The presentation of the house is 5*, the welcome too for our dog, bed, towels and treats was lovely. We had a wonderful stay, it is full of character, in a beautiful lovely friendly village. Locally, the walks are easy or challenging as you wish, friendly dogs and owners to chat to along on the way too, all relaxing. The village pub was very expensive and not friendly, food not great so we only went once however, the one in the next village was welcoming, very busy, served a very tasty Sunday roast, was reasonably priced and very popular. We found Living in Tilly’s for the week quickly became our home from home, I would thoroughly recommend it. Hopefully we will be back next year. Thanks to Mike and Sue who really know how to host!

  • "Tilly's Cottage is a beautifully renovated cottage."

We had originally booked for 2 adults and a dog, and then changed the booking to 4 people and a dog. We had a lovely time in the cottage, but I probably think it is more suitable for a maximum of three people. Although we were aware that the garden was reached up steep steps, the garden was described as wonderful and we were disappointed. it was also not dog secure. More could be done to enhance the terraced garden. The kitchen was a little small for 4 people to eat particularly as we do like cooking all our meals while we are away. All in all it is a beautiful cottage, extremely clean, but a little restrictive.

Many thanks for your feedback. We are sorry you were disappointed with the terraced wild flower, shrub filled garden. The owner has worked well with the split levels of the outside area, providing pots, wild flowers, shrubs, a decked area and a lawned area. As mentioned previously the garden is not manicured as such but is tended to regularly. Our description does not state an 'enclosed' garden and would therefore suggest it is not secure for pets. We are never able to 100% guarantee that a dog would not be able to escape a garden if they really wanted too! Property Owner

As previously mentioned there are stone steps up to the patio but this was not a problem (it could be for those with mobility issues). We found this space to be a lovely quiet suntrap. Our only recommendation is the patio would benefit from better furniture and a parasol to make it more useable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wouldn't hesitate to return.

Thank you for providing your invaluable feedback, we have spoken with the owner who has confirmed a new set of garden furniture will be provided for next season. We look forward to welcoming you back to Tilly's Cottage in the future. Property Owner

  • "We feel there should have been mention that the patio area was accessed by very steep steps so inaccessible to those with mobility problems."

The holiday information mentioned a BBQ and garden furniture. On arrival we found no BBQ which didn’t bother us but no table which did as we like to eat outside as much as possible. Full marks to Mike who provided the latter the next day. We expected to find a washing machine and hair dryer which most places provide but have to admit that these were not included in the list of amenities provided and we hadn’t noticed this. The property itself was comfortable, well equipped and tastefully decorated, however the garden area looked sadly neglected.

Thank you for taking the time to complete your feedback following your visit to Tilly's Cottage. We have spoken with the owner who has confirmed that there is no longer a barbecue available and we have now updated our listing to reflect this. We are pleased a garden table was provided for you to enable you to enjoy alfresco dining, a new garden set will be provided for next season. The garden is a terraced wild flower cottage garden with several pots and lawned area, very hard to keep manicured but is tended too regularly. Despite the points raised we are pleased to hear you enjoyed your visit. Property Owner

Plenty of hot water, rain shower over bath that was excellent, cottage lovely and warm. We had mixed weather for our holiday, but still managed to use the sun trap terrace on a couple of occasions (be warned steep steps to terrace). Very quiet, the pictures in the advert are a correct representation, it’s a lovely cottage down a quiet Wiltshire lane. Would we stay again? Definitely.

Good location near pub and farm shop and lots of walks. Nearby Bath and Longleat for days out, or Bradford on Avon. The cottage kitchen was well equipped with everything you would need. Beds OK, not the most comfortable but OK. Lovely rainfall shower in bathroom and large living room with log burner for cosy evenings. TV signal was poor so would recommend bringing games and DVD's of your own if looking for an evening in. Said no pets in the property, but there had evidently been and I am a little allergic, so didn't feel great most of the time I was inside. Other than these few little personal niggles I really couldn't fault it and would likely return.

Set on a quiet country lane in the village of Edington is Tilly's Cottage, a sweet little detached cottage, exuding warmth and cosiness the moment you step through the door.

The cottage dates back to the 19th century and has been lovingly restored to provide a lovely holiday home, suitable for a small family or friends looking to enjoy the Wiltshire countryside, or couples looking for a romantic retreat.

Come into this charming property and enter the delightful sitting room, where two grey plush sofas are arranged around the red-brick fireplace that holds the woodburning stove, throw some kindling on the fire on a cold night and nestle into your home-from-home.

A Smart TV grants you access to all your favourite channels and streaming services, beneath the wooden ceiling beams scattered with modern spotlights, it’s a great mix of old and new.

Step onto the excellently preserved original stone tiles in the kitchen/diner, and find the fitted kitchen made up of muted grey units with a dark sleek worktop, while a wooden table is tucked in one corner creating a lovely snug spot to gather around for an evening meal.

Upstairs when it’s time to turn in for the night, find two beautifully-presented king-size bedrooms, each boasting coordinated bed linen and curtains, offering a wonderful sleeping spot.

One of the rooms also features a decorative red-brick fireplace and is also able to be made into a twin room on request thanks to zip/link capabilities, turning it from a 5-foot king-size into two singles, allowing the property to be suitable for different party setups.

Finally completing the property is the bathroom, where a grey tiled shower over bath sits within it, with a hand-held shower attachment as well, creating a calming space to enjoy while soaking in the tub.

An excellent feature of this already charming property is the wonderful garden, accessed via a communal patio area leading to a flight of stone steps, it has been landscaped to create an elevated decking space, perfect for sitting out on a sunny day to take in the views over the neighbouring treetops out to the countryside beyond.

Stroll down to the village farm shop and pick up some local produce to use in a recipe for later, or simply head into the award-winning local for some hearty dishes and a pint.

Not only can you enjoy the walks and scenery of the local area of the Salisbury Plains, but you can find three AONBs surrounding you, the southern Cotswolds to the north-west, the North Wessex Downs to the north-east and Cranborne Chase below, so you won't be stuck to find any walking routes.

There are many opportunities for day's out.
