  • "We loved our stay at Pike Cottage."

It is compact and bijou and well placed to visit south Gloucestershire and Wiltshire. The history of this quaint, picturesque cottage is fascinating. The stairs to the first floor are steep but manageable with the rope banister. The pub across the road offers value for money but be warned- their portions are generous. The owners are lovely and welcoming, offering free range of their beautiful garden. We highly recommend the cottage.

  • "We had a lovely cosy stay at the cottage and the location was perfect for our needs."

It was January and the weather was cold and wet so the lovely open fire was a real bonus. We did find the bathroom quite cold and you had to wait in between showers for the water to warm up again but that made sure we were quick! The cooking facilities were minimal and the kitchen very small but as long as you are prepared it was not an issue and the excellent pub food and hospitality within 10 seconds walk was a true bonus. Thank you for a lovely ‘get away from it all’ stay.

I’m so glad you had a good relaxing stay., despite the awful weather. I apologise for not informing you about the shower - I forgot! It heats from a wall heater & needs a moderated flow of water to give a longer lasting heat, then it’s fine. There is an instruction about this in the cottage handbook. I endorse your opinion about our pub ! Cheers! Property Owner

A bit small but never the less a wonderful base from which we were able to explore all the areas we wanted to see. And, uniquely, the most wonderful old clock, with its workings in the bedroom, gently ticking away and serenading us to sleep.

Set in a small village with everything you need literally on the doorstep. The hosts Bob and Eileen gave us permission to use their beautiful garden which is a absolute picture and we had a lovely relaxing time in the sunshine. We would love to go back towards the end of the year.

  • "Lovely cosy cottage in a great location."

Great to have access to garden. Shower facility a bit hit and miss and a basket of logs would have been very welcome given that the village shop did not sell them.

  • "Lovely historic cottage, well positioned to explore the surrounding area."

Great 1st floor bedroom with a comfortable bed. The kitchen is very compact, with limited workspace. We still managed to cook some meals. Reasonably well equipped, but could do with a small chopping board that can be easily cleaned and used for meat, etc and some more cooking implements for use on the non stick pans, especially a wooden spatula/spoon. Great pub just across the road, which does good grub.

Thank you for your favourable comments. I’m pleased you especially liked the bedroom. I have already provided a chopping board - it’s covering the sink. The spatula that is provided is plastic, in the expectation that it is more easily cleaned and therefore more hygienic. The pub food is certainly great, and so are the quantities. Property Owner

  • "Finally got to take our staycation at Pike Cottage!"

This was a Christmas present for my other half for Valentines weekend however we then had to postpone to April (my birthday weekend), but yet again we had to postpone to Oct (Marks birthday) and we made it and it didn’t disappoint in any way shape or form. We had the best time! A beautiful building and ‘home’ extremely well laid out and equipped. An awesome open fire, stunning bedroom and just full of original character. Our hosts were very friendly and hospitable (as we’re their neighbours as well!). Like I say we could not fault any aspect of this wonderful house, pub, village, part of England! Thank you, I sincerely hope we will be back! x

  • "Pike Cottage is an attractive and quirky cottage with all you could want for a week's stay."

Spacious bedroom with comfortable bed and adequate storage, but the steep stairs needed careful negotiation. The old clock here was a little noisy as was the passing traffic. Downstairs lounge was attractive with comfy sofas and a stock of leaflets/guides on the area. A larger TV would have been an improvement and the internet connection and Wi-fi could be erratic at times. Bathroom met our needs. Kitchen is on the small side, but we managed using our Remoska. The big plus was the beautiful garden and the friendly owners Eileen and Bob. Great to sit out and relax after a day's visiting. The welcome basket was a nice touch! The pub opposite serves good meals and beer. We stocked up at the fabulous farmshop in Hawksbury Upton and topped up at the local store around the corner from the cottage. Good base for visiting the charming village of Biddestone, Castle Combe, Lacock and the interesting Bradford-on-Avon.

Pike cottage is very quaint and has everything you could need for a perfect stay, the kitchen is very small but we had no problems at all making meals , the bed was very comfortable and the clock can be stopped if the ticking interrupts your sleep. Having use of the beautiful gardens was brilliant as the week we stayed was incredibly hot. The cottage is perfectly.located for visiting places, such as Castle Coombe ,Bath, Chipping Sodbury, Lacock. • "Pike Cottage is very charming and you have access to the owner's (just next door) beautiful garden."

The cottage had everything we needed and was very clean. The location was ideal for visiting some lovy Cotswold villages and some great walks. The drawbacks- the kitchen is very small and if we had have eaten in, it would have been a challenge to cook in it. Also if you are a light sleeper we would not recommend as you are right on a very busy main road and the outside clock's mechanism is located in the bedroom and is noisy. For some, this may be relaxing but for others it could disturb you throughout the night.

Ideal base for exploring the cotswolds and a lovely pub opposite that do great food, the takeaway portions are very generous, we found an order of one meal was more than enough for two people. The clock on the front of the cottage is a nice original feature, the workings of which are located in the bedroom and tick toking may be an issue for light sleepers.

  • "This is an absolutely charming place."

The hosts are friendly but not intrusive, the house is spotless and comfortable with the use of a large and beautiful garden. The only down sides are that 1) the kitchen is not fully equipped—one two-ring hob plus a microwave and 2) the bathroom is downstairs. Both of these are more than compensated for by the charm of the building. Anyone who has difficulty with stairs would not find these stairs easy. I thoroughly enjoyed my short stay here.
