  • "Dolphin Cottage is well equipped and in a good location for Rock and the surrounding area; the inclusion of both washing machine and dryer is ideal in particular."

Whilst generally clean the property was fairly dusty on arrival and it appeared it had only be cursorily rather than fully cleaned which was disappointing. Equally, none of the window frames fit properly and so, during the high winds we experienced during the stay, the rooms were very draughty and cold despite the central heating being on. The chimney flue was so draughty it was impossible to sit in the living room due to the noise level. These are structural issues and not ones JB could do anything about and so not their fault at all. If the above faults were rectified we’d stay at the cottage again but currently these put us off returning.

Thank you for taking the time to feedback on your stay. We're very sorry that you had to experience these issues during your visit but thank you for bringing those to our attention, they are news to us! • "Dolphin Cottage was a great base for our family of 4 plus Grandma."

The cottage was well appointed, very clean and as expected which made for a relaxing time. The bathrooms were really nice and appear to have recently been updated. The addition of a Google Chromecast in the living room was a nice touch, however the internet (providing only 5 Mbps at best) was not really adequate to stream anything without buffering, nor was it sufficient for modern family requirements. Although the literature stated broadband in Rock can be poor, we've stayed in houses in Rock with far superior broadband over the years. This really was the only downside, and once rectified we would have no hesitation in returning to spend another great week at Dolphin Cottage.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry for the inconvenience caused by the Wi-Fi issue. This is the first we have heard of it! Your comments have been passed on to the team here at John Bray Cornish Holidays and to the owner. We are glad you enjoyed your visit despite this and would love to welcome you back to North Cornwall in the future. - John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner. Property Owner

  • "In Cornwall's embrace, where seagulls soar, Stands Dolphin Cottage, a name it bore."

Yet, sadly, not a dolphin's grace, In its features, a lack we face. Location boasts a charm so sweet, A coastal haven, where land and sea meet. The house, a gem, with a new build's kiss, Classy whispers, it can't dismiss. But John Bray, a charismatic name, His reputation, not quite the same. For Dolphin Cottage, it seems to lack, The charm we've known to track. Cobwebs weave their silent tales, Dirty floors beneath whispered gales. A Velux window, bathed in grime, Reflects a state, far from sublime. No doormat welcomes, as it should, Baking trays in grime stood. Pots and pans, their prime long past, A kitchen's echo, memories cast. In the drawer's embrace, what secrets play? A random dance, in culinary display. Forks of this and knives of that, All once cherished, now left for tat. The living room, a drafty shed, Whispers hinting a romance misled. O' Johnny Boy, must the pipes now blow? Revive this cottage, make it brightly show. In Dolphin's name, let winds of change, Sweep through rooms, rearrange. For Cornwall's pride, let John Bray rise, And charm return to Dolphin's eyes. also the toilet stopped working and the bins hadn't been emptied

  • "Our 2nd stay at this fabulous cottage."

We had an electrical and plumbing issue at the start of our stay but these were dealt with very efficiently by Sykes/Brays. Overall a lovely comfortable and well equipped cottage but it would be great if there could be more seating in the living room as the sofas only seat 4 people and we had to bring in dining chairs for our teenage granddaughters and visitors. Looking forward to our stay in 2024!

Perfectly equipped and comfortable and a pleasure to hide our in when the weather was adverse. If I had a question/concern, it would be that the bedroom windows didn't open in the room with twin beds and it got quite warm in there.

Thank you so much for your feedback. We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay and would love to welcome you back anytime in the future. It suits our family requirements although we could use another bedroom. It is homely. We have returned to this house for several holidays. It is quiet and comfortable. The front door needs replacing - very drafty and insecure. But we keep coming back!!

  • "An excellent house and stay."

Only minor comment would be info on how the heating works ie how to adjust the timer settings as it seemed to come on in the night. I couldn’t find any info on this Also how the waste bin collection works. Reading the John Bray info in the house implied that we had to ring for a collection otherwise we would be charged but that wasn’t the case when I called the office ( it was emptied on the Thursday ) Just points these are not complaints

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, we are so glad you liked the property, we are in the process of getting information packs in properties to help guests with the appliances, we do hope we can welcome you back to North Cornwall soon. Handy for the shops and local pub. You won't find any of grannies musty old chairs from the 1950's just a homely, professional, well furnished house with a lovely dine in kitchen. If I was being ultra picky I'd upgrade the TV to smart for those rainy Netflix days. Difficult to fault this house.

  • "Cleaning was a bit hit and miss."

Lots of spiders and a contact lens on the floor in main bedroom. Fridge was a not that clean. Just a bit more important during Covid . Lovely house though and a great stay. some possible improvements...the toilet seat in the family bathroom kept coming loose, a bit hazardous for late night toilet visits ! Also maybe consider some better mattresses on the double and twin beds . They are a bit tired and thin. Also on arrival the key code we had been given was wrong . The out of hours service soon solved this, we drove down to the Rock office and called the number on the door. The online number we called initially cut us off. Overall it was a good stay in a lovely house.
