  • "A fantastic house, spacious, roomy and extremely warm."

The enormous Aga in the kitchen probably helped! We were a group of ten and everyone was extremely comfortable. The location suited us perfectly for a winter holiday; there is plenty of walking and an array of interesting old buildings to visit. Our hosts made us feel extremely welcome, and were always available to answer any questions we had. Thank you!

  • "Lovely house and gardens, plenty of room for a big family party."

We took lots of cooking supplies with us just in case but we didn't need to as it had everything we needed. The house was warm and comfortable and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

  • "A wonderful family home which accommodated our large family celebration (eight adults, six small children and one dog!"

). Bearing in mind that we visited in December, it was lovely to enjoy the warm house with Aga in the kitchen and open fire. We actually used the BBQ for one evening meal! Superb location with wonderful facilities on site (hot tub, large walled garden, sitting out area in the summer) and so close to Oundle and Stamford. A floor planner would help with understanding how the sleeping arrangements on the second floor work! No toilet facilities on that floor. One burst external pipe - caused by the frost. Support was on hand very quickly.

  • "We had a lovely time at Glapthorn Manor."

We were 3 generations and our dogs and it was perfect for all of us to get together - or separate off if we wanted. The garden was thoroughly enjoyed by humans and canines. The owner was kind enough to allow us to bring extra dogs too so we could all holiday together. We would certainly go back but can't next year as our family is growing and unfortunately the property won't be big enough for all of us A lovely property and would recommend

Thank you very much for your response, we really enjoyed having you and it was wonderful that you came down and visited Glapthorn Manor Equestrian. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely stay at this beautiful home."

The Manor is huge with plenty of shared spaces and comfortably accommodated our large group. The rooms are decorated thoughtfully and to a high standard and everything was clean and tidy. We made good use of the hot tub and the garden and it was a relief to find somewhere totally pet-friendly. The hosts responded immediately to any queries and were very warm and welcoming.

Thank you for your feedback, it was wonderful having you all and we hope to see you again. Property Owner

  • "The most beautiful house we have ever stayed in, it really made you feel at home as soon as you walked through the door."

We were a family including 5 grandchildren and 3 dogs celebrating my 65th birthday and it had absolutely everything we needed. The beds were so so comfortable, 2 beautiful lounge areas, a formal dining room plus a warm family kitchen area. The garden was huge, the grandchildren played football, rounders and cricket with plenty of room for all. Would highly recommend and will definitely be returning

Great to have been part of your 65th celebrations, we look forward to having you again. Property Owner

  • "We had such a lovely stay!"

The house was beautiful, it was really clean, it was warm, the beds were super comfortable, nice showers, we (and the dogs) loved the garden and the games provided! The bottle of cava, chocolates and card on arrival was such a lovely touch, thanks so much! The only thing I would say is we expected there to be more cleaning products like sponges, dishwasher tablets, disinfectant spray and wipes etc as we had to go and buy all of these. Overall we really did love our stay and would definitely book to stay at Glapthorn again, thanks so much!

We loved meeting you and are very pleased you enjoyed your stay. We have taken on board your thoughts and provide liquid organic cleaners and cloths around the house now, thank you for your constructive comment. Hope to see you again. Property Owner

  • "This is a lovely historic house which was ideal for our large family group of mixed ages."

It is very cosy and comfortable and the hosts were welcoming and accommodating. The outside area, which we didn’t fully utilise, must be lovely in Summer. There are good walks locally and Oundle is an attractive town. The house has interesting antique objects but there were a few minor niggles e.g. with lights not working.

We are pleased you enjoyed our house and do appreciate your feedback. We apologise for the niggles and have rectified these for our future guests, thank you for your constructive comments. Property Owner

  • "This was a lovely well equipped property in a lovely location."

The gardens are perfect for the children to run around and we of course made full use of the outdoor space and hot tub. Greeted with wine, chocolates, milk, tea and coffee (highly appreciated although we do not consume alcohol), and a lovely note from the owners. The horses on the field were enjoyed by the children, with owners allowing the children to pet them and talking to them about the horses. The children fully enjoyed their stay. We enjoyed a lovely family get together with lots of space, sunshine and greenery. The Manor is well located to a Waitrose so the quick shop was possible for essentials. We needs a slightly later checkout which was accommodated by our hosts. This was much appreciated by our New Yorkers who have not acclimatised to British timings yet

Wonderful to have you to stay and a privilege to host overseas visitors, we hope to see you again. Property Owner

Oundle 2.2 miles.

Glapthorn Manor is a Grade 2 listed, stone Manor house.

It was reputedly built by Oliver Cromwell's Uncle, Thomas Cromwell and was called Cromwells Manor for a time.

It became the Dowager house for the Brudenell family from Deene before being bought by the current family who have owned it for over 100 years.

Glapthorn Manor is situated in the picturesque village of Glapthorn in Northamptonshire, close to the beautiful towns of Oundle, Stamford and the villages of Rutland.

With a grand interior hosting exposed beamed ceilings, an impressive open-fireplace dating back to the late 1500’s and hard wooden floors, this seven-bedroom home welcomes a family gathering of 16. Approach by a lengthy driveway and admire the lovely ground before leaving your vehicle in a private parking space.

Enter the hallway, where you can hang your jackets in the cloakroom, ready for an outdoor adventure.

The farm-house style kitchen offers everything you need for your stay, with an AGA cooker, electric oven, induction hob and a dishwasher to save on the cleaning up.

Savour mealtimes in the formal dining room as you recount the highlights of the day; afterwards gather in the sitting room and unwind on a plush sofa.

Walking through the property, you can escape the crowd with a quiet read in the snug and from here patio doors lead outside to the expansive garden.

The enclosed garden enjoys a gin bar to make the most of the summer months, a hot tub to watch the sky grow dark and furniture to relax in your setting.

As day draws to night, head inside and venture to the first floor, which offers a super-king-size with an en-suite, two king-size with en-suites, an additional king-size and a twin bedroom with a Smart TV.

Another set of stairs lead to the second floor, where you will find a family bedroom with two doubles and a twin bedroom, both with vaulted ceilings.

A short walk or drive will lead you to the market town of Oundle sitting on the bank of the River Nene in Northamptonshire, home to a flurry of bars, restaurants and boutique shops and on the second Saturday of each month an enticing Farmer’s Market.

The Talbot Hotel is a wonderful place to absorb some local history over a meal or drink; Mary Queen of Scots spent her last night before her execution at the nearby Fotheringhay Castle.
