  • "We had a lovely weekend at 9 Velley Hill as a family of 12 adults (3 generations)."

The property had everything we needed for the weekend and was clean overall. The shower pressure was good and beds comfy. What made the property for us was the conservatory with the large table which gave us the space to have dinner together and spend time together - this is where we spent most of our time during our visit.

Thank you very much for these comments. We always have a wonderful time at Gastard for family gatherings and I love it to give pleasure to other groups. Property Owner

  • "The lounge areas were dirty, had not been vacuumed for probably weeks, the bedrooms were poorly cleaned and the areas under the beds may never have been vacuumed as far as we can see."

There were cobwebs everywhere. No wood for the wood burners, told afterwards wood in the shed, what shed?? 5 of our party have become ill after using the jacuzzi, we are raking legal advice for next steps. Avoid this property at all costs. Sykes seem happy to pass on all any any liability to owners, owners appear not to care.

  • "Property was lovely & a nice place to say with a large group of people."

Lots of room for us to all hang out. The main problem was a dreadful smell in the downstairs bedroom, which did not get better even with the window left open. It was a very unpleasant room to sleep in for one of our party.

  • "Fantastic house."

Very cosy and homely .lots of space .very clean . Hot tub clean and temp perfect. Only issue we could not use bottom garden as grass to long and previous renters left dog mess. But put that aside great location great property.

  • "I reported a problem with the property cleanliness."

The dishwasher was disgusting and there were spiders and cobwebs throughout the property. There was no toaster which was a major issue for us. Nothing was done about it whilst we were there so overall we were disappointed with our stay.

  • "We had several issues: 1."

Cleanliness - whilst the bathrooms were clean, the rest of the living spaces were not cleaned to acceptable standards. Some of the bedroom linen felt damp and mouldy, the one bedroom in the loft had dust coming off the ceiling onto the bed. The downstairs bedroom had a consistent smell that could only be partially managed by opening the windows. Spiders and cobwebs all over the house 2. There was a water drip from the ceiling in the kitchen when the shower in the room above was used. There was also a drip in the living room which landed on the metal table...generally a dark and dank room. 3. We had the fuse blow in the conservatory on our first night - informed Sykes, no response received, no emergency number to call in the information file. The kitchen, conservatory, utility room and the outside spaces made the property livable. We appreciated the excellent collection of books and curios.
