  • "Wonderful cottage, warm, lots of hot water, beautiful location."

    Mrs NorejkoOct 2021

The Cottage is set in the most beautiful and historic villages in England its like stepping back 500yrs, the cottage itself is clean, cosy and very characteristic of its surroundings, only drawbacks no secure outside space for pets and would benefit from WiFi as phone signal is none existent, living room furniture rather uncomfortable

    Mr HarrisSep 2021

  • "Cottage in excellent location and has private parking which is a bonus."

Unfortunately the furnishings are a little tired and need replacing. The bed has two mattresses on it which was a little strange. As mention in other reviews there is a problem with wood lice and although all dead it is not nice to see. The lady who manages the cottage is excellent. Always available to help and give advice on best places to eat.

    Mr MooreSep 2021

  • "We had a lovely stay and enjoyed every minute of it."

Personally I think that the kitchen utensils should be updated especially the frying pan because it is really old. Plus the knives are forks and plates need updating. We also noticed all the wood lice around the property. Other than that it is a fantastic cottage and a beautiful location.

    Mr SchobsAug 2021

  • "A great place to stay for the two of us and our pet dog."

Stable cottage is perfectly situated on a quiet lane with no through traffic and is really cosy! Great spot in a gorgeous village with lots of nice walks in the area.

    Mr CounsellAug 2021

  • "Quiet location with parking."

The building does have a wood lice problem, possibly from the beams. A few basics missing….ordinary knives (only steak knives) and a potato peeler should be obtained. Nice walks from the cottage and two pubs around the corner. A great location for southern Cotswolds, Bath and even Bristol. Castle Combe is of course a gem and this cottage is off the busy village and others parking alongside, although the parking area needs some attention, vey low cars could ground.

    Rev BickerstethJul 2021

  • "The cottage is in a lovely position and is very pretty."

The bed was very uncomfortable as was the sofa. There is no garden which needs to be made clear in the description especially as the cottage is advertised as suitable for dogs. There is a place to sit on the road front but you have to carry the table and chairs through the cottage each time you want to sit outside. There are several small things that could be done such as put up a hook in the bathroom as there is nowhere to hang a dressing gown; provide more than the absolute minimum of crockery and glasses. Also there were no recycling facilities. We returned home early.

Great location for touring and walking, facilities very good but one issue is that there is a problem with wood lice in the cottage which is quite a problem at times

    Mr WaughJun 2021

  • "This is a wonderful cottage in a beautiful location."

It had everything we needed for a very comfortable and relaxing stay.A very helpful host, but not intrusive. For us, it would have benefited from having WiFi. Overall a perfect stay.

    Mr Albrecht

  • "We especially liked the character of the cottage, in keeping with both the original stable architecture and the architectural character of the village itself."

We selected this cottage because of the somewhat more private location of the cottage, off the main roadway of the village.

The property

Stable Cottage has the fortune of being situated in one of the most unique, picturesque and pretty villages in the Cotswolds - Castle Combe.

They really don't come much better than this - even in the pouring rain!

Tucked down a very quiet lane that is just off the village 'centre' and less than 1 minute from two country pubs, this little beauty is gem of a holiday retreat.

Inside the cottage is open plan and furnished in a simple attractive style the kitchen is well equipped and modern, the living area very comfortable and warm and bedroom has large comfortable bed.

It may be simple but it is lovely and very charming.

Formerly a 17th Century stable, this barn has been carefully converted and yet retains all the character and feel of the original building, including a massive oak beam between the lounge and bedroom, the vaulted ceiling and thick stone walls. As you would expect in a village as beautiful as this, there are endless walks in all directions, and as well as the pubs there is also a tried and tested tea room which serves a classic afternoon tea!

Without doubt a classic country cottage, at an attractive price, but in the finest village in the area.

This is a must see village!
