  • "We loved the property and it’s location to the beach, walks and shop/restaurants are fantastic."

Our only criticism would be lack of wine glasses and sharp knives! But we had bought our own anyway so it didn’t matter. Loved our stay & the weather was amazing! Thank you Cornwall!

  • "Excellent location with sea views."

Unfortunately the property is looking tired and let down by the sofas which are in poor condition, extremely uncomfortable (no back support) and have torn cushions. The double bed was very squeaky, an engineer came out quickly when called and tightened the bolts which solved the problem for our stay. The bunk beds were very unstable and need urgent attention, the engineer was reporting this so hopefully fixed now. For the price we would have expected more attention to the upkeep of furniture and the property.

Thank you for your feedback, it is great to hear that you enjoyed the location of The Beach House as well as the views! We are speaking with the owner in regards to the issue you have raised in regards to the sofa, and bunk beds. I do hope these issues didn’t impact on your stay to much – John Bray Cornish Holidays. • "The property is brilliant so close to the beach you can hear the waves."

It had everything we need and more, it’s a little bit tired and needs a few things done but this didn’t stop us having a wonderful time at the beach house.

  • "We were all pleasantly surprised, especially after reading some of the bad reviews."

The place was spotless so thank you very much to the cleaners. The house has so much potential and with a few little changes I think the stay would be perfect. The sofas do need to be changed asap as even with the throws on they are very uncomfortable. The bed was very squeaky . It wasn’t listed that the house had a tumble dryer so this was really good ( especially with kids ) Overall we had a lovely stay. The little ones loved it, so close to the beach and a lovely location.

  • "The stay to the front window with the Juliet balcony was not effective, meaning difficult to get some night time ventilation."

Not much of a problem during our stay, but would be in hot weather. Otherwise a great house!

  • "Beautiful house with lovely view and amazing location."

Let down by uncomfortable sofas in poor condition (cushions torn and dirty, and no back support so not great for family get together in main part of house), lack of decent glasses (only one pint glass and mismatched other glasses), lack of kitchen utensils (ie no scissors, no decent knives, rotten wooden tongs), leaky downstairs shower, no outside shower/tap at beachside entrance and insufficient outdoor family seating on upper terrace. Sink taps were falling off. Fridge had mildew on seals. Some of the decor looked tired and furniture very cheap quality eg upstairs drawers. We have stayed in a lot of holiday houses. This had v high potential but was let down by its fit out, but it remains a beautiful house in a great location! For the price we would have expected more attention to the upkeep of furniture and items to service a family or 6-8

  • "Property had fabulous views but was generally a little tired."

Sofa’s are old and uncomfortable and not as shown in photos, however, property was bright, warm, beds comfortable and it is perfectly situated in Polzeath.

Thank you so much for your feedback, we are looking at the sofas and how to improve/replace them with the owner. We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay regardless and would love to welcome you back anytime in the future. - John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner. Property Owner

  • "We didn't get off to the best start, unfortunately The Beach house on Polzeath beach is extremely tired."

It’s a beautiful house in a fabulous location however as when we called to complain we were told “its had a good season” not really what we wanted to hear, as shouldn’t it be the same standard for each guest? There was electrical tape holding a lamp together, pictures missing off the walls, a very dirty sofa, mouldy bathroom and extremely un -comfy mattress. We called Sykes who we booked the cottage through to find that it was actually with John Brays, Penny the Manager was extremely helpful and replaced the mattress and left us a lovely thoughtful gift but still with another 2weeks left at the property it did dampen our holiday. We bought throws for the sofa and pictures for the walls not really what you expect to do when away. We have stayed in some fabulous Sykes cottages and hope to again. I couldn’t recommend this property in the state it is now, hopefully a little love and care will go into it before the new season.

Thank you for taking the time to feedback on your stay. We're very sorry that you had to experience these issues during your visit but thank you for your patience and understanding. Your comments have been passed on to the team at John Bray Cornish Holidays and to the owner and we are taking steps into resolving these, especially with the sofas by buying some brand new covers or replacing outright. We hope to welcome you back to north Cornwall in the future. - John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner. Property Owner
