Lemon drizzle cake on arrival was a lovely welcome, reminding us of skiing holidays we’ve been on and the place is simply beautiful, comfortable, equipped to a high standard besides being well placed for Park & Ride for our visit to Bath and its environs. We joined villagers on their Carol Singing as the local pub was closed over the festive period and saw them again in the Seven Stars Inn in the next village which set us up before moving on to join family. Definitely recommend this cottage as did a 6 mile circular walk too and it was easy to follow paths from the garden out into the countryside.

We're delighted you loved the cottage and the surrounding amenities over the Christmas period and that you were able to contact the owner easily with your heating query. We had a great time and in better weather the terrace, loungers and bbq would be an excellent facility. The property is small but extremely comfortable and cosy. The only problem for us is there is a beautiful, fully glazed floor to ceiling end of the property which makes the cottage nice and light and gives and frames a nice view. People do, however, occasionally walk passed or park their car. This can be awkward as the property is small and maintaining modesty can be difficult. We would still use this property again as it is overall excellent and our criticism is meant to be helpful.

Thank you for the feedback. The loungers and the BBQ will have been put away for the Winter to protect them from the colder weather. We will pass you comments on to the owner regarding the glazed wall. We hope to welcome you back again in the warmer weather to enjoy the terrace. Best wishes Manor Cottages Property Owner

They could not have been more helpful. They have created a beautiful environment in which you can relax and enjoy a restful holiday. The cottage is delightful! The layout and decoration are superb. My mother is a 91 year old wheelchair user and the accommodation suited her perfectly. Lucy and Simon happily enabled the delivery of an oxygen concentrator and mobility equipment for my mother before we arrived, and its collection after we left. The view from the cottage is sublime and really lifts the spirits and soothes your soul. Lucy further fed our inner wellbeing with tasty cake, and apples fresh from the tree which we thoroughly enjoyed baked with sultanas also kindly provided by Lucy. Another fan of the apples is Dillon, the distinguished, dinky (miniature) donkey who will deign to spend a little time with you if suitably bribed! We enjoyed ourselves so much we booked another 2 weeks at Pheasant Cottage next year, the day after we returned home. Many, many thanks to Lucy and Simon for a wonderful time.

  • "What a delightful abode Pheasant Cottage is!"

The conversion design from a barn to a ‘modern’ cottage is ingenious in its use of space. The 2ft thick walls testify to its considerable age, but other than that it is all mod-con. The picture window gives a most pleasing and peaceful aspect to the grounds around. Lucy’s cherry-pie car with its mounted silver mascot corgi is quaint, as are the tiny ammonites displaying themselves in the flooring. Hosts Lucy and Simon could not have been more helpful, with great tips on places of interest. We are fans of the National Trust, but their cut-backs caused by Covid have proved most damaging. Tyntesfield House access is restricted to the ground floor only, with contents strewn around some rooms in quite a mess. What a pity. Hope they will recover, but their loss of staff also will prove a lasting problem we fear. Great Chalfield Manor is well worth a visit and is most intriguing, once one has navigated the adjacent extensive country lane roadworks to get there. Bath is still a real joy to visit, the Cathedral restoration works now having been virtually completed, and access via the Park and Ride very easy (and free if you have bus passes). All in all, a really lovely holiday, and highly recommended.

Pheasant Cottage is beautifully appointed, so clean and very comfortable. We loved nothing more than to wake up early and sit on the patio with a coffee and just enjoy the peace and the views of the garden, which just goes on and on. Set in 18 beautiful acres, which we were free to explore, we really felt we were getting away from it all when we arrived. Coming from a busy town it was such a treat to hear nothing but birdsong and bees (and the occasional donkey!) and we switched off completely while we were there. We enjoyed walks in the countryside around the chocolate-box village of Priston and cosy evenings in the friendly village pub. The hosts Lucy and Simon were so warm and helpful and we had many a lovely chat with them. They advised of all the good places to eat and visit and we completely fell in love with rural Somerset (and Bath and Wells!) The property has been imaginatively designed to provide everything necessary for a delightful break. The grounds in which the cottage is set are private and peaceful - inhabited by donkeys and occasionally visited by herons and deer as well as a whole host of butterflies and bees. The private patio outside the cottage is a gorgeous sun trap - just the place to loll about; and when we wanted shade, we had a relaxing swing in one of the hammocks in the garden. Simon and Lucy are welcoming hosts, but not intrusive; Lucy had left a delicious lemon drizzle cake for us, which saw us right through the length of our week’s stay. If you want peace and quiet with the option to go for long walks in the countryside, this is the place. Due to everything going on at the moment our activities were limited to walks through fields and self catering but this place was equipped perfectly for that. The bed was comfy. The bathroom well appointed and clean and the kitchen just right. The view when you open the bedroom doors is incredible thanks to the fully glass wall. When this whole mess is over we're definitely coming back! Our only minor nitpick and it is minor is the table and chairs might be more comfortable if they were lower as it wasn't great on our backs sitting up high on bar stools with a small back support. We can't wait to visit again.

  • "It is a very nice cottage but for 2 of us it was too small."

The shower room was good but the bedroom is so small that it was hard to walk round the bed and there is no room for storage or clothes. The lounge/kitchen room is also small with insufficient room to store food. A dishwasher rather than a washing machine would be usefull especially as there is very limited kitchen workspace. The TV is quite old, small with very poor sound. A few more games would also help. Finally the large window has no blind so there is little privacy although it is unlikely anyone will be walking by. On the friday morning though there were 2 gardeners mowing and strimming grass outside the window - also quite loud. Although Priston is quite a nice village the pub is very disappointing, empty and is usually closed. This cottage is expensive for its size.

"We are very sorry you were unhappy with your stay. Pheasant Cottage has been specifically and carefully designed as a cozy country get-away with new appliances and state of the art underfloor heating, fine art on the walls, comfortable surroundings, etc. The huge window looks down a private valley which is part of our property and as you say no one walks past so blinds would be both impractical and unnecessary. As the Cottage is so popular our ground staff do have to maintain the property frequently, but always try to keep any disturbance to a minimum. We are sorry that you found the village pub disappointing. As you will have noticed from our Visitors Book previous guests find the food and atmosphere at the pub one of the highlights of their stay in the village. Pricing is competitive given the care and attention that goes into our property which is maintained and managed to a high standard." Lucy Barnes - Owner Property Owner

The park and ride into Bath is only a short car ride away and is the best way to go into Bath to see the many interesting places there. Wells is worth a visit, as is Frome. The local village pub in Priston, the Ring O'Bells is a friendly place, which provides good food. The property

Pheasant Cottage is a stunning property, which has recently undergone a complete rebuild by its current owners, to provide luxorious accommodation in a stunning setting.

Located on the edge of the village of Priston, in a wonderfully peaceful setting, yet only 6 miles from the bustling and ever popular city of Bath (and only 2 miles from the park and ride - so no parking issues in the city).

Inside, the property has been carefully and stylishly improved.

All situated on one level, the cottage has a lovely pale stone floor throughout, with a smart and contemporary open plan living /dining/ kitchen area, providing stunning views across the owners' rolling acres.

The accommodation is completed by a beautifully appointed bedroom (accessed via cleverly concealed pocket doors) and a stunning en suite shower room with WC and basin.

The owners really have created a wonderful bolt-hole for two.

Outside there is a private terrace, complete with gas BBQ for those balmy summer evenings, where you can enjoy the wonderful views.

Alternatively a 5 minute stroll through the village will bring you to the highly regarded village pub.

All in all the perfect choice for a get away from it all break.
