very welcoming and friendly and the fudge and eggs were yummy. I would highly recommend staying at the Cobbles especially if you want to explore Dartmoor and the surrounding beautiful area. Smudge our dog also loved staying here.

About the location

BERE ALSTON

Tavistock 6 miles; Plymouth 12 miles.

Bere Alston is a small Devon village in a beautiful location between the rivers Tavy and Tamar, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The village was once a thriving port shipping tin from Dartmoor. Just upstream from Bere Alston on the river Tamar is Morwellam Quay, a tiny harbour where half the world’s copper travelled through in the 1860s, and which is now a popular visitor attraction telling the story of copper mining through history. Trains run between Bere Alston and Plymouth, on the picturesque Tamar Valley line, following the river for much of the route. Bere Alston has a village shop and pub and there are plenty of stunning countryside walks. Two National Trust properties in the area are Cotehele, a Tudor manor house and glorious gardens stretching down to the river Tamar and Buckland Abbey, an estate on the river Tavy with craft workshops and family attractions.
