As soon as you walk through the door you feel at home. It is full of character, comfortable and spacious. As the weather wasn't that good during our stay the conservatory was a lovely place to sit and relax. The large kitchen has everything you would ever need, the house is one of the best provisioned I have stayed in. The listing doesn't mention the excellent gas cooker. The AGA was on all the while during our stay making the kitchen feel welcoming and warm. The log fire was needed at night (you can buy extra logs cheaply nearby). The central heating is very efficient, if you don't want to have a log fire. There is a useful downstairs toilet and shower room, again this is not mentioned in the listing. (The parking area is quite large and you could easily park four or five cars there). We appreciated the generous welcome pack. The garden is spacious, beautiful, secure and well maintained. Had the weather been better you could quite happily spend time sat out. The location is secluded and peaceful, with paths leading from the cottage through the adjacent wheat fields and along the vale. The nearby range of hills to the north and the Ridgeway provide lots of walking variations, the paths are well marked and walkable. There are five 'White Horses' in the area which make an interesting feature on a walk or drive. There are Red Kites in the area and the chalk downs have a variety of rare plants. Stonehenge and Salisbury, with its brilliant cathedral are nearby. The local pub is a few minutes walk, and has three local real ales, and a good menu (though to my mind, quite expensive). I would recommend this property to anyone.
