It was spacious & tastefully furnished. Although not the weather to make use of it, the garden was pretty & looked out onto fields where we regularly saw a deer & muntjacs. We would definitely recommend Woodmans Cottage.

  • "It was our first time renting on part of a larger complex and we were not disappointed at how peaceful and quiet it was."

The cottage itself is fairly spacious with good amenity space especially in the kitchen area. Whilst the cottage was nice it does feel in need of a little tlc. One of the shower had an issue which is easily fixed once the controls were reset but this happened a few times during our stay, the kitchen tap leaks and during the really heavy rain, there was a leak from the centre of the alcove in front of the log burner. It also feels in need of a bit of a deep clean particularly in the shower areas and parts where the cobwebs hide, however appreciate that these are difficult during busy periods. The cottage came with puzzles, dvds, books which are such great ideas for those wet days and the leaflets of local sights were really helpful. We were a little unsure of the recycling/bin/check out instructions as we couldn’t find anything to suggest what we needed to do but just based it on stays at other places. Overall we did really enjoy our stay at this cottage.

Thank you Emily for your feedback. Glad you enjoyed the cottage and the environment in which we sit. Thank you also for your constructive feedback. The digital power showers are lovely however should anyone else be using another shower in the property or start running a tap etc, the water pressure will drop and risk burning the motor so it automatically turns itself off. I find it works best on the eco mode which regulates a comfortable pressure without the risk of losing pressure should anyone else in your party be using any other facilities. I’m glad you enjoyed the books and games etc on your wet days. One being exceptionally wet resulting in local road closures as a result. On days like these droplets will drip down the chimney flue. Recycling is clearly marked above the bins adjacent to the property as to what can or can’t be recycled. The property has had a full and busy summer with the added benefit of winning bronze on the Sykes ‘best in central England’ category. Therefore we’re hoping for a little break in order for a good spruce up soon now we are edging out of season. Property Owner

Plenty of room for 4 adults. We did have a problem with an en suite shower but this was quickly resolved by Martin. We had eggs supplied by the chickens on the farm & they were delicious. Some areas could do with a bit of TLC eg. kitchen & en suites. Otherwise comfortable, warm and somewhere where we would be happy to return.

Hi Lynn. Thanks for the review. Glad you all had a nice stay with us. It’s been a long and busy season so looking forward to getting back in there and touching up the areas that need a little bit of TLC. Hope to see you again. Martin. Property Owner

  • "Comfort restriction: The chairs at the dining table have an unusually low seat."

Kitchen cutlery with wooden handles are not suitable for the dishwasher. Lack of maintenance: When closed, the tap on the sink constantly drips onto the beautiful oak worktop. Upstairs bedroom: The closet door has 3 hinges but only 2 of them are fully assembled. The side entrance door to the free area is stuck and is therefore difficult to handle. High effort required.

  • "Log burner had not been cleaned was full of old ash and there were no tools for using or cleaning, only a plastic brush set."

There were lots of crumbs in the grill pan Bedroom upstairs needs a chair and mirror for drying hair. Settee looks very comfortable but for older people the depth of the seat and a very shallow height back made it difficult to sit in comfort.

Hi Keith, Thank you for taking the time to review your stay. For me, the sofa is a real joy to spread out on and relax in front of the fire dozing away. I am sorry that for you it was not as inviting as it looks. The upstairs bedroom has a chase lounge with a light mirror in the adjacent ensuite. Sadly though, no traditional dressing table that I think you are alluding to however the down stairs bedroom has a full length mirror, chair and ample space in the deep window recesses to store personal items. I shall speak with housekeeping to make sure they check the grill pans. The log burners are cleaned on a regular basis although have to admit this isnt done on every change as we find the soot helps to keep the fire going as we do not like using coal. Hopefully we can meet again, I would suggest perhaps the Farm House for you next time. Slightly larger but has high back sofas, full length mirror in bedrooms with its own dressing and fabulas views across the farm. Property Owner

Very spacious compared to other cottages we have stayed in. A nice homely feel, not like a rental cottage. Probably a nice place to stay in the colder months too as there is underfloor heating in most rooms and a wood burner in the living room. There is electric car charging outside some of the residences (but unfortunately not outside ours). However the high speed Ionity charger is by the 24hr services just across the M4, less than 10 minutes drive. It’s also nice to know they look after their farm animals well and the organic chicken eggs are sold through Ocado - and we were given a dozen on arrival!

Peaceful and totally relaxing farm , daily refreshing walks round the farm and into the woods even for the time of the year was great. Visits to surrounding villages was just as well pleasant and highly recommended. You must visit Combe Castle Village, a breathe taking experience , Malmesbury is another village , if you like walking, the circular walk round the village and along canal is great . We had a warm welcome from Martin and he checked in on us the next day to make sure we were happy with everything. There was a welcome tray with coffee, tea and biscuits and milk in the fridge. There was also a dozen organic eggs left for us which were delicious. Our hosts were also very kind as to leave an abundance of Easter eggs as we stayed over the Easter holidays. Greatly appreciated by our daughter and myself! This is somewhere I can see us staying time and time again. I can't recommend Woodmans Cottage enough.
