  • "We had another lovely stay at Clock Tower Cottage."

We cannot wait to return in April. This is our favourite place to visit

  • "We had a really lovely time, as did all our guests."

The only negative was the last two nights my husband woke up with backache. It came as a shock that I needed to be “buzzed” into the gate on arriving at the property. As a result I think that I was quite sharp when asking to be let in

  • "A very comfortable place to stay and one where a great deal of small items you would normally have to supply yourself were already there."

Very clean with good facilities which made you feel at ease as soon as you set foot in the place. This was a great place to stay and use as a base for visiting other areas, walking, or for even chilling out in the garden. We have a dog and there is a lovely well fenced secure paddock where she could run around with out the fear of her getting out. If I had any criticism of it, there are some areas of the property that could do with some attention and I am sure that is in hand, and is also just my observation. This in no way spoilt our time there or detract us from the fact we had a lovely holiday and would recommend it to anyone. We would like to thank you for a most enjoyable holiday.

  • "We have two large dogs and enjoy staying in rural locations with access to many walks."

The clocktower is an ideal spot for this, with the very large ancient wood, Savernape close by, the canal tow path and lots of right of way across other woods and farmland. We also found several local pubs serving excellent food at reasonable prices. Visitors have access to a very large field to exercise their dogs and there is no worry about dogs getting out into fields full of livestock (a big concern for us), that enabled us to relax a bit more. The property is very comfortable, lovely beds and had everything we needed for our stay. The owners live on site, not instrusive and very friendly, so if there was a problem I wouldn't have hesitated to have a chat with them about it, but the need didn't arise. We had a lovely a wonderful enjoyable week.

  • "Very well equipped and clean."

Field for the dogs a huge bonus. My only issue is the lack of ventilation in the bedrooms. I realise the underground room would be difficult but having no windows to the outside in the other two bedrooms I felt was strange especially as I like open windows at night.

  • "Fantastic, well equipped, cottage in an amazing location Clock Tower Cottage is in an amazing location, with fields all around and the Kennet And Avon canal a few minutes’ walk away."

It has its own secluded garden, access to a huge paddock, and is a really quiet and relaxing environment. We loved just sitting watching the wildlife, which included rabbits, red kites and buzzards. The owners, Mary and Martin, are lovely and couldn’t be more helpful. They had lots of advice about the area, and things to do and see, and were able to recommend walks, local amenities, and pubs. The cottage itself is really well equipped, with everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. There were lots of pamphlets and other information about things to do in the area, including a set of booklets describing local walks. The cottage is really spacious, especially the lounge, which has great views over the surrounding countryside, and everywhere was spotlessly clean and tidy. This is one of the best cottages we have stayed in, and we can highly recommend it. We will certainly be returning in future.

  • "We had a great stay."

It would be nice to have somewhere to hang washing outside and BBQ would be good for summer months. It doesn't mention the electric gate on description, so we were slightly suprised by this. Everything was available inside, nice suprise to see there was a tumble dryer. Lovely area and good walks nearby.

  • "After many false starts we finally managed to have our holiday at Clocktower Cottage."

Mary greeted us on arrival and explained about using the key fob to enter the main electric gate in the car when accessing the cottage. The cottage was in immaculately clean and very spacious. We took the downstairs bedroom which was huge and with its own en suite. Although below ground level it was airy and sun pipes and electric provided adequate lighting. Large enclosed paddock beside cottage which dogs loved. Situated in a beautiful and quiet part of Wiltshire with access to lots of walks and some lovely country pubs. Highly recommended.

It is in a great location with wonderful gardens and the bonus of the huge paddock for the dogs to run around. We had a great time playing with the Frisbee; there is so much space. The cottage is immaculately clean and well equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay; having the owners living nearby was a bonus. They are so friendly; their local knowledge of the area was really helpful and they welcomed us at the start to make sure everything was ok. Giving us information about the towpath walks and nearby woodland walks, as well as information about the nearest shopping facilities was very useful. I would definitely recommend Clock Tower Cottage to anyone looking for a relaxing stay in the beautiful Wiltshire countryside.

Our 2 springers loved the freedom of the large paddock (which was an unexpected bonus). There were several pamphlets for local walks which covered different distance and started/finished at local Inns serving good and well priced food. The shops in the village served our needs and were both welcoming and reasonably priced. The keyword for the whole holiday was relaxing - and with the bonus of very welcome long distant views. Added advantage of having the Host nearby to help in case of any problems.

Fridge had not been cleaned. Worktops not clean. Food crumbs over the sofa in the lounge. Furniture in lounge in poor condition. Outside furniture in the garden literally falling apart. Basement bedroom damp. Basement bathroom very damp & smelt damp. Owners dogs pooing around the area we were staying. Not pleasant. We picked up after our small dog always. Owners dogs running freely around guests accommodation which should not be happening. As we were told to arrive later than original time we had booked because of deep cleaning reference Covid that is a joke.

To wake up to the green fields, no noise except the birds and rabbits was an absolute delight. The cottage was very well equipped with everything you need for the kitchen. The local walks, bike rides and pubs were amazing...and people actually talk to you! The owners could not have been more accommodating for our nervous dog...they built a fence around the garden to have a safe place for him to roam....VERY grateful and happy for their kindness. They told us we would relax after being in their cottage and YES we certainly did. Exactly what our family needed to get out of the ‘rat-race’ and reconnect. Thank you

Having dogs, it would be preferable if they fenced the immediate garden around the property, to stop escapism onto the very narrow and busy road outside, and to stop any aggravation to other properties on site. In mitigation, access to the very large paddock was great for exercising the dogs, but not very feasible when an animal needs to go out during the night, or first thing in the morning, without having to get dressed first.

The cottage has been lovingly and imaginatively converted to create holiday accommodation of a very high standard in beautiful Wiltshire countryside.

On the ground floor are a superb fitted kitchen and an impressive sunny conservatory sitting and dining room with views across the owner’s three-acre paddock, woodland and impressive countryside.

There are two bedrooms on the ground floor, plus the ingenious use of space has meant that the spacious and luxurious master bedroom suite has been tucked into a space on the lower ground floor.

This room benefits from a further sleeping area with a sofa bed, as well as an en-suite shower room, all cleverly ventilated by full warm and cold air conditioning.

The cottage has its own private patio area as well as shared access to a three-acre paddock, a wonderful area for exercising the dogs.

Just a short walk takes you to the tow path of the lovely Kennet and Avon Canal, where you can walk for miles admiring the colourful narrow boats as they leisurely chug their way through the picturesque Vale of Pewsey.

Locally, visit the Crofton Beam Engines, the world's oldest working beam engines, which regularly hold 'steam up' days, when visitors from far and wide come to admire the magnificent machinery.

Take the short drive to Savernake Forest and spend time strolling along the forest trails or enjoy browsing the antiques in the Hungerford Arcade.

The nearby historic town of Marlborough is just a short drive away and offers a vast array of interesting shops and restaurants.

Should you tire of all this, then drive to regal Bath or ancient Salisbury, both of which are easily accessible.

A superb, rural Wiltshire escape at any time of the year.
