  • ""We are very disappointed that we were not informed of the night road works that are happening outside our accommodation."

We are staying in Sea Glimpses in Port Isaac and were unable to sleep until the early hours this morning due to the constant jackhammering and vehicle noise just outside our windows. Our holiday plans were flexible and had we known of this we would have booked the following week. The pea Pod shop owner who owns Sea Glimpses Studio informed us this morning that she notified her tenants that they could change plans if they wished due to the impending night time noise. We were not given that opportunity. On Monday the roadworks messed up our plans as the bus could not come into the village. We are told that the work will continue again tonight which means the last 2 nights of our stay are anything but relaxing. We stayed in the same place back in March and had a fantastic stay. I’m sure you would have been aware of the roadwork as all of the residents told us they were well informed.' The road works also continued the following night until the early hours of the morning. It was even tricky/dangerous to cross the road to get into the village. We have videos and photos of the roadworks taken from the cottage and the road. We also sent this email to John Bray estate agents who said they would forward this to you but we still haven't received a reply apart from this generic feedback form which is insulting. We would like a response from you to explain why you ignored us before during and after this experience.

  • "The cottage is lovely, very adequate for our needs."

Cleanliness is marked down as the work surfaces were dirty. I used sanitiser/antiviral wipes and the cloths were filthy. Also the floors were worse, we always take our shoes off at the door, our feet & socks were black with dirt, absolutely black. The information pack says the property will be cleaned & sanitised before our arrival. This is definitely not true. I do not expect to clean floors or work tops before I can start my holiday. Also the bins around the back of the property were blocked by bags & bags of rubbish piled up. No way could you get to the bins for the sea glimpes this way. We had to get in by going in the roped off area and climbing over a wall.

Thank you for providing us with your feedback following your stay at Sea Glimpses. We are really sorry for the issues you encountered upon your arrival, we are following these issues up internally with the housekeeping team. - John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owners Property Owner

  • "This property was perfect."

We stayed during the sea shanty weekend and it was the perfect welcome to Port Isaac! We fell in love with both Port Gaverne and Port Isaac in 2020, so this property was in the ideal location for us. Thanks so much to the hosts for being so welcoming and accommodating. We will definitely stay again.

  • "The only thing that was awkward was getting to the rubbish bins."

The cottage its self was really nice and well stocked with everything needed. The weather was so nice we did not use any of the plentiful TV's etc. one thing the agents could do is to provide how to get long term parking. It was ok for us as our friends were staying just up the road and they had parking

  • "The shower pressure was just awful."

Temperature kept running scorching hot to cold. The fact that you had to turn on the hot water wasn’t ideal as we arrived and needed to give children a bath. No dishwasher wasn’t very hygienic especially with Covid. Twin room was absolutely tiny Parking not ideal with small children but we accept that is port Isaac

Walk the narrow streets lined with traditional, white-washed fisherman’s cottages, sit on the Platt and watch the fishing boats come and go, or take a boat trip out to sea and along the coastline.

If you are a keen walker then head out along the South West Coast Path, a route that runs for miles in both directions along the coast towards Tintagel to the east and Polzeath to the west.

Polzeath Beach is an award-winning beach that has some great conditions for surfing but if surfing isn’t your cup of tea then you can head around the corner to the more sheltered New Polzeath Beach.
