  • "WOW! The property was beautiful and laid out excellently."

Everything was super clean and the farm itself was idyllic. Wild flowers, insects, red kites, buzzards, hares, deer and a fox all seen by day 2. Martin supplied some yummy eggs on arrival which we really enjoyed. Close to a lot of National Trust properties, Bath, Avebury. Also visited Slimbridge on the way back to Lancashire. The New Inn in the village can also be recommended for good, home cooked food and a warm welcome. A perfect holiday in a perfect cottage.

the beds are very comfortable ,and the shower rooms very nice indeed. It was great to watch the cows with their calves. Martin was very friendly and welcoming and we felt at home there. A very peaceful location....thank you!

Hello Pamela. Many thanks for your glowing review. You arrived the week after the cows were let out of the barn for the summer so they are full of energy with the calves bouncing around like baby lambs. We really enjoy welcoming everyone to the farm so really glad you felt at home with us. Hope to see you again. Martin Property Owner

All the fittings are of a very high quality. Owners very responsive and helpful. There is EV charging which was good for me. Its close to lots of lovely places. Can recommend the New Inn in the village just a short walk away, good food and drink in a friendly setting. All in all we had a fantastic few days there.

  • "Beautiful setting with a very modern, clean and tasteful interior."

Very quiet at night and really comfortable beds and fantastic shower. Fresh eggs were appreciated. Only suggestions I would have is to maybe have a few stocks of thing one usually finds in self-catering places e.g. cling film, shower gel.... Also, perhaps better to have outdoor seating in a different area, as too many flies at the back of the property and it lacks the evening sun. I took a chair to the front of the property, which was a perfect spot.

Hello Eileen. Many thanks for the review. It's great to read that you found the setting beautiful and peaceful with all mod-cons. Thank you for the tip ref the furniture. You're welcome to move the furnutre around the garden to follow the sun. The sun is still quite low in the sky in mid april however we find that in the summer months the area to the back of the property is a real sun trap. Being a farm it's best to make friends with all the animals on arrival - and that includes those of the pesky flying variety that are attracted to farm life. We hope to see you again sometime. Everything was immaculate & it was very clean from top to bottom. They have everything you could imagine & everything was of high end quality (far more than we were expecting). The place was warm with thermostats in EVERY room & the 2 en-suite shower bathrooms were amazing. Every need was catered for & the sofa's & bed's were very comfortable. Wouldn't hesitate to go stay again & just sorry we weren't able to stay longer. Thank you

Flies everywhere not dealt with unless you complain Nothing to tell you how the property works Nice place just no thought for the customers who stay there Martin was very helpful but lthings needed sorting out before you arrive

Thank you, Mr Graham, for taking the time to review your break away with us this weekend. It is a shame that your personal experience is in such contrast to other reviews and the experiences enjoyed by others. We are a working organic farm living and working amongst our livestock. We really enjoy the privilege we have of being able to welcome people of all backgrounds and walks of life to stay and immerse themselves in the experiences and opportunities of farm life that are entirely different to what they may be accustomed to at home during their holiday with us. Part of the joys of living in the country and life on a farm is the wide variety of ‘visitors’ that arrive by air or foot entirely at odds to life in a town or city. In addition to our Organic Chickens & Cattle, many other animals have chosen Nables Farm as their home also. These include Deer, Hares & Rabbits that can be seen grazing the gardens and fields (much to the announce of our gardener) along with birds of prey, butterflies, bumblebees and yes, flies over the summer months. Farm life is an ecosystem for all and being an Organic farm, we are passionate about being a home for nature as nature intended. We believe we are merely custodians living amongst many other animals that also call the farm home. That said, we appreciate not everyone is as comfortable with all aspects of farm life as others may be regardless of how expected it may be to the prepared traveller. Therefore, we do provide either fly nets on external doors and/or voiles on windows to allow air to circulate during warmer weather in properties that do not have built in air ventilation systems. On this occasion we also went out and purchased fans for your bedrooms to further help with the process and alleviate your persistent concerns. Regarding instructions on how to use equipment within the properties we would like to believe we have purchased items that are fairly user friendly. We also like our visitors to feel at home and feel as if they are part of the farm family whilst here and not shut away in a generic chain hotel. Therefore, we encourage chats, conversations and questions about farm life, visits to see the chickens as well as more mundane questions as to appliances should anyone need any assistance in how to operate them. As you are aware I am only a text or phone call away and appear if by magic from nowhere within minutes. As mentioned above we are sorry if your personal experience did not match that of what we aim to deliver. We do however feel that nothing was out of the ordinary in what we provide nor the make up of the farm for a late summer break. We would of course be more than happy to welcome you back for a return visit and convince your of the pleasures of the countryside, but may I suggest a spring or autumn break when the joys of nature are more subdued and in line with your prior imagery of farm life. Kind regards - Martin & Andrew. Property Owner

Offering two good size bedrooms with really modern bathrooms. The owner was really friendly and provided fresh eggs and good advise to where to visit. The property is located in a fantastic location, where we got to see the spring bluebells and meet the variety of animals at the farm.
